We stayed at Lalanga Homestay in Kandy and had a truly wonderful experience. Our family was given two very well-prepared rooms, both spotless and comfortable. The house itself is fascinating, with a pleasant architectural style that makes it stand out and adds to the overall charm of the stay. What made the difference was the family: they welcomed us with genuine warmth and made us feel part of their home from the very first moment. The property is slightly secluded, but this is not a downside — on the contrary, it offers peace and quiet away from the bustle of the city. In our case, we had a car and found the location absolutely perfect. Breakfast was another highlight: very abundant, freshly prepared, and entirely local, a true taste of Sri Lankan hospitality. A highly recommended stay for anyone visiting Kandy!

It is in a paceful area. Very quite, clean and cosy. Breakfast was delicious. You will need tuk tuk for visiting the main attractions because it is quite far.

It was all good.

Really clean. I mean exceptionally clean. An older property with decor and furniture to match its age. I stayed in the deluxe double which was a very big room with a small window, but it wasn't dark as the internal lighting was good. Plenty of shelves and places to put clothes and bags. Comfortable bed. Big bathroom, good water pressure. Very nice and helpful hosts. Food was outstanding. Excellent breakfast with some choices. Dinners were really good Sri Lankan rice and curry which were cooked with care and skill. If you ask in advance what the options are you can choose what you want. A variety of curries are served, plus a dessert. I stayed 3 nights and ate dinner there twice as it was great and inexpensive. It is a little out of town on a hill but easily accessible by tuk-tuk or scooter.

The person managing messages for the property takes a very long time to respond, and when they do, the replies lack any useful detail. As a result, I ended up booking overpriced tours elsewhere. I’d really appreciate clearer and more timely communication in the future.

The family is incredibly kind, welcoming, and truly goes above and beyond to make you feel at home. The breakfast is delicious and generous, and if you choose to have dinner, you're in for something special - you definitely won’t leave hungry. I absolutely loved my stay and wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone. This family will always have a special place in my heart

The room was sparkling clean and we had a great valley view from the balcony. A bottle of water was provided at no extra charge. We only stayed one night, but the complimentary breakfast really stood out. We had so many delicious Sri Lankan meals on the table that we had a hard time finishing it all - super tasty!

Such kind and hospitable hosts, they had dinner ready for us on arrival (even after we came so late) and an amazing breakfast prepared for us in the morning! The view from our room was so beautiful and peaceful. Such a great stay at such a reasonable price. We would definitely recommend staying here if you're in Kandy!

Seldom in all of my travels have I encountered a place so welcoming, comfortable, peaceful, with kind hosts and great meals at such a super affordable price. Staying here is a sheer delight, in a quiet neighborhood next to the Mahaweli River in an architectural home on four levels, with lots of space to be as solitary or as social as you care to be. And the home-cooked meals (breakfast was provided as part of the room rate) were simply exceptional, with generous portions and great desserts. Just an outstanding experience!

The family at Lalanga are super welcoming and you’re made to feel at home. The food is great and very generous. It’s a nice, quiet location, slightly out of Kandy, which is something to bear in mind. But Tuktuks are reasonable into the centre. Room is basic but perfect for the price.

Extra care towards providing completely vegetarian food to my wife, while serving me non veg dishes. Availability of Dinner at reasonable price, while quatity is huge. Free drinking water, as and when required. Tuktuk support during our departure, while Pick me Apps could not provide any vehicle despite long wait. We are very happy with all the family members of Lalanga Homestay. A must recommendation to all Kandy visitors.
