Ella in general is overpriced relative to other parts of the country, and we felt the premium we paid for an aircon room was high. That said we booked relatively last minute and it was a holiday weekend so that may have also factored into choice.

Great location and views - only 10min walk to the centre along the train track and also straight onto the Ella rock trail. Lovely owners who were helpful with clothes washing etc and we really valued having the large air conditioned room.

It's such a beautiful, peaceful place. Greeted with some tea and biscuits out on our balcony from friendly staff. Breathtaking view from our beautiful room. Very comfortable bed, lovely hot shower and so very quiet. Sheer peace on earth. Wonderful family run guest house, so friendly and helpful.

We received a very warm welcome and a lovely pot of tea to drink on our balcony. Our room was clean and spacious, with a balcony and a fantastic view of the hills. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The location was great- just a short walk into the main town along the railway line. I highly recommend this place.

Lovely view from the balcony. Location was walking distance (10-15 mins) on the train track that was a great experience to walk down to the central shops. Staff were kind and accommodating. Laundry service was also provided. Hosts were very receptive and kind. Breakfast was yum.

Short tuktuk ride from the town itself (about 5 mins) is required at night. During the day, easy 15mins walk following the train tracks. The fact that you are up in the hills really allows you to relax and disconnect from the buzzing city. About 2x more expensive than other guest houses, but still totally worth it.

Amazing place, calm, clean and new. Incredible view of the mountains. Great breakfast Super helpful staff - helped us book many tuktuks to main attractions in Ella, gave advices on best moments for hikes and helped us book transport to Colombo.

Our room was very room and clean. There were two queen beds with soft mattresses, a small kitchen and a balcony with an amazing view! In our 3 week stay in Sri Lanka this was by far the best view we had! The breakfast was delicious with fresh fruits and local pasteries! Just excellent!

Absolutely stunning location, with fabulous views from our room and breakfast area. Clean spacious room with lovely en suite bathroom. Staff incredibly friendly and helpful. Dhana, the owner can arrange lots of local trips and further afield beyond Ella which was great for us. Highly recommend.

We little bit old for a good walk to the town centre.

Very good view. Quite and nice. Town center little bit away ten minutes walk on the hill, but there are tuk tuk available. Good breakfast and rooms are big nice with nice bathroom. Overall very good

The guesthouse is situated a bit outside of town, and during the day, it was easy to walk into town along the railway line. However, at night, I would recommend catching a tuktuk. The benefit of the location, though, is the peace and tranquility! The room initially smelt a bit musty, but after turning on the air conditioning it stayed fresh.

I very much enjoyed my stay at Paraiso Guest House, and I would definitely stay here again! The hosts were kind and attentive, and the view from my balcony was fantastic! My room was spacious and clean, and I particularly liked the large bathroom, which was modern and tastefully decorated. The air conditioning worked well and kept the room fresh. The guesthouse is situated close to the railway line, which was helpful for walking into town as well as to some of the sights. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Friendly owners, excellent breakfast with Hugh mount of food. Very quiet and easy walking to town via the railway line. Access to Australian ABC on the TV.

A little difficult to find initially.

Super friendly welcome. Helped with bags. Immediately arranged a tuc tuc for early train next day without us even requesting it. Helped us with pick up of a hire car. Brought us tea and biscuits. Room immaculate and beautifully presented. Made us a breakfast to take and was up with us at 5.45 am. Walk into Ella along railway line about 15 minutes. Otherwise easy to reach by tuc tuc. Nice to be out of the busy town.

Everything was perfect. From strat to end everything good. Welcome with tea with biscuits. room was really comfortable and great view. we saw sunrise from our balcony around 6am. breakfast was very tasty and changed everyday, specially they asked about allergies. Owner and staff is ready to help anytime. That place is really good for what we paid amount. We’ll come back again for sure…

If we need to give a rating, it would be 11/10. Dhana (host) gave us a wonderful time at his accommodation. He helped us planning things, renting a scooter and suggesting activities or hiking routes. The breakfast was really amazing, just as the view you have from the terrace. If we need to recommend a place in Ella, Paraiso it is! Thanks for everything Dhana!

The only downside was the deluxe room we stayed in (like other reviews) had a very damp smell, if this was sorted it would have been perfect stay. But we didn’t feel big enough issue to raise at the time as we spent all day out of the room! Other reviews mention insects but this is to be expected with large glass windows with lights at night. Just keep the doors shut, it’s not bad at all.

Staff are amazing. Really helped organise our whole time in Ella. It really made the trip so easy and this was my favourite part of Sri Lanka. Even organised a day trip to yala and then transfer to Arugam bay. All sorted by Dhana. Breakfast was also great. Amazing view. Thanks Dhana.
