Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Arab EmiratesWe stayed 1 night at Harrington Heritage but we wished we could have stayed more. This small hotel is located in the middle of tea plantations and the view from the balcony of the Family room was stunning. It is such a peaceful environment, perfect to get away from the crowd and relax. The family room was confortable, the shower had hot water. The room decoration is a bit outdated but it was very clean and the view was perfect. The staff is absolutely wonderful, communication by what's app before our arrival was always very smooth and they were welcoming and kind once we were there.. They organized car transfers for us and an E-bike tour of tea plantations while we were there. We had a delicious dinner and breakfast there. It was all perfect. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

AustraliaThe hotel, set amongst the tea plantations was both interesting and relaxing with great views of the distant mountains. It is a little off the beaten track yet well worth a visit and we enjoyed spotting the bird life around the property. The staff were all very friendly and obliging and we all felt rested after our stay. The meals served in the restaurant were authentic Sri Lankan cuisine and good value for money.

United KingdomThe room was small and quite basic. You’re paying for the view.
There were two highlights of our stay here- the staff and the view. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay special as part of our honeymoon. They were helpful with all enquiries and make a delicious (although huge) breakfast. We stayed in one of the rooms which is essentially a container on stilts and the room was compact but the view of the tea plantations and Adam’s peak was stunning.

NorwayAccess Road is little steep and eroded at places but our vehicle managed it comfortably. Hotel has installed solar street lights on the common access road as a CSR which allows safe stroll in the evening. Kudos to them.
Great view - hotel nestled in a tea estate at an elevation providing panoramic view of misty hills – including Adam’s Peak. Staff very attentive and customer oriented. We tried their local ( breakfast) and western dishes ( dinner), which were both tasty and adequately portioned. Rooms and Linen – freshly washed and clean and a quick peek inside kitchen revealed surprisingly clean environment! Something rare in this part of world.

NorwayWe would have liked to stay another night but our schedule is packed.
Humble staff ready to help all the time. Tried local menu . spicy but tasty. Picturesque view. Great hiking potential. Famous Pekoe trail is closeby, I am told. Quiet cosy place. We thought place is near Nuwara eliya but surprisingly it provides the similar climes without the hustle and bustle. Railway station is 5 mins by trishaw.

IndiaLocation - getting to this hotel is very difficult. It's a steep incline and many vehicle struggle to get up there and approach road is very bad. Have a hired vehicle ready before you get here otherwise there is nothing available near hotel for transport. This is 40 km from Nuwara elliya and one way cost is 6000 Lkr to get to town.

United KingdomLovely, relaxing one night stay. The views are incredible. Our host was very welcoming, kind and attentive. We had a very comfortable stay and had space to relax. Great nights sleep in one of the in house rooms which had a balcony from which we watched the misty morning light over the tea plantations. Enjoyed walking around the tea plantations straight from the room and watching local children play cricket. We had dinner and breakfast which were both very good. Highly recommended for a short, relaxing stay.

CanadaNothing much to complain. I prefer a bigger swimming pool and a bit more spacious bed room with more curtains as the brightness of the room couldn't control by ourself in the day time.
I love the nature surrounded by our charlet. It was among tea plants and the path to the main building gave a different experience. The staff was super friendly and authentic. Some of them are from the vicinity . The food is excellent and homey.

Sri LankaMy family and I recently had the pleasure of staying at Harrington Heritage, and I must say, it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. First and foremost, the staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive throughout our entire stay. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm smiles and genuine hospitality. The reception staff went above and beyond to accommodate our needs, and their flexibility made our stay stress-free and enjoyable. One of the highlights of our stay was the exceptional level of cleanliness maintained throughout the hotel. Our room was spotless upon arrival, with fresh linens, towels, and a pleasant aroma indicating thorough cleaning. It was evident that the housekeeping staff took great pride in their work, and their attention to detail did not go unnoticed. Moreover, the hotel's dining options exceeded our expectations. The food served was not only delicious but also diverse and of high quality. We particularly enjoyed the breakfast spread, which offered a variety of options to suit all tastes and dietary preferences. The restaurant staff were attentive and accommodating, ensuring that we had everything we needed for a satisfying dining experience. In addition to the excellent service and amenities, the location was convenient and accessible, making it easy for us to explore the surrounding area and attractions. Overall, our stay at Harrington surpassed all expectations, thanks to the exceptional service, cleanliness, and dining experience provided by the staff. We wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a memorable and enjoyable stay.

Wonderful location among tea plantation and lots of birds and nature! We stayed both in the main building and the chalet and they were both charming. The two boys who welcomed us were extremely kind and helpful, making sure we enjoyed our stay as much as possible and even serving us breakfast at 6 am as we had to catch an early train!
