Not much around for tourists in the town, only a base for Yala

Spacious accommodation, short walk to the Main Street, fine for us for one night for going to Yala Safari. Our room was older than the photos and shower was ok. Good aircon and staff were very helpful.

The location was good for the National parks and the garden setting pleasant. We were disappointed that there was a problem with the pool so the water was too murky to swim in. The hotel is ok, but a bit down at heel. We didn’t have any hot water in the shower either.

Very very close to the town where there are plenty of shops and restaurants. The owner even gave us a lift to a restaurant he recommended one of the nights. We were getting a late taxi and let us stay poolside for the day whilst waiting for this. He offers a private Safari service too which unfortunately we didn’t use but had we known he did this service we would have.

Wonderful stay!! Spacious, super clean room (high ceilings and big room)....the grounds are gorgeous, ample common areas, and the staff were very kind. The restaurant was a great value and super convenient!! Definitely a wonderful place to stay!! Only a small knock bc the laundry was quite expensive (even by USA standards) and not cleaned (or dried) to my expectations for the price

Accommodation was okay, toilet very bad, water pressure weak. Pool is great, clean and good temperature water. The host at the reception is very pleasant, however the elderly man for whom they said is the owner kept coming to us with tasteless jokes and does not know personal space. They organized a safari to Yala National Park for us. It cost us $70 per person. The park is beautiful, but we were not satisfied with the driver.

Breakfast didn't meet our expectations compared to other hotels in Sri Lanka. There was a lot of flies in the breakfast area outside. We had to wait a long time for getting warm water in the shower.

The cleanliness of the hotel room was lacking and we had to ask for our sheets to be changed. Also as female travellers the male hotel staff made us feel uncomfortable when we were at the pool.

The garden and pool were beautiful. The safari organised for us was great with a nice guide! The manager was welcoming and helpful.

Service at the restaurant was slow and not very friendly; staff made fire next to the pool, thus there was lots of smoke and ash in the air.

However, our experience was mixed. We didn't have hot water for three days, which was disappointing. While the staff was attentive in arranging our first safari at a reasonable price (paid in cash), we felt uncomfortable with the persistent follow-up when we decided to arrange our second safari independently. We ended up booking through Agoda, which was both cheaper and a better experience. This left us with a slightly uncomfortable feeling, as the line between hospitality and pushiness felt blurred. It's also worth noting that the hotel doesn't offer breakfast directly. Instead, it's available at Javu’s grestaurant, but you have to pay in cash for every meal. Unfortunately, the service there was a bit 'cold,' and the soft drinks weren't chilled, which added to our mixed feelings about the stay.

Hotel Nilketha is a new property with modern rooms that have a distinctly Sri Lankan style. The air conditioning works well, and the pool area is nice, with towels provided. The hotel has plenty of space to walk and sit, which we appreciated. The WiFi is good in common areas but unfortunately doesn't reach the rooms, so we found ourselves sitting outside our room on a rainy evening. One positive note is the front desk manager, who was very helpful in resolving a booking.com error, only charging us for three nights plus the booking.com fee when the platform was unreachable.

Good stay overal, the location is good: a bit away from the centre but still close enough to walk there in 10 min. The staff was kind and helpfull. They helped us with arrangeing a safari for us which went great!! The pool is also great, for this price you couldnt ask for more.
