If you want a completely quiet place, this might not be it currently. They have a younger child that, as seemingly every young child does, speaks at full volume. There is also construction going on next door (outside of the family's control). I was able to sleep just fine, but I am just pointing it out for others. If you're planning on being out and exploring the region during the day, it is a non-issue.

This place legitimately looks like the photos! Everything is brand new and looks immaculate. Everything was incredibly clean. I saw no bugs (other than a couple mosquitos that snuck in), no vermin, no smells, nothing. The wifi worked perfectly and without any issues so I could get work done. The location is fantastic. It is up a high hill (as are most accommodations in the area, it is a very hilly region), but once you are at the bottom of the hill, the main street of Ella is right there. The value is unbeatable. I'm an aloof person, and the family was friendly and smiled, but just let me be. I'm an introverted solo traveler and was hesitant about a homestay, but this worked out nicely.

The property is on quite a steep hill, this was fine except when first checking in with our bags. Taxis / tuktuks will not go up there so just to be warned!

Big hill to walk up but not too bad!

Family was very nice, really beautiful homestay right in the centre but hidden away! Nice big room with a big bathroom that has hot water! Also room was surprisingly cool!

The location of Holly House Homestay is great - it is very central, located just off Ella's main road, but in a quiet residential area. The room was very comfortable with access to a terrace that overlooks the surrounding area and a good bathroom. We would really recommend this homestay as a great, affordable place to explore Ella!

I like our stay in Ella! Holly House is located on a hill so it requires a fair bit of a hike, but that also means it's far from the busy highway and that spells quiet! Host family were kind. Room was clean and spacious, and given the climate, it was cooling. I slept really well. Hot showers were welcoming.

The room is large and clean. Just a short walk from the Ella strip. Ideal for short stay for budget travellers. Short tuk tuk rides to 9 arch bridge and Ravana Waterfalls is another plus. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to stay closer to the Ella town.

lots of construction around the hotel. the hill is very steep and the stairs to the main street have high steps, quite a climb when you go back to your hotel. A light on the balcony would have been nice for when you want to go outside in the evening. The room is not cleaned during the stay, so I made my own bed (I have to do that at home, no problem 🤣) 1 towel was a bit minimal for me when showering & washing my hair.

nice big room with all amenities, even a fridge a plate and some cutlery. A sitting area, coffee and tea options and a terrace. Nice bed with a duvet which was not superfluous.

- there is a building side right in front of the property. Not a renovation, but a building side, so there is a lot of noise from 8am till 6pm and will probably be for a while - after taking a shower suddenly an army of ants appeared and of course didn’t leave. That was quite strange as we stayed in different places in Ella and something like this never happened - quite a long and steep uphill to reach the place with backpacks

- we haven’t met Holly but she gave us all the info over the phone (we asked for busses) that was very helpful - room was nice and clean, pillows comfortable which is always a plus - mosquito net available (could be a bit longer, as it doesn’t fully cover but we managed to adjust) - internet wasn’t amazing but better than most places in Ella - kettle available in the room, coffee and tea as well
