How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

First of all, I must say the property owner is extremely kind and helpful. The room and the washroom were both in excellent condition, very clean and well-maintained. Overall, it was a wonderful stay and I truly appreciate the hospitality.

The guest house is close to bus and train station, the room and bathroom were clean and in my opinion the bed was confortable, l slept very well, also fan worked at best. The owner is helpful and kind, and makes sure that everything is going well. A common aerea is equipped with a refrigerator.

Nothing really.
Very clean and comfortable. The location is great if you’re arriving by train or bus, just a few meters from the stations and also super close to the beach and many restaurants and markets. The host is super friendly and helpful with everything you need, although he is not in the accommodation he’s always checking in via what’s app to make sure everything’s ok and we have everything we need. We couldn’t ask for anything more to be honest.

The only downside is that it can get very hot if you're sleeping on the upper floor.
We were very pleased with our stay at Roshan's Guesthouse. Roshan is one of the nicest hosts you will encounter. Kind and helpful. The location is great and the room is simple but equipped with everything you need.

It could be a bit cleaner. The bathroom was hot and we needed to cross a small corridor to reach it, which was a bit inconvinient.
It was close to the train station, which was important for us. It was also close to hikkaduwa beach. The guy was nice, he was checking on us constantly during our stay, his english was also good.

Nothing. It worked out well for me
Roshan the host was a pretty chilled out dude, with no hassle. The room was exactly what I wanted. Clean, simple, and easy to get to from the center and gives you access to everything. I would recommend his place for solo travellers anytime

The owner is a very attentive guy who speaks good English The room is spotless and comes with everything you need, kettle, mosquitoe net and etc Location is at the center, 2 min walk to bus stop, train station, beach, lots of restaurants and supermarkets nearby It can't be better than this for it's price

everything you need out of a homestay! great price, working air conditioning, a spacious room with a comfy bed that even had a sink and a kettle, private bathroom with some cool penguin wallpaper, great location very close to the beach. Roshan is a great, friendly host who takes good care of you and ensures your comfort.

The room is very spacious and clean. Well equipped with everything we need including a kettle, sink in the room and a dryer for clothes. The location is great, staff is helpful and polite.

It is on the main road and near the train station so there is a noise from early morning. But that is not problem of the accomodation.
Accomodation is very close to the beach. It has very good fan, wifi works also fine, it was clean. Owner is nice, helpful and speaks good english.
