A lovely stay in Hikkaduwa, Sri Lanka😊 Was feeling welcome directly and the owner is the sweetest! He has really good recommendations for places to eat and things to do in the area, close to the beach and mean street. I would recommend this place to everyone. I would definitely come back here :) the first day we went to Thorana. My best mate :)

It’s a bit warm and hot in the house and the rooms, if you don’t like to have fan pointing at you straight.

The villa is located in a very peaceful area, a bit far from the center of the town but everything is at walking distance or reachable by tuktuk, and close to the local markets and to the train station. The house looks kinda new, it’s clean and has a very nice garden where you can see lots of animals, even the unexpected! Beds are comfortable and with light curtains/net for mosquitoes and other insects (but there were not). The room has fans. Guruge and his wife are the sweetest! He explained me everything about the surroundings, told me all the places to visit and me feel at home. Hikkaduwa is a very nice place to visit and the whole town is super safe, even in late evening to get home for solo girls traveling.

Extremly friendly owner. Helps with everything and shows you around his beautiful garden. You basically life with him and his family in the house, which makes it cosy and very personal. You can use his kitchen, the fridge and the washing maschine (costs a little extra). He gives great advice on where to go for food. I felt very at home 🙏 thank you so much

It was very clean and comfortable. When I arrived, I was very hot, and the hostel owner gave me a very cool glass of mango water. The hostel owner was really warm and kind, and the access to the train station and the beach was excellent. I was very satisfied, and I will definitely choose the same hostel next time I come.

Everything was perfect—the price, the services, and the cleanliness. The host and his wife were extremely kind, polite, and welcoming. The house is wonderful, with a beautiful garden that sometimes turns into a mini wildlife sanctuary where you can spot harmless wild animals. There is also a kitchen where you can cook your own meals. Best of all, the house is in a perfect location—close to both the beach and the city.

I had an amazing stay! The owner was incredibly kind—one of the nicest people I’ve met. He even invited me to cook rice and curry with him, which made the experience truly special. The mattress was comfortable, and while the room was small, it was perfect for a hostel, especially considering the great price. Highly recommend staying here for a warm, welcoming atmosphere and good value!

I liked everything! The beds are super comfortable, it's very clean and the location is also good - still close to the center but in a quiet area surrounded by a beautiful garden. And the owner is such a wonderful and kind person! Would highly recommend it!!

Very welcoming owner, cozy place away from the touristy business of the city. A little off the road, but a really nice place to relax, I especially like the entrance to the place which is somewhat of a living plant arch instead of an iron gate.

Even with two fans it was still too hot to get a good sleep. And the mosquitos are annoying.

Very close to the bus and train station, close to a beach. Host is a very lovely and relaxed man who welcomed me with a cold drink when I first arrived and has lots of great local restaurant recommendations. The room was mostly men but everyone staying there was lovely and I felt really comfortable. There is a really nice outside sitting area with a view of the garden.

Incredibly kind host running a small, cozy, beautiful place. It's so peaceful there, you can relax on the patio the whole day, use the kitchen and sleep in super comfortable beds. Shops, restaurants and the beach are very close by, just the perfect place to calm down and enjoy good company! Thank you for everything! ♡

I’m so glad I stayed at Guruge villa! I felt so great as soon as I arrived. I couldn’t expect a better way to be welcome at the villa. It is really clean, the environment is stunning and facilities really nice! I would definitely come back if I’m in the area! Big thanks for this experience!

Guruge Villa has a very homely atmosphere. It is located around 10 minutes walking distance from the beach, railway station and bus stop. The host was very friendly and was always willing to help. He has a massive garden and showed me all the plants and fruits that are growing there. The beds are equipped with mosquito nets and a ventilator. It is also possible to do laundry at the stay.
