How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Outside buffet was disturbed by the crows and utencils look a bit dirty otherwise everything else was perfect, rooms and washrooms are nice and clean.
Staff was really friendly and very helpful with a smile in their face all the time. Location was calm and quiet.

The room had a few flies and there were some ants in the bathroom - enough to be noticeable, but not enough to put us off.
The staff were very helpful and friendly, allowing us into our room early. The room we chose was also a good size. The location was a short walk to a lovely beach. The Sri Lankan breakfast was great with good portion sizes.

There is a lot of ants in the property We had a lot of ants in our shower so we had to move to another room In the next room we had lizard in the sink
The stuff was great they always cared about our needs and even gave us a welcome fruits and cocktail The pool is great and clean and the breakfast was tasty

Staff was very friendly and told a lot of information about Sri Lanka Pool was very clean and chill Rooms were nice and clean as well Food was good as well :) Perfect place to relax if you have a busy roadtrip.

The sun loungers around the pool have seen better days. Also only a few sun loungers available. But that didn't spoil our visit.
A lovely hotel within 5 minutes of the beach. Rooms set around the pool. Staff were great and very helpful. The food especially the evening meals were lovely and very good value. Very friendly place and staff helped us to book a trip to Pigeon Island (which we would recommend). A good location within an easy walk to beach / restaurants / bars. The location is perfect if you want to relax near the beach but want a quiet location.

Could do with the rooms being updated a bit.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely swimming pool and great breakfast. Very comfy bed. Very close to the beach and restaurants.

Rooms are nice and clean on arrival but here and there some final details can be improved.
Nice facilities close to the beach. Fantastic very clean swimming pool. Breakfast OK. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. We had a nice stay.

The pool could have had the leaves and insects scooped out a bit more frequently, but it didn’t stop us enjoying the pool.
Property clean and in good location. The staff were exceptional, so friendly.

We would have preferred a more traditional Sri Lankan breakfast.
Staff, especially Nishal, were excellent and went above and beyond to be helpful. Hotel had links with local watersports company, which were excellent and great value for money. City tour was also excellent and well worth doing.

Good be cleaner, or maybe it is just poor construction work. Hotel is 2-3 years Old and should be better maintained.
Nice an cozy hotel with a nice pool. Staff were very helpful and nice. Location is great for the beach and lots of good restaurants with great seafood in the neighborhood. Good breakfast, they really go the extra mile to fulfill your needs. Easy access with tuk tuk to trincomalee center.

The water pressure is not strong, we had some problems with the water (but was fixed) and water temperature. Also there are some problems with the plumbing because in the morning there was a bad smell coming from the toilet/shower
The pool is amazing and the stuff is very helpful and friendly

I really enjoyed my stay at J7. The hotel is perfectly located next to the beach and nice local restaurants. The whole staff was incredibly warm and welcoming and helped me with anything I needed. I definitely would stay again here!

Only thin sheet to sleep with so ended up quite cold in the mornings with air con on.
Great location, walking distance to beach and restaurants. Staff incredibly friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was delicious.

The rooms were quite noisy, which was a bit of a letdown. When I raised my concerns, they were more or less brushed off by the manager. Another issue was the inconsistent hot water supply in the shower.
We really enjoyed my stay at this lovely hotel. The size is just right, not too overwhelming with a manageable number of rooms. The pool and rooms were impeccably clean, and the staff was incredibly friendly. Additionally, the beach is just a 5-minute walk away, making it super convenient for daily outings.
