How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The breakfast was very disappointing. The options were extremely limited and did not meet the expectations for a hotel. In addition, the area did not appear hygienic, with flies around the food. This created an unpleasant and concerning experience. The hotel should urgently improve both the quality and hygiene standards of the breakfast service.

Verified reviewThe room was cozy and the staff were also really nice . The place located at nice and quite place near lake and gives great views along with a terrace and a dual storied room which can easily accomodate 4 people. The staff were also nice.
They dont have their own kitchen so food order must be made to them which came from another restaurant. There were some flies in the room and the upper cabin lacked lighting. Also the toilets can do with an exhaust.

Verified reviewThe worst hotel in Sri Lanka!! Not worth the money. The breakfast is poor and there is a lot of flies in the air. The staff is polite but not very nice and the view is terrible.
If you’re looking for a five star hotel- go as far as you can from this hotel..
We already expect this review from this guest. Because her intention was to cancel this reservation on the day of check-in, but we did not allow her to do that. It is a three nights booking, she does not request anything before arrival and also the driver of the particular guest called us a week ago and asked about a driver accommodation but we said here we do not have driver quarters but can arrange a place nearby. but it has to be paid for. Then he said he would tell the guest to cancel this booking because the unavailability of the driver accommodation. She liked the room and the view when we showed it to her, and after seeing it, she decided to stay for three nights, and only after that we did the check in. And once they check in to the room they asked everything for free of charge like the transportation from the hotel to city tour , laundry service and etc. And also we provide everything according their request like extra towels, bed sheets, duvets, hair dryer, plates and etc. And she commented like the breakfast is poor, we gave the standard breakfast to them, once they ate everything and bought the balance cakes also to the room also. They does not left anything on the table. Further she left a message in booking.com which was (Yes. I want to get a full refund for 2 nights. Both sides will gain from the refund, to avoid bad review on booking.com ) she left this review on a vengeful purpose. Everyone can understand how beautiful the hotel view is from the reviews of previous guests. but she telling the view is terrible. Of course her intention is to tarnish our reputation, and we can never accept this criticism.

Insects everywhere , if you have issue with insects theirs won’t be ur place for sure , Owner need to pay more attention on renewing curtains because not matching it will look way more better and do pets control always I arrived so 3 spiders which gave me horrible sleep cuz I could sleep always waking yo to make sure nothing is on me along with mosquitoes but I think this was managed with vapore thing .. The breakfast was fine but while enjoying the view yhere was dead insects around so again if it wasn’t about this then our stay would have been more enjoyable in this pretty area

Verified reviewAccommodation is of a high standard and was quite luxurious. My sister and I had our own beds and areas on a split level, which made it so good. Everyone was so helpful and accommodating, we enjoyed a delicious dinner and breakfast there too. Sitting on the outside balcony enjoying a beer, they organised for us and watching the sun go down over the lake, was so good. We loved our stay there so much.

The beds are comfortable and we slept well. It's a quiet area if you want some peace. Our greatest thanks to Mahesh, Rashvani, and the hotel staff.
The cold! Not the hotel's fault, but please come prepared. It's wet, windy and cold. The hotel is above the town center, so the temperatures are way colder and way more windy. The food is not the greatest. Only one style of breakfast. For dinner, we ordered chicken tikka masala ehich turned out to be very watery, and the paratha is hard. The management was kind enough to return it when we did not like it.
