How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Quiet place not too far from bus stop, shops, restaurants and beach. Owners have been very kind. The room (fan) was decent size and clean. Good wifi.

Nice, it’s like a little apartment on top of the family house. You have a little kitchen ( only with a kettle) and you own balcony in you room Comfy mattress

It would be nice to have filtered/drinking water to avoid the plastic. I would have liked a bedside lamp and a power outlet by the bed. But these are tiny details in an overall excellent stay!
Clean place, big bed with mosquito net and fan! Very nice owners! Shower with nice water pressure. Located on a quiet side street but not too far from the main road, grocery store, beach. Very good price!

Before your stay you should be aware that the rooms do not have air conditioning, only a fan. It was really hot, so I don't know if I would stay in accommodation without air conditioning again on the south coast during the dry season. The bathroom is shared between two rooms, but this was not a problem.
Very nice hosts (an older couple who don't speak much English but were always easy to communicate with and very helpful). The location is great - you can be on the beach in 10 minutes, numerous restaurants are just a few minutes away.

Loved the location; in the local community. Every morning i went walking was greeted by the locals. Only a short walk down the road onto the main road. Near bus stop to catch local bus to Galle/ Matara. Beach about 14 min walk, but it's a very easy and nice walk ,; again meeting many locals on route.Great communication throughout my stay and lovely owners.Room was clean and bed very comfy. Only two rooms share the one bathroom, which ilooks like it has been refurbished. There is a kettle available in a small communal area. Would definitely recommend and stay again if I am in the area. Thank you for a great stay.

Towels need to be change for new ones, looks quite old. Kitchen area could be cleaner.
Bathroom is super clean and spacious, right next to the room. Nice staff and awesome location.

For this price nothing to complain
Nice quiet place, not far to the main beach, Restaurants and supermarket. Very nice, friendly and kindful local coupel. Clean toilette and shower.

Nothing. It's perfect!
A quiet and comfortable place in a lovely family's home. Everything was clean and just as I expected. The beach is in a walkable distance and there are a lots of cafes and restaurants nearby.

Thank you to the hosts who were very helpful with everything. Super kind and friendly. Perfect location, small street off the main road and a 5 minute walk to the beach (350meter). Room was very clean and worked seamlessly. 10/10 would recommend! “Thank you so much for having us, and allowing us to stay for another 4 nights. We will definitely come and visit again when we return to Mirissa!”

It was extremely hot. there is only the fan working and it wasnt that hot inside but becuase all the windows had to be shut down so no insects can enter so I felt like I was suffocating inside the room. I offered to pay extra for the ac which was there but the host said it wasnt working. there was a space to do your coffee which i didnt touch because it was out in the open all type of insects passed on the items and there was no place to sit if you wanted to have your coffee. The toilet had pee on it when I came. I dont think the room and the bathroom gets cleaned often. but there was no bed bugs.
The location is very good. and the room was very big

I was there with some serious injury. But host didnt understand this. I barely could move after contact with big wave in the ocean. I lied down for 2 days in bed and said many times i cant move without pain. I said to him i need to stay longer 5 maybe 6 days. The just didnt want to take care about me. i asked only for bringing me food. One time they bring me food. Papaya and curd but no amont i wanted next day checked out me in this difficullt condition.
