How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

We liked it very much. A very good and comfortable accommodation. The room was well equipped and very clean. The beach and several good restaurants were in the immediate surroundings. All wishes were implemented immediately. We can highly recommend Luaya Beach.

Nice and large rooms, bed with mosquito net. Towels, air conditioning & fan available. Super nice staff. The breakfast is super delicious! Our wishes were taken into account (vegetarian) Great location, close to the beach.

Very nice hotel in a lovely setting with a terrace. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. The Sri Lankan breakfast was absolutely delicious and very generous. You can also rent a scooter directly from the hotel, which is super convenient. Great location next to the beach. Highly recommended!

This was our favorite stay in the whole of Sri Lanka. Situated 2 minutes from the beach, a few minutes from lots of restaurants and the centre of town - yet it still feels tranquil. The room was spotless and extremely comfortable, with seating outside. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

It just could be handy to have something to clean your shoes/feet before entering the room. As now you come from the beach, and take in all the sand. Your shoes you can easily leave outside, but maybe something to clean your feet.
When we entered the room it all smelled so fresh and clean! We really appreciated that. The staff was super friendly, and took care of everything we asked for. We wanted to rent a scooter, the next morning they has arranged it. We also got a free upgrade of our room, so we could sit in the backyard.

Everything was perfect
The rooms were very clean, they had ac and a fan and there was even a fridge in the room which was super convenient. They offer a huge and delicious breakfast which we ordered and it was completely worth it. The area was very quiet and peaceful and there is a beach for swimming just a few minutes away on foot. The owner was very friendly and helpful, he gave us some advice on which bus to take continuing our journey and on good places to eat. It was a really nice stay, I highly recommend it.

Luaya Beach is the best place we've stayed in Sri Lanka so far. Just 2 minutes walk from Tangalle Beach (really peaceful and quiet). The bed is really comfy and the bedroom/bathroom are both super clean. The garden is a lovely extra, such a nice place to eat breakfast. We recommend the Sri Lankan breakfast - all the things you would want. Owner was super friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We hope to come back.

Great value for money. Quiet yet central location within a few steps of the beach and eateries. The cleanest place we stayed in with a month in SL - well appointed room, comfy large bed, lovely staff. Just as neat as in the published photos. Fantastic breakfast served on the patio, well worth the extra charge. They even supply insect repellent (although very dry currently, haven't seen any mozzies) The manager speaks english and really cares about his guests. Highly recommended, wished we could stay longer

We received a coconut as a welcome. The room was very clean, nice and large. The bed was super comfortable. The host took great care of us and was extremely helpful in every way. He also organized a great massage for us. He also arranged a tuk-tuk to Galle – at the best price. Really recommended. The beach is not far away and you can quickly find places for breakfast or dinner. The price-performance ratio was unbeatable for us and it was our favorite accommodation on our trip. We even extended one night.

Modern, clean property. Very close to beaches and amenities. Host and all staff were fabulous and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was enormous and extremely yummy. Wi-Fi excellent. Thoroughly recommend you stay here.

Amazing location close to the beach, quiet and clean. The place is beautiful, room has everything you need and Lahiru is a lovely host making sure you have everything you need. He was so kind to arrange for us transfers and a safari trip. Everything exceeded expectations, we felt spoiled.

From the moment we arrived, we knew we were somewhere special. We were the first guests after the season’s reopening, and our host welcomed us with such warmth, humor, and passion for his work that we immediately felt at home. Not only was he kind, but also genuinely interesting – sharing fascinating stories about Sri Lanka and his own life that made our stay even richer. Every detail was perfect – from the spotless, Western-standard cleanliness to the beautifully kept garden. The team quietly lit mosquito coils, placed repellent, and tidied up without ever disturbing us. When Lorenzo caught the flu, our host even brought a thermometer and an Ayurvedic remedy – that’s true care! The air conditioning and fans kept us comfortable, the peaceful garden with its cozy beanbags was pure bliss, and the wildlife view from the villa felt straight out of a nature documentary. Without a doubt, the best place we stayed in Sri Lanka – a true labor of love.

The owner is very helpful. He cares about guests like a private concierge. He organizes transport, advises, and recommends various places worth visiting. Breakfast in two options (sri lankan and british). The room and bathroom were really clean.
