The breakfast was probably the best I've had travelling around and living here in Sri Lanka. Lara is an amazing host, very helpful and informative. Made us feel right at home. I really reccomend this place if you are in Unawatuna. I am certainly planing on going back.

We stayed at this charming place for 4 nights. It was our final stop on our journey through Sri Lanka. Lara’s Place is truly something special, as you are welcomed by the kindest people who will do everything they can to give you an unforgettable experience. Every morning, you’re treated to the most delicious breakfast, made from local ingredients and prepared with heart. The breakfast is different each day. On top of that, you get the best view, as the place is located on a hillside. It’s such a cozy experience to take a tuk-tuk down to the beach and the town, but it’s also an easy walk. Our highest recommendations — and we’ll definitely be back! ❤️

Only negative is it is up a large hill. Fine for us as we used local Tuk tuks, but you will pay slightly more as they don’t like to go up there.

Penthouse sweet is stunning. Very large rooms. Staff respect privacy whilst also always available if you require assistance. Just wish we had stayed longer.

Nothing, just be aware you are a little walk into Unawatuna. But this came with a pro of it being very peaceful and quiet with great views

Unfortunately, the guests in the other room occupied the dryer for themselves, so we couldn't use it.

We spent the first night in the Deluxe Room, and for the second night we had to move to a Standard Room, as it was the only one available when we booked. Interestingly, in terms of space, we found the Standard Room to be more spacious. However, in terms of privacy, we had to share the terrace with the room next to us. Still, the stay was perfect overall!

Just that not all tuktuks were happy to take us up to the hill but we knew about the location (that makes the view so beautiful) before.

The place is just amazing, as well as the host. He answered all our WhatsApp messages very fast and nothing was problem for him. In person, he's a really awesome and relaxed guy that makes your stay memorable. The Deluxe Room has an amazing view and very good privacy. I wish we stayed longer there. The breakfast is everyday different and it is really soooo awesome – protein stuff, savor things, sweets, fresh fruit, as well as fresh juice and a coffee or tea. It is served on a terrace with an amazing view and trust me, the breakfast makes you feel full for the rest of the day (until dinner).

The AC in our room spilled water and made weird noises when the fan mode was selected. This was a minor inconvenience and didn't affect our stay too much.

The view from our private balcony and the shower was spectacular. Breakfast was really good and fulfilling. Friendly and helpful staff.

We had a lizzard in the room in the first evening, totally inoffensive, but still unpleasant. Also, there is no mosquito net at any of the windows, therefore you can't keep the balcony door open, as the mosquitos would come in. We had to sleep with the AC on, which made my cold simptoms worse.. Also, rooms were quite small, with only one chair, which made packing and unpacking quite challenging.

The location is amazing, the view over the ocean in the morning is like a dream. Also, the breakfast was something special every day, cooked on the spot by the host. There is hot water and the water pressure is perfect. Also, the hosts are veeery nice - Lara has even made me an ayurvedic tea for my cold, totally recommend!

Nothing it was all excellent

We stayed in the Penthouse at Lara's Place and absolutely loved it. We loved the terrace and waking up to those amazing views, the outdoor seating area to have a sundowner. The bed was super comfy the bathroom and kitchen both very nice. Lara and the team are super helpful, and the breakfast is amazing, we didn't need to eat until the evening after all the yummy dishes they offered. The location is great, away from the noise of the busy coast road below, and easy to walk or get Tuk Tuks. Highly recommend

Lara’s place is so peaceful, has incredible views of the sea, and is close to the town and its restaurants. The family that runs this place were very attentive and shared some great recommendations. The road to the property was rough and challenging for some tuk tuk drivers.

An absolutely stunning room with breathtaking views, exceptional staff, and the most incredible breakfast imaginable. Unlimited filtered water and warm hospitality made the experience even more special. A huge thank you to the talented chef for such delicious meals. Do note that the steep hill leading to the property may be challenging for those with mobility issues, but this can be easily overcome with a tuk-tuk ride.
