We truly enjoyed our stay. The location was ideal, providing convenient access to nearby attractions. The food was outstanding, offering a wide range of tasty dishes that went beyond my expectations. The location is on a hill, which is quite slopey. But it was totally worth it.

The property is unique to say the least. The host is extremely warm and made my family feel very comfortable. She even helped me with special requests and guided us to the house. The breakfast was delicious. Highly recommend this house.

We have no criticisms of the property at all, but visitors should be aware that it is a homestay, and is in quite a rural location, only accessible on foot for the last 100m or so, along a muddy and rocky path. Because the hill that it's on is very steep, it can only be reached by tuk tuk and not by car. We did walk into Ella once, but it took us closer to 1 hour (down one steep hill and up another), rather than the 35 minutes taken by other reviewers. It is a reasonably pleasant walk, but is unlikely to be a walk you'll want to do more than once or twice. Overall, we had a wonderful stay.

We loved our stay here. The property is a very nicely presented homestay, with a separate entrance to the part of the house used by the family, on the side of a steep hill, surrounded by forest. The host is very kind and attentive, and it was lovely to see and hear the animals around us. The included breakfast of fresh fruit, pancakes/omelette and toast was great. The stay was excellent value for money.

All was perfect.

Damauanthi also offered a Cooking Class that was the best I have ever had. The accommodation is modern and in a beautiful part of Ella. There are some stunning walks nearby.

The flat is located in a quiet neighbourhood on the mountain. Nevertheless, it was very easy to get to the city and you could also walk to beautiful destinations (Ravana Cave, Ravana Cave Temple). Due to the hillside location, there were power cuts from time to time, but these were not annoying.

We had a great time with lots of wonderful experiences. She showed us local fruit and vegetables, harvested them together and even cooked with us in a joint cookery course (highly recommended). The breakfast with regional dishes was very tasty. She went to great lengths to make our stay as pleasant as possible.

Lots of bugs but this can’t be helped due to the location in the jungle. We didn’t realise breakfast wasn’t included and along with laundry, dinner was more expensive than we have paid elsewhere. This added up to be expensive in the end.

It was a hidden gem, the room was very tidy with a new layout and good shower. The view of the jungle was amazing and we saw monkeys and bats. The lady was so welcoming and sweet she made us a really nice local dinner and made us feel at home.

Her friendly demeanor and willingness to go above and beyond to ensure our comfort were truly commendable. Whether it was providing local recommendations, ensuring my room was perfectly prepared, or simply greeting us every day, Damayanthi exemplified the highest standards of customer service. The hotel itself was fantastic, with beautifully maintained rooms, modern amenities, and a serene ambiance that perfectly captured the essence of Sri Lankan hospitality and the staff were always attentive and accommodating. Overall, my stay at Rawana Cave Lodge Homestay exceeded all expectations, largely due to the outstanding service provided by Damayanthi and the rest of the hotel staff. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a perfect blend of comfort, luxury, and exceptional hospitality. I look forward to returning in the future!
