The hospitality of the staff and location. You can walk to Sigiriya in 10 minutes and you're also quite close to Dambulla and Minneriya by tuk tuk. They inform you so well about the options and places to visit nearby.

Palitha Homestay is one of the most welcoming places we have stayed in! The place is surrounded by forest (which allows you to spot different kind of animals around), the rooms are simple but clean and have everything you need. The breakfast is good, the dinner even better :-)  PLUS: The common area convinces with two comfortable hammocks! In the evening, you are advised to not leave the place for a walk because of the risk of encountering wild elefants. On our way back from the safari we actually did see an elefant roaming the area, so we can only recommend to follow these valuable instructions ;-) The host went beyond our expectations in order to make our stay most comfortable: When we wanted to get to Pidurangala Rock in the very early morning to see the sunrise, he drove us there himself; same for getting to Dambulla. He organised a wonderful elefant safari to Minneriya National Park for us, as well as the transport to our next location. All of this for very (!) fair prices. We can only recommend this place!

The manager was super friendly and always available. We enjoyed a great local dinner on our first night and amazing local breakfasts every morning. The homestay is very close to the centre, yet surrounded by nature.. so don’t be surprised if you spot some little insects or frogs wandering around! Overall the rooms were clean and spacious. We loved our stay!

Our son got sick during our vacation, and our host family was extremely helpful. They recommended a good doctor and even went with us several times – we’re very thankful for their support. They also helped us plan trips to the national park, visit Lion Rock, and find a nice restaurant. The breakfast was generous and tasty, and the food in general is definitely worth recommending.

Our experience at this hotel was amazing! Our host was incredibly nice and helpful — he helped us plan our entire trip in Sigiriya and made everything so easy. You can book taxis, tuk-tuks, and even a Minneriya safari directly through him, which was super convenient. The breakfast was delicious, the location is great, and the rooms are very clean and well-equipped with AC. I can’t recommend this place enough!

The advice we got was a bit off (about transport booking and recommendations about when to visit sigiriya rock). We had dinner there which was okay as compared to other meals we had in Sri Lanka.

The owners were nice. Room was comfortable. We really liked the pancakes they made one morning.

Everything was great so if I had to be very picky, the towels smelled differently. Maybe I’m not used to the laundry soap in Sri Lanka yet.

Everything about this place was great. The staff were very helpful with booking a safari(cheaper to book with them verses a travel site), tuktuk to Sigiriya lion rock at 5am(book the night before so you can make sunrise and PickMe will not work) and they were amazing helping me get to my next location with directions. WiFi was stable the whole time which was great. Posted a screenshot for anyone needing WiFi information. Breakfast was coconut pancakes with fruit and coffee/tea which was really good. I opted for the home cooked dinner which was really good and a large portion with a beer and I would recommend as well. I would stay there again!

Be careful of the metal edge where place the cup, I cut my finger, otherwise everything is OK

A very new living experience, is like living in the wood camping, and there is so many wild animals, you can hear them singing and yelling. The host is very polite. The hotel is close to the lion lock, if you use a Google map, if you just type lion lock, it will lead you to a wrong entrance, so you need to search lion lock library where sells the tickets.
