Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustriaIf you want more food options take the Tuk Tuk to the nearest village / town.
The wonderful team at My Resort Yala made our 3 day stay a perfect experience. It has the most wonderful view across rice fields and lakes, and while off the beaten path, you can take a bike and have a nice tour around the lake in about 30 minutes and then cool off in the clean pool under palm trees. Small hotel with 4 spacious rooms, ours had one king size and one queen size bed and a very large balcony (no mosquitos ?!). Bats, peacocks, buffalos etc all in your view. Standard breakfast, lunch and dinner options, fridge with soft drinks and beer. A perfect base for safaris in Yala National Park, operated by the excellent Janaka Safari team. We also went to the Perahera in Kataragama, a most unique full moon festival (think procession with decorated elephants; 30 min Tuk Tuk ride) Easily the nicest resort/small hotel in the neighbourhood! 5***** recommendation

PortugalNot much really. Perhaps the sun beds in the pool could have a cushion (to make them more comfortable).
Great accommodation in Tissa! The rooms are spacious and clean, and have a balcony with a beautiful view to rice fields. The pool is really nice. Great value for money. The owners helped organize the full day safari. Really great tour (we saw 2 leopards) with a guide that doesn’t follow the crowds and truly explores the park. The location is not super close to centre but they have bicycles we can use (just a 20min bike ride)

The place is fantastic. The room is spacious and has all the amenities you need. Small fridge, kettle tea coffee. There is water in the bedroom as well. We had an amazing stay. They can accommodate for dinner. The food was absolutely delicious and all home made. They offer tours to Yala park as well and it's definitely worth it we had one of the best guides.

Our room was spacious and very clean, with mosquito nets provided. We really had everthing we could need: hair dryer, fridge, drinking water dispenser, water cooker with tea/coffee and even a small cutting board. The view from the balcony was really nice overlooking the rice fields. The garden and the pool were also clean and a nice place to relax. But the best thing about this resort are clearly the hosts! Their heart-warming, outstanding hospitality made our stay perfect. They cooked the best curries we had in Sri Lanka for us, also an amazing breakfast and had good recommendations for the area. We also booked a Full-Day Safari with them and it was the best decision ever for a Safari in Yala! So all in all a perfect stay, we would definitely come again

Very clean, modern and spacious rooms. I would ABSOLUTELY go there again. You get delicious curry and extensive breakfast if you want. The village itself is not crazy, but the hotel has bikes that you can just take to go for a quick ride to the lake, a restaurant, or else. Very good starting point for tours to Yala NP which you can also book through the hotel.

AustraliaWe did two half day safari tours. Both guides worked very hard to show us a leopard. The second safari tour we had an awesome encounter with a leopard. It was also just the two of us. At the end of the tour the guide asked us to pay him. We were of the understanding that we were paying at the end of our stay and there was also a price discrepancy as we were the only ones on the tour and this hadn’t been disclosed to us. This made for an uncomfortable ending to what had been a great day.
My Resort Yala was clean. The pool, the grounds, the room were kept well. There was a mosquito net over the bed, a large water bottle dispenser, a kettle, a bar fridge and a safe in the room. Our room had a lovely balcony overlooking rice fields. It is a great base for Safari Tours, that Janaka arranges daily with you.

GermanyWe spent amazing 4 days at yala resort. The whole complex/ building is beautiful and is very nice furnitured with everything you need at a beautiful quiet location with an amazing view at the lake. We booked a safari via the owner of the building (Janaka Jeep Safari) and he was the best safari guide with great pick up service and knowledge about the animals at yala park, far off the other safari jeeps. Next day he organized a private safari for us at Udawalwe park. It’s a family business with a very kind and welcoming family who give great tips and recommendations in the area of tisahmarrana, borrow bikes for a trip in the city and cook plenty and very tasty dinner and breakfast! All in all we had amazing 3 days and would definitely recommend!!

The team were fantastic lovely people who couldn't do enough for you. The owner owns a few jeep safaris and has a fantastic driver "Su" who went the extra mile to get all the shots of the animals. The room was spacious and very clean cannot recommended this place enough if your traveling just for a yala safari.

This definitely was the best stay so far during my time in Sri Lanka. The people are really friendly and take really good care of you. Food is great and the rooms spacious, very clean and have great facilities like warm water and a good shower. The environment is also really peacefull and this is a great place to do a safari at Yala (can book this at the hotel - can recommend the full day safari!).
