Very nice accommodation. We can definitely recommend it to others. The room is basic and can be loud at times, but what do you expect for the really good price. The location is great and you can walk to the beach in about two minutes. The best thing is definitely the owners. They are very friendly and you can always write to them if you have any problems. In the end, one of them even took us to the bus stop and waited with us for the right bus. So really great!!!

Samudra Guest House is a lovely family run establishment in a fantastic location. The family/staff couldn't do enough for me, they provided a lovely Sri Lankan breakfast each morning, parking for my Tuktuk, an air conditioned large double bedroom, good wifi, a good en-suite, and were a 4 minute walk to Mirissa Beach and an 8 minute walk to the main street where there is a wide array of restaurants. They even offered to help facilitate my transportation to the airport on my departure. Considering this homestay cost me around £15 per night, I think it was great value for money. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and I look forward to coming back again.

I think this homestay could go from an 8 to a 10 by improving the bed sheet and light situation. The bed I had was an enormous 4 poster queen sized bed with a very comfortable mattress but the bedsheets didn't look clean and the single pillow and small throw I had to sleep under wasn't the most comfortable. As well as this the window had a curtain nailed against it which you couldn't draw either way so there was no natural light in the room. However, overall it was a very nice stay.

Good location close to the beach! Very kind staff. Bottled water right at your doorstep.

It wasn't super clean but it wasn't bad either.

This guest house was a wonderful place to stay. Great location - just a few minutes walk to Mirissa Beach or the town hub. Wonderful hosts - always smiling and happy to help with anything. The room was spacious and the aircon worked well. There was even a kettle in the room for you to make yourself tea. Wonderful breakfasts served on your terrace/balcony (a little different each day). We hired a scooter too to explore the area.

Everything was wonderful - especially the amazing hosts. There was some noise at night from neighbouring hotels/beach bars but I guess that is to be expected in the area & can happen anywhere you stay in Mirissa. I would happily stay here again and recommend to others.

Property very close to the beach with a view to the small garden. Outside of a room is a table where you can eat and sit at the evening. Very big comfy bed. Kettle with tea available, also b-fast at ones wish. There is an fan at the ceilling which for me was good to cool down the hot nights. Extremely nice and helpful owners but in a very kind and subtle way. Helping when you need help but not pushy in any way. They can organise safari at closest National Park in Udawalawe with secure car and jeep drivers or drive you anywhere closeby with tuk tuk.

This wonderful little gem, run by the sweetest family, was exactly what I was looking for. Warmly recommend!! The family was some of the best people I've met on all my travels, in full honesty. As I was moving out, they were installing brand new AC's in all the rooms btw! Do visit! Victor

Location is super convenient with the beach and restaurants around the corner and shops just up the road. Air con worked well. Ask for the curry with rice and fried onion and chilli breakfast. The best thing I ate in Mirissa.

There are gaps at the edges of the ceiling all around the room. No safety deposit box as listed. Have to pay for all bottled water, although this seems standard in Sri Lanka. Wifi doesn’t work inside the room (fine out on the balcony). Also seems common in Sri Lanka. I can’t really complain about the level of hospitality, but I found it unnecessarily awkward and invasive at times. Although I booked for one adult, it was meant to be a “deluxe double room”, yet only had one pillow. Aldo only had a wafer thin blanket that wasn’t even a double size for linen. Towels are older than the ones my mum has from my childhood in storage. The owners tried a couple of times to upsell me to extend my stay and I was told we could “modify the booking and get some discount.” I didn’t accept as I got the vibe they might be trying to book extra business while trying to avoid paying some Booking fees and I didn’t appreciate them suggesting my plans to see other spots nearby and in Colombo weren’t good, so I should stay longer there (I had already booked for one week). I ended up paying for the full booking, but leaving two nights early and moved to Hikkaduwa.
