This place is a hidden gem. Such a lovely comfortable apartment, we could have moved in! 15 steps from the beach where you can swim with huge turtles. The host family are so lovely, they treat you like family. It was lovely to chat and laugh with them, plus Mumma made an incredible Sri Lankan Breakfast and taught us how to make Coconut roti. 🫓 Rooms are clean with en-suits, balcony is beautiful💜 Would highly recommend this place 🫶💜

I stayed here for 2 nights, as I just needed to relax for a few days. To have a 2 bedroom apartment, with a front room and kitchen/dining facilities, all to myself was amazing, especially for the price. Incredible value! The apartment had all the basics that’s I needed. Sitting on the terrace looking at the sea was so lovely. The hosts were wonderful. Even came to my room later to see if I needed anything, and offered me tea and breakfast. I had an issue with WiFi one day, but it got sorted straight away. They waved me off when I left which was so nice. The location is about a 20 minute walk from the main street and beach of Unawatuna. If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing stay near turtle beach then I would definitely stay here!

This place is an absolute gem, the apartment is really nice, bed is comfortable, it's clean and you have plenty of space for a more than fair price! But more importantly, this is a homestay in the most pure term, the family that own this place leave downstairs and they are the kindest and most sweet people we've met during our last months of travelling, they do everything to make you feel at home ❤️ If you come to Galle don't miss out and book at the Shiny Villa, you won't regret it!

The train railway is really close so it is very loud but nothing some earplugs cannot handle.

The host family is really nice and kind. The place is really well located to visit the different highlights over the coast, Mirissa, Galle, etc.

The apartment is few meters from the beach where you can swim with turtles. It is located at the first floor with a nice terrace with ocean view. Owners family lives downstairs, they are a lovely and super friendly family, the best in kindness and hospitality, the mom is a great cooker and sometimes they gave us some typical food as a gift! Really appreciated! They are so happy to give any kind of information you need. The place is very clean, and the 2 bathrooms are so useful. It's also very close to Unawatuna, 5 minutes by tuk tuk, where there is a big choice of restaurants and bars to spend the night time. The house is very safe because there is always someone of the family downstairs. If you rent a bike you can also park inside. If you want to feel like home this is the right place for you! We loved this place SO MUCH! The family hosting us were so kind and welcoming. We booked this place last minute at 10 pm, knocked on their door 5 min later, and even though they were not expecting us, they quickly got up and got everything ready for us. They were true life savers! The apartment is really nice, you get a living room with a refrigerator, a dining table, sofas, and a washing machine, you have a nice spacious terrace facing the sea, two separate bedrooms each with their own bathroom. The WiFi also works really well! By far, our best accommodation in Sri Lanka. I will definitely come back here once I return to Galle. Thank you so much for having us!

It is on the main road and a train track behind, however, this did not bother us at all.

The family were very lovely and welcoming, it is a spacious small apartment with a shower and toilet for each room. A balcony looks across to the sea.

It’s advertised with AC, it hasn’t, there are fans, which was enough for me. There was no hot water during our stay but it was so hot, we didn’t mention it to the owners, so that is on us.

The apartment was spacious, set on the road but the bedrooms are out the back so it wasn’t too noisy. There is a train line at the back of the house and trains do run. It had two separate bedrooms with double beds in with en-suit in both.There is no AC but the fan did me good. A washing machine, which is a bonus when you’re travelling. Location was opposite the beach on the other side of the road and you had a great view of the ocean, with two sun loungers on the balcony. A five minute walk to the corner shop. ATM is a good 10-15 minutes away and you will need transportation for this. The owners are lovely and brought us tea, bananas and crackers on our arrival. They live downstairs and the apartment is above. We stayed two nights which was enough.

This is a beautiful place! It’s clean and has a lot of comfort items to make you feel at home. We’re in town for a stressful event and coming back to this room was very peaceful. We will be happy to return

First of all there is only COLD water. When I asked the owner about it he said it was nowhere written that they have. (Making us feel that its an unusual standard). At night I woke up and I realised that there is a RAT in the bedroom where me and my 3-year-old slept. I didnt want to wake up the owners at night but the next morning we told them that we (4people)had to sleep on one bed in the other room because the rat didnt go away. They called a guy to take the rat of the flat but the owner (older lady)was only laughing at me when I didnt want to stand on the floor during this rat-chasing. They didnt feel bad about this situation at all, no bed sheets were changed though the rat was there a whole night, they didnt sanitize anything (though the rat run across everything )and though they promised the bathroom window and bathroom door was not repaired, so both of these were open the next night too (another chance to let any kind of animal to come into the bedroom). Simply there is no way to close the window or the door. The next day they asked us to leave saying that we are problematic and they deleted our booking reservation acting like we never showed up. I had to contact Booking to let them know that this place is deleting reservations when the owners feel like they will get bad review as the guest is not happy with the cold water for example. I guess they only have good reviews because they manipulate the numberts like this. Owners didnt try to make the problems better at all, even they acted like we are the problem. We had to find another flat with 2 little kids as they kicked us out, instead of saying sorry for what happened and at least they should have done a proper cleaning after such animal came in. Please dont chose this place.

We have mostly bad experience here, but the beach is lose. Please only book this place if you have no other option.
