Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaWe had the best time with Nimeshika, and her family ! They took the time to help us find the best places to eat, see and do ! We really felt like we were a part of the family and it was amazing ! The rooms were great and all that goes with it !The hostel is in the center of Sigiraya, you can walk really easily to see the lion rock and Tuktuk are always nearby. The buses are also a great way to go around ! It was the best choice for our 7 days in Sigiraya. Thanks for that amazing experience!

This hostel is run by a very lovely and young couple. They make you feel at home, very caring. Bug and spacious toilet and bathroom. Has hot water. Has toilet paper, towel provided upon asking. Had AC & fan. They’ve a restaurant at the front of the hostel so no restaurant hunting. They’ve cooking classes. 45mins walk to the Pidurangala Rock. The owner can drop and pick you to the Pidurangala Rock if need be.

IndiaI'm absolutely smitten with this hostel! It's run by an adorable family who makes you feel right at home. The stay is super comfortable and cozy, with spotless washrooms and large beds that are perfect for a good night's sleep. I stayed for a week and loved every minute of it! What really sets this place apart is the warm hospitality. If you're traveling solo, you won't feel alone - the whole family showers you with love and care, making you feel like part of the family. And if you're looking to learn some authentic Sri Lankan cooking, Nimeshikha's classes are a must! She's an amazing teacher, whipping up delicious dishes with love, patience, and a smile. Plus, she's super kind and generous - she even offered food to those in need! I also loved that I could practice yoga comfortably on the premises - there's plenty of space to sit, relax, and even unwind in a hammock. If you're looking for a place that feels like home, look no further. The family is super helpful, and you'll leave feeling like you've made some wonderful friends. I'm already missing them and can't wait to go back!

Sri LankaNimeshikha is a wonderful, kind host. Staying in this hostel feels like a genuine cultural experience as you feel part of the family and the two little children are always running around and wanting to interact with you. Nimeshikha serves a delicious breakfast every day and she has her restaurant on site if you wish to eat lunch or dinner! My top tip: don't book any tours on Getyourguide as Nimeshikha's husband can arrange everything at a cheaper price! I arrived in Sigiriya with no plan, but the two hosts were able to advise me and help me organise everything. I extended my stay by two more nights and had three beautiful days exploring Sigiriya and nearby sites. A big thank you to Nimeshikha and Nuwan!

AustriaNothing negatively about this
From the moment we arrived, we felt completely at home. This charming hostel is run by the kindest couple you can imagine. The mother prepares delicious meals in her cozy restaurant, and the father took us on one of the most beautiful tours we’ve ever done – full of stunning views and authentic local experiences. Everything here is filled with heart and soul. Their warmth and genuine hospitality turned our stay into something truly special. It’s rare to find such a welcoming, family-like atmosphere. If you’re looking for a place with personality, comfort, and unforgettable people – this is it. Highly recommended from the bottom of my heart!

BelgiumWhen I arrived I was welcomed by the family (with 2 kids) with some nice tea. Afterwards the husband propsed to do a free scooter tour and we’ve passed some beautiful sights, including the secret lake where you had a view on both the Pidugala rock and the Lion rock. They also were helpful for tuktuk drives (paid) at any arranged hour. In the room I was the only one so I could choose a bed. The bed was comfortable and had a musquito net. There was also 1 fan in the room and the bathroom was specious en clean. In the morning I also got served some delicous breakfast. Would really recommend this place because of the location, value for money, delicious food and the hospitality of the family.

GermanyBest Hostel in Sigiriya! I had the best stay at this hostel, the owners were so friendly and kind, it felt like being part of the family. Also the host helped with an incident and took me to the tourist police which was very kind. Also the two kids of them are so cute, especially little Mihel. I will never forget this place and keep this time in my memory forever. 10000000% recommendation 🥰

I had a great stay here. The room and bathroom were clean, there was a hot shower and a small terrace to sit on in the evenings. The family is lovely and help with all questions. They also offer a great cooking class which shows traditional cooking. I would come back again!

New ZealandAbsolutely adore this hostel and the hosts. They were the sweetest couple, who were always around to help you, give tips and also make you delicious food. I did a cooking class with them for 3000, which was incredible and so much cheaper than any other places and gave you a more authentic experience. I 100% recommend doing this is you are staying. They have a small restaurant where you can chill at and also a hammock. There was only one room, a four female dorm. It did get a little hot at times as there was only one fan for the room to share. It was clean and had a large bathroom. The location is perfect, just off the main street with some restaurants and mini stores around, but also a short walk to even more restaurants and it is fine walking to lion rock and pidurangala rock. If I came back I would definitely come back to stay and will recommend to all my friends that I know will be coming this way. Thank you for 💚

GermanyThe door of the bathroom is broken, so you can't close it and also the fan didn't really work. But it was still cold enough as we left the windows open during the night.
I really liked this cute little hostel. Very chilled vibes and friendly hosts. The location is amazing as it's close to the rocks and another lake. The beds were quite big and a mosquito net was there as well.

A very kind and helpful family. When an elephant entered their garden at night, the host took a great care of our safety, but let us have a glimpse of it. The family was chatty with a good energy, ready to answer any questions about the stay.
