Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsThe road to get there is a bit of an adventure, you can really only get there by tuk tuk ( which the hosts kindly organize whenever you want) or by foot. It’s about a 30 minute walk to town. But the pool club and adventure center are just down the road, which was perfect with 2 teenagers. If you walk into town ( down hill), take a tuktuk back to the Pool club and walk the last 10 minutes from there.
Beautiful place with the most amazing views! Very kind and helpful hosts, comfortable rooms, good food.

PolandIts in the mountains so no restaurants or shops nearby but for me that was a plus.
Ride to the hotel is insane, especially at night. U need to book a tuk tuk with the owner. The rooms are old and basic but clean. No AC or fridge. But its all worth it for the views! It was one of the best Ive ever seen and was breathtaking during breakfast which was nice too. For 1-2 nights highly recommend.

United KingdomNot really something that should be changed, but communicated more clearly. The cottage is remote and the road is difficult even for tuk tuks to use. If packing light it’s OK, as there’s an 5-10 min walking path from a know tuk tuk parking (by foot of zip line and pool club) that goes to the cottagethrough the tea field, but we had no idea so had all our luggage for the couple of weeks we were traveling as a family.
Gorgeous cottage with beautiful views. Very clean and well maintained. Friendly staff (even if very little English). Just a short walk to the zip line and top of little Adam’s Peak. Would definitely recommend and stay here again. Very unique experience.

United KingdomIt is remote with a 5 min walk across a rough track with no lighting in the dark. There are leeches in this region and there wasn’t a time they weren’t on our feet after the walk!
The view was amazing and the rooms very comfortable. Our hosts were great, discreet but always on hand to help in anyway

United KingdomThe views were absolutely amazing, nice and peaceful location. The owners were brilliant and the breakfast really good. A little hard to find as off the beaten track but a nice walk through the tea fields. Hotel is 20mins hike to the top of Adams peak, and right next to the Ravana pool club and zip line.

KazakhstanBe warned that this place is quite a way out of town, down trails through the surrounding tea plantations (walk or tuktuk). This isn’t so much of a negative, it’s the reason that the property is so serene.
This place is a little way out of the centre, but you’ll be rewarded by peace and quiet like nowhere else in Ella. The view from the room/terrace is breathtaking, and you’re only a short walk up to the little Adam’s peak. The breakfast was delicious.

Fantastic, gem of a place. The peace and solitude is fantastic. the views incredible. Only accessible by Tuk-Tuk and even then only when dry! We had to walk back carrying our cases but the owners helped us. Lovely people. Breakfast and evening meal were delicious. This accommodation had everything we wanted and exceeded our expectations. Czech RepublicGreat location! Ella is bit too touristy so this is a fine escape. BUT! Its secluded so best of you have a tuktuk and you leave it parked close to a big hotel nearby and you walk last 5 minutes. Great breakfast! Nice people who also did our laundry for a good price.

GermanyVery beautiful, breathtaking views, lots of peace and relaxation. The cottage is just outside Ella, away from the hustle and bustle, but that's exactly what we were looking for. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast and especially the dinner are very tasty. The dinner at the cottage was one of the best meals we had in Sri Lanka. You can even watch monkeys in the trees. Although our train was very late and we arrived in the middle of the night, our host picked us up by tuktuk. This is the best place to stay in Ella!

PolandIf you want to visit town you need to go by foot short path trough tea plantation and then along Little's Adam trail or take a tuk tuk from the parking nearby.
View from the terrace was amazing, great location far away from crowded and noisy town. 15min to Little's Adam peak. Great, helpful staff and delicous breakfast on the terrace with stunning view. Only tuk tuk can reach the place trough very bumpy road. The way is the adventure itself.

TaiwanEasily the best thing about being in Ella. The room was good, location was beautiful and the family were very nice. Some noise from the road/bar in the area but honestly, it's gotta be the quietest place in all of Ella. For the price, it was excellent. If I'm being picky, the room feels a bit damp because there's no ac so the walls are more weathered. Considering how reasonable the rate is, this is to be expected.
