Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

PolandEverything was amazing.
We loved everything about this place! Beautifully located, amazing pool, fantastic beach, mesmerising wildlife walking around the garden (we saw monkeys, lots of birds including owls and peacocks and lizards) and great, freshly prepared food. Some of the best fish we had in Sri Lanka! Great cocktails and ice tea. Fabulous desserts, too. The hotel was happy to organise great excursions for us (we went to Galle, Mulgirigala temple and also to Rekawa Beach at night where we saw turtles). The room was cleaned daily, fresh filtered water was provided. Everything was perfect.

Wow! We stayed in nine hotels over 14 days and this hotel was by far the best. It is beautifully designed, as you would expect from a Geoffrey Bawa house, peaceful and totally relaxing. Our room had its own private garden. The hotel is located directly onto the most gorgeous beach, and there were monkeys and peacocks in the garden. We stayed two nights but really wished we had stayed longer. The breakfast and evening meals were excellent and staff were lovely. I particularly liked the banana bread served at breakfast. It would be really hard to find a nicer hotel than this!

AustraliaMaybe the amount of mosquitoes, but it’s of course not the hotel’s fault.
The Last House is a beautiful property. You relax and feel calm as soon as you arrive. Sometimes it can always feel to clam, as there are only 5 rooms and you might be the only ones having dinner at the hotel on any given night. We loved our room and especially the outside shower. Service is impeccable and they help you arrange tuk tuks as the property is a bit out of the way.

AustraliaThe service was very reactive and not proactive - if you wanted anything you had to hunt for the staff in the kitchen. We never got offered anything the whole time we were there. They were nice but could be more “available”
Such a beautiful property, particularly if you are a Geoffrey Bawa fan. Breakfast was delicious.

SwitzerlandI loved this place, it was probably the best place we stayed at during our 1 month trip around Sri Lanka. Mawella beach is stunning and quiet. Good food, lovely helpful staff. The rooms are huge and very comfortable. A bit expensive (but it is a Bawa house) and the location is far from everything, cars and tuk tuks don’t come that easily. The beach has big waves so not the best place for small children.

SwitzerlandA place where time slows, nature and architecture blend seamlessly, and every moment feels effortless. Nestled on the best beach in the Tangalle area, it invites long walks on soft sand and perfect swims in warm, gentle waves. The rooms are stunning, filled with light and a quiet elegance that makes you feel at home yet somewhere extraordinary. The staff here are simply wonderful - warm, attentive, and always making sure your stay is unforgettable. And the breakfast? Absolutely incredible. Try the buffalo curd and the spicy Sri Lankan Omelett. We’re usually not the kind of travelers who spend much time in hotels during the day or have all our meals on-site, but The Last House is different. You don’t want to leave. Lunch and dinner here are as special as the place itself, making it easy to just stay and soak in the atmosphere. Step onto the beach, and if you're lucky, you might meet local fishermen who invite you to a sand game (spoiler: you will lose). A huge thank you to our fantastic driver, Taraka, who was arranged by the hotel and became our trusted companion for the entire trip. Always on time, incredibly skilled, and just a wonderful person - we highly recommend his service. The Last House is not just a hotel - it’s a meditation, a rare find, a place you never want to leave.

SpainAbsolutely nothing
I almost don't want to share my review of The Last House because I want it to be my own little secret paradise! But of course, its fair to share. This is one of the most incredible hotels I've ever stayed in, and I've stayed in some pretty cool places. Of course the Geoffrey Bawa factor is cool, but the fact that the house manages to strike that perfect balance between luxury, yet so accessibly and comfortable. Nothing felt contrived or overdone, the house fit the surroundings perfectly, yet you felt like you were living in luxury. The incredibly beautiful and completely deserted beach is steps, STEPS, from the hotel. Every day we were there it was less than 5 people on the whole beach. Some of the best meals we had on our whole trip was at the Last House, the breakfast especially is incredible. And the service was impeccable. Nothing was too much, and they were super flexible with us on check in and check out time. Despite the fact that this place is a 12 hour flight from my home, I have no doubt in my mind that I will be back to this hotel. 11/10!

United KingdomI loved it all - I am struggling to find anything I didn’t like - the only thing not quite perfect for me was the pool - - I love swimming but some days the sea was too rough for me to swim -and the pool a bit too short for swimming lengths - this won’t bother most people and wouldn’t stop me coming back again !
Lovely design - laid back relaxed vibe - no fuss - great location -staff very helpful - we really liked it - and want to come back

United KingdomThis was the best place we stayed in Sri Lanka - beautiful property, quiet, stunning beech right off the garden, lovely pool, nature, great food and attentive staff. A little pricey - but worth it. Only 4 bedrooms so even when fully booked it would feel peaceful and relaxing. If we ever return to Sri Lanka we will be coming back!

United KingdomThe wifi was as temperamental as the weather, unfortunately, not being helped by a power cut in the middle of the night that went on for several hours knocking out fan and aircon... The beauty and formidable design of our non-ocean facing room was somewhat impaired by rather tired looking blackout roller blinds - an easy but we thought worthwhile fix...
A charming and delightful colonial-style designer property with many original building elements in an idyllic and isolated beach location - romantic in nature. Delicious although pricey food - both breakfast and dinner were outstanding...
