Mr. Sunil and his wife made me feel at home. He came to pick me up with his Tuk Tuk and the next day he took me around the most beautiful places and Temples. I have visited the area Thanks to Sunil and known many stories of Life and culture including about the Tsunami. The House and the beautiful garden have very beautiful vibrations of Love and care. The rooms are big with comfortable beds. The beautiful beach is Just across the Road. I want to go back and stay longer.

The elderly owners are lovely people. Very hospitable. This family home is their ancestral home, full of antique furniture There is an internal courtyard with plants surrounding a fish pond. You have use of their kitchen. The garden is both large and a beautiful area to sit under the shade of a large tree or lounge in a hammock.

The Internet is very temperamental and the one electric socket in my room was hanging off the wall and didn't work. I used another socket outside my room in their sitting area. Not ideal. I did mention both problems to the couple on 2 occasions. The Internet was restored but didn't last long.

I stayed for 14 days with this wonderful family in 1984. I remembered them as inclusive and helpful, so I looked them up again and found Shammie Guest House now 39 years later. Then as now they fixed everything possible for us. Sunil drove me around in his Tuk Tuk to his friends around Hikkaduwa who have something exciting to offer. Example, a friend runs an organic farm in the nearby mangrove forest. Here I first saw a varan of approx 1m among crabs and fish, I thought it was cool until Sunil almost stepped on the tail of a varan that was bigger than me a fantastic experience. This is a family that does its best to make your stay a good one. Location is perfect in a quiet area with a short distance from the center of Hikkaduwa. I got the best breakfast of our entire 4-week trip, based on the fact that I asked for a little variation from what is the usual breakfast when traveling around. Perfect for families with small children sinc the whole outside area is closed by wall and a closed gate.

The couple is so friendly, they do everything to make you feel at home and they will help you with anything you need. The interior of the house and the rooms is old, but it gives a cozy vibe, as if you're staying at your grandparents. The room is very spacious and there's a mosquito net around the bed.

The sign at the street side is rather small so the first time we drove past it. The room was not véry clean, but still ok for us. Our toilet didn't flush properly.

Great hosts genoures and helpful. It was raining hard so I didn't go out to eat. They nocked on my door to offer me dinner

A very friendly host (Mr.Sunil and his wife) - gave the real homestay feeling. The entire space their house is located in is very pleasant. Located close to the beach, a 15 mins walk from most prominent bars in the Hikkaduwa area.

Rooms tend to get very hot, and charging ports could be made available in the rooms.
