Despite the AC it was too hot to have a blanket on the bed. When we asked for a sheet for the 2nd night, we got it though. It wasn't a good feeling when we asked to have breakfast at 8.15 because we needed to catch a train and the lady/owner wasn't pleased and tried to insist to serve it at 8.30 (it was only a 15 min difference).

Great location in a peaceful area very near the beaches.

Everything was perfect!

The best homestay!! The hosts are incredibly welcoming, more like family than a guest- so friendly and kind! Breakfast is lovely and they have the happiest dog Rexie who greets you in the morning 😊 location is excellent by the ocean & near the bus stop (coming from Matara) the rooms are clean, comfy and chill, friendly beach vibes- definately staying next time when I'm visiting Mirissa, 10/10 😊

Nothings as such. Everything was good for the price given.

Good for family stay also for singles. Room is decent enough for the stay. Close proximity to the attractions within 2-3 Kms. If required the owner will also arrange the rental vehicle(2 Wheeler) for an efficient price. Overall stay was good. The host was very helpful.

The most memorable thing about this place is the wonderful family that run the place. So welcoming and friendly. We had many nice chats and played a local board game in the evenings. Often asked if I needed a tea or coffee. Great included breakfast. I also went for a surf lesson with their son. 1 minute to a small beach where the fishing boats launch and 10 mins walk to Mirisa beach.

Everything was perfect !

Honestly, the place was hold by the most lovely family that we met in Sri Lanka, the room was really good for the price, the breakfast was stunning, dinner was delicious and was really consistent ! We spent 5 days at this place, and it was like being in the family ! Don’t hesitate to book at Sanda Hiru Guest !! Thanks again Damith !

We found a Home in Mirissa—Sanda Hiru stole our hearts 💛 We stayed at Sanda Hiru Guesthouse for two nights, and what we took back was far more than just memories—it felt like family. The room was spacious, spotless, and beautifully comfortable. Every detail reflected the care they put into hosting. Breakfasts were not only delicious but served with such love—you could taste it in every bite. This was packed for us to have it in our train journey when we going from Mirissa to Colombo so tweak it accordingly - The special treats like freshly made pancakes and those addictive coconut toffees were the sweetest surprise! And when we mentioned we wanted to try Sri Lankan masala, they went out of their way to get it for us. Honestly, who does that these days? But what truly made it special was them—the people. Genuine, kind-hearted, and full of warmth. We laughed together, shared stories, and created moments we’ll always carry with us. They didn’t just host us—they welcomed us like one of their own. We can’t wait to go back and stay with them again. If you’re heading to Mirissa and want more than just a place to sleep—go to Sanda Hiru. You’ll arrive as a guest and leave as a friend.

I loved everything

I had the most amazing time at Sanda Hiri Guesthouse, the Family is amazing, so friendly and funny, we played many games and I had the most amazing time with them. The breakfast which is included is great as well and the room is very spacious and clean! The location is also very good and close to everything (walking distance). I will definitely come back and highly recommend to stay there when you want to visit Mirissa.

Very pleasing host.. He knows English. Super sufficient breakfast. Spacious clean bathroom Can sit outside sipping a coffee looking the shade of mango tree in the courtyard. Good pillows. Good air conditioner Value for money.

Amazing Homestay. Brilliant value for money, with a brilliant breakfast included every morning. Room was spacious and air con was a bonus. Made it so easy for us to do laundry and rent a scooter. Location fantastic easy to visit both mirissa and weligama. Family gave us great insight into local area. 10:/10

I had my best time with Damith's family, they are so kind, so welcoming and such a beautiful family, I felt like at home! The guesthouse is in a very quiet street not far from the bus stand and near many restaurants, 20 min walk to the secret beach and near the harbour for the whale watching excursions. Rooms are very big, have AC, hot water and a big mosquito net and a desk if you need to work. Internet is working and you have a little table and chair outside the room if you want to enjoy some time in the garden. Breakfast is delicious (best pancakes 🥞 😋) and I really enjoyed playing board games with them. Also they have a cute dog! I highly recommend staying here, maybe the highlight of my trip in Sri Lanka!

It was wonderful to cool off in the spacious room with air conditioning after a long day of heat. We had a fantastic time here. The family running the place was very kind, always smiling, and extremely helpful. The breakfast was generous and delicious. I highly recommend this place!

- The warm welcome I received after a long day’s travelling was much appreciated, as well as the delicious food! - The room was very spacious and the bed was comfortable. - Breakfast was filling and included fresh fruit everyday, and there was variety. - The family were available to help with questions, organising trips and making restaurant recommendations! - Peaceful location. - I felt very safe.
