TurkeyEuropean tourists can behave disrespectfully toward other guests when renting a room for a few days, acting as if they have bought the entire hotel, shouting, laughing, and making noise. This is a very unfortunate situation. If you don't know how to stay in such quiet, peaceful family-run establishments, please stay in hostels. Asians are very polite and kind, so they find it difficult to take measures against your disrespectful behavior.
Shiley is incredibly kind, helpful, and respectful. She welcomed us very warmly. The cold towel and freshly squeezed fruit gesture was very nice. She asked about our plans every day and gave us information about places to visit. Our room was clean, tidy, and had all the amenities we could want. Breakfast was filling and delicious.

Everything about this homestay is 10/10, super cozy rooms, very clean, comfy beds and comfy pillows, spacious bathroom, the breakfast was so delicious every single day and Shirley the manager is so so nice and always making sure all needs are met and all guests feel comfortable and have the best experience in Ella. Shirley also recommended what sort of activities to do around Ella and he also can arrange transportation to go around the town and even to connect from Ella to another city.

SerbiaI checked more than 20 options in Ella before choosing New Blue Home, and honestly, I think it was my best choice so far out of all the places we stayed in Sri Lanka. The location is perfect — close to the town center where all the dining places are, but still in a quiet neighborhood. It’s also just a short walk to the Nine Arch Bridge, which was super convenient. The biggest highlight for us was Shirley. He was extremely nice and helpful, and made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. He helped with anything we needed, gave us great advice about places to visit and the best times to go, and even arranged transport so we could see several spots in one day and make the most of our time. Our room was clean, the bed was very comfortable, and every morning Shirley made us a tasty breakfast, served on the terrace with a lovely mountain view. I would highly recommend this place for your choice. If we ever come back to Ella, we’ll definitely stay here again.

RussiaAs we have seen few rooms it seemed the triple room downstairs is the darkest one and had dampness. That’s understandable due to Ella’s climate, but other rooms were not as wet and I would recommend to ventilate it by opening the windows and door more frequently. Except of this we had only positive experience and would love to come back to be accommodated on the 2nd floor next time :)
Shirley was very helpful and quickly reacted on all our questions and needs, thanks to him our stay was more comfortable:) the breakfasts were very good and we were observing the animals outside :) also for us was very useful to have an electric kettle in the room, so we could enjoy some cup of tea!

GermanyIt was a really nice stay and the employee Shirley did everything he could to help to improve the stay, even though my friend was I'll. He prepared tea and the host also provided a steam treatment for her. Also I was able to rent a bike there and get information on what to visit in the vicinity including food recommendations. Even when we left the last day at 3am in the morning, breakfast to go was provided for us. Best experience in Sri Lanka so far👌🏾

MalaysiaAbout 20 mins walk from the railway station. Near Nine Arch Bridge path too. The room and bathroom are spacious and clean. Breakfast is basic and sufficient. The guy is fantastic, I need to leave around 5:45am to catch an early train to Colombo, and he packed the breakfast and unlocked the gate for me! Appreciate it! Will be great if an electric kettle is also provided in the room.

United KingdomHad a great stay at New Blue Home. Nice room and lovely surroundings. Really convenient location for the Little Adam's Peak and Nine Arches Bridge trails as well as being a short walk from the centre. Our host Shirley was especially amazing. Extremely helpful and very smiley. While we were in Ella he gave us recommendations and arranged a tuk-tuk. He also arranged a trip for us to Yala NP then a drop off in Mirissa which was really appreciated. On the last night when we arrived home in a mad rainstorm he appeared with an umbrella and a huge strip light to get us to our room. Plus at our 4am start the next morning he was there to make sure we got our taxi and gave us surprise packed lunches. I'm not sure he ever sleeps! Such a lovely guy!
