Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Kingdomnothing to not like!
The staff at this place are some of the kindest people i have had the pleasure of meeting. They made sure that we were comfortable at our time there. The food was amazing and we were never left without tea/coffee. If you are climbing Adam's Peak then you have to stay here.

PortugalThe entrance to Queens Ark property is a little tricky to find. It would be nice to receive more detailed instructions on how to find the property previously.
Unfortunately, we were not able to stay at this property due to a hosts’ unexpected event. We would like to have been informed a little earlier, but understand that it may have not been possible. Nonetheless, the host’s family arranged a night for us in a nearby hotel and everything went okay. You can walk from the accommodation to the start of Adams Peak/Sri Pada trail.

Sri LankaNothing.
During our Sri Pada hike, we descended to Nallathanniya from Udamaliboda , completely exhausted and drenched from the heavy rain. It was quite late in the evening when we made our booking, but the host was extremely supportive and gave both my sister and me a warm welcome, which we truly appreciated. The room exceeded our expectations spacious, clean, and equipped with hot water. The bathroom was also clean and tidy. We were able to get a good rest here after the long journey. The rate was very reasonable for two people. Highly recommended for any tired hikers looking for comfort and kindness after a tough trail.

NetherlandsBe aware that you can easily hear departing guests through the echoing hallway, so earplugs are recommended if you are a light sleeper.
Queens Ark is the perfect place to stay if you want to climb Adam’s Peak. The beds are very comfortable. However, you can hear some noise from the building itself, so earplugs are recommended if you are a light sleeper. The shower and toilet are excellent, and everything is spacious and spotlessly clean. The owner is incredibly kind, helpful, and genuinely interested. We even played a game with him. Don’t be put off by the entrance: like many buildings in Sri Lanka, the hotel is partly under construction. You have to walk through what looks like a construction site, but once inside, everything is perfectly arranged. We had dinner at the hotel twice, and the food was delicious – especially the curry. Breakfast was great too, with a tasty omelet. Tips for climbing Adam’s Peak A warning: do not attempt the climb during the weekend. We encountered a traffic jam close to the summit and had to turn back after three hours. If you notice a traffic jam (ask people coming down when you are near the top), take the detour at the large Buddha statue to the right. This will add about twenty minutes to your climb but will bring you straight to the summit. The main route leads to the temple first, not directly to the top. Tip: you can easily find the detour route on the Maps.me app. We left at 2:15 a.m. and took about 3.5 hours to reach the top. Bring some toilet paper and a warm sweater. You don't need to carry too much water, as you can buy it along the way. After returning, Nimal prepared a wonderful breakfast for us, and we enjoyed four hours of well-deserved sleep. In the evening, we had another delicious meal. Highly recommended

AustraliaThe entrance to the hotel is unfinished (Nimal is saving for his next building stage) and in fact it’s a little hard to recognise it as a hotel at all from the street. Never mind, once you are in you will be made to feel incredibly at home. Our family occupied the two lower rooms, very peaceful and quiet with little garden and river outlook (couldn’t hear the traffic on street) but there was a slight dampness in the air. If you can, request an upper room as they are more airy.
The best thing about this hotel is the owner, Nimal. Such a friendly guy and will go out of his way to ensure you have a great stay. It was school holidays and his family were around. It really felt like a friendly home stay! His wife cooked us the most delicious curries with chicken, Dahl, pappadam, coconut sambal, vegetables- prepared for our late arrival on first evening and we ate in their lovely colourfully decorated dining area. Dinner was so good, we asked for it again next night! Breakfast was also delicious with tropical fruits, eggs, roti, toasts, fresh squeezed juices etc. The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. It’s only a short walk to start of Adam’s Peak trail. We were there during Sri Lankan NY holidays (April). Was so busy with local religious pilgrimage (scores of busloads) that we decided not to climb. Not our kind of walking- we like nature and tranquility. Instead, Nimal suggested a walk through tea plantations and to see two beautiful waterfalls. It was so scenic and incredibly peaceful and it surpassed the thought of fighting crowds trying to get up Adam’s Peak. My sons even had a swim. The area itself is just incredibly beautiful and worth visiting!

AustraliaIt was all good in my opinion.
Such a nice place to stay, the owner Nimal is an incredibly kind and attentive host. We arrived so much later than expected and he was still up waiting for us with food ready to serve and a warm welcome. We stayed at an exceptionally busy time of year, there was so much traffic on the road outside but the hotel rooms are set down the cliff from the road so you couldn't hear any of the traffic, the room was actually so peaceful. The entrance to the accommodation doesn't look like much but don't let it fool you, the interior is very comfortable, the balconies have stunning views and the food provided was absolutely delicious. If you're staying to climb Adams peak, this hotel is so close to the base that you can start walking straight from it. Nimal also knows a lot about the hike so if you have any concerns he is really informative.

GermanyThere is no better stay than here. Honestly. We pre-booked only 1 night but stayed for 4 nights instead. Our TukTuk lost function on our way to the accommodation and I got sick while being here. Namil (the host) managed to turn these worst-case-scenarios in best-case-scenarios. He is the best host one could wish for. My girlfriend and I always felt very welcomed, understood and almost like home. The rooms are clean, spacious with very cosy beds. During my sickness I had plenty of options to worship the beautiful view from our windows. The food cooked here is remarkable and belongs to the best food we have eaten during our 3-weeks-Trip through Sri Lanka. Food is always freshly made and adjusted to your needs. Namil will always be there for you and will care for you like you are family. We hope to have found a friend here. We highly recommend considering (and picking) this accommodation for your stay.

GermanyWe stayed for only one night at Queens Ark because we wanted to hike up Adam's Peak. In retrospect we should have stayed at least one more night and explored the area a bit more. Nimal and his family are wonderful hosts and told us about other interesting hikes to nearby waterfalls, that we regrettably couldn't do. The place is comfy and quiet at night, the view from the breakfast/dinner table and the room is great and the food delicious and plentiful. Nimal prepared sandwiches and bananas for the hike and made sure we had a wonderful stay. Definitely recommended!

Sri LankaIt lacks amenities and the rooms are very basic but the beds are comfortable . I know they're working hard to complete the project and will eventually be a great place to stay if you plan on climbing Adams peak.
The hotel is a work-in-progress. It's on a hill with a bunker style entrance with no reception. You might seem like you've made a mistake in booking but rest assured once you arrive they will go above and beyond to make your stay a very pleasant one. We chose it for the location and it's proximity to Adams Peak. Only about 400 meters to the start. The staff very friendly. They're a small family run inn with everyone going over and above to make your stay as comfortable possie and they do it with a smile. Nimal, his wife, brother and other staff are a great team of hospitable people. The food was very tasty and flavourful. We had all 3 meals in the two days we stayed whilst climbing Adams peak and they made sure the food was served hot and I felt like I was having home cooked meals. Sri lankan food was done well. The sandwiches were simple but enjoyable and filling. The curries were thick and flavourful. They weren't stingy on ingredients and portion sizes either. The toilets are new and elegantly designed with good hot water. I'm very fussy about the bathrooms being clean and also pleasing to the eye and I was not disappointed.
