The bathroom is quite old and not really clean. I would have liked a mosquito net.

The location is amazing with a big garden and a swimming pool, in the middle of the jungle. The staff is really nice and keen to share. The dîner was also really good.

We were so looked after during our stay here. They organised safaris,night walks, tuk tuks and meals for us! Aruna has so much knowledge about all things wildlife and the place is so lucky to have him. We loved our stay here.

Property felt really remote, Anton was super friendly and helpful. The pool was an added bonus and kids enjoyed a refreshing dip in the afternoon while the peacocks roamed around. Dinner was provided at an additional cost but was tasty as well as tea and biscuits at 1730. They also organised our morning safari and MJ our guide was great.

Beer was very expensive here. As one can expect in the middle of the jungle there are a bit more insects in the room. However, the host fearlessly cleaned them out immediately upon request.

Both the host and the naturalist (Andura) were very friendly and knowledgeable about the environment and wildlife. Prepared nice food as well.

Nice place, good size room and cold aircon. They offered a really nice dinner for reasonable price. They offered safari to Yala National Park if you are interested too. We were with a tuk tuk and the road was a bit difficult, we got stucked on our way out but staff helped us.

Really friendly and attentive staff. Fantastic location for yala and ability to include the safari made it all super simple. Beds were really comfy, air con was good. Serving tea and snacks at 17:30 was a lovely surprise. Pool is small but still refreshing!

The toilet flush did not work well. Every time it took 3 flushes to be effective. The toilet cistern refill was very slow, so wating each time for the three flush actions was not good. The shower water heater did not function. Even though the power light was green and the thermostat adjustment worked, the heating element did not work. The long driveway from the road was muddy from one end to the other. Only 4wd trucks could use it. Because our car could not use the driveway, carrying our luggage in and out on the muddy path was tricky. Mosquitos in our room were a real problem.

Anton the manager was helpful. The evening meal was tasty.

We loved our two-night stay at Funky Leopard as a family of four. The lodge is very close to the entrance to Yala. Anton, our host, was very welcoming and attentive. He made sure we had everything we needed. The room was fairly basic but great for the price and very clean. Beds super comfortable. Only downside was poor water pressure on shower, but that wasn’t much of an issue. The grounds are lovely with big trees and many visiting grey langur monkeys and peacocks. The pool was great surprise to cool off in at end of hot day. We had breakfast and two dinners there with plentiful food. They organised our full day trip on safari jeep to Yala with packed breakfast and lunch. Yala is so very diverse in landscapes and incredibly beautiful. We paid the small extra fee for a guide, which was a good idea. Driver and guide worked hard to ensure we saw as many animals as possible. Saw elephants, crocodiles, monkeys, water buffalo, many birds, mongoose, hares and the best of all- two leopards. One young male walked right next to our jeep! Highly recommended full day- it’s a long, hot day but worth it to see more.

We were initially booked in to the chalet, which had no air conditioning, and was quite run down with many insects for company😅 We asked to be moved but the management told me over the phone I would be charged extra 20$………… I disputed this, and it was wavered, and we were moved to the main block which was great. Despite this initial issue, we had a great stay and were really happy with our staff, they couldn’t do enough for us 😁

On arrival we given complementary tea and each evening before dinner, afternoon tea. The food was excellent, and the staff looking after us were outstanding, so friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable.We also had a night time nature walk which was very interesting.

So much! The host Anton was welcoming and friendly and couldn't do enough for myself and the rest of the guests. The food he served was so enjoyable. He gave me ice cream on arrival plus everyday around 5pm he provided all the guests with an afternoon tea (and biscuits) which was such a lovely surprise. Dinner was a bbq feast which was delicious and he provided us with tea and biscuits at 5am the morning of the safari. On the day of safari, he provided me with a takeaway breakfast of a sandwich and fresh fruits, and lunch was also a feast of rice, potatoes and curry, and fresh fruits. He was so accommodating and such a great chef. The Naturist and my guide for safari Aruna was very knowledgeable about everything nature. He and the jeep driver/tracker were so good for my solo safari. I saw 2x leopards, a sloth bear (both of which are very rare to see so was very fortunate to see what I did), an elephant, plus numerous birds, deer and crocodiles, and other wildlife. Yala Park is beautiful. The lodge is clean, comfortable and the A/C is great. The dining and lounge areas made it accessible to.meet and talk with other guests in the lodge, and this was lovely. Meeting the other guests was a highlight for me. Overall, I loved Funky Leopard. Beautiful location surrounded by monkeys and peacocks, amongst other things. My favourite place to have stayed so far in my Sri Lankan trip.

Unnecessary automated confirmation messages on booking.com coming through on the messaging system even though they did not have a room for us. I continued to get these automated messages asking for feedback after checkout . Upon reflection their pricing seems at the upper level for comparative to other options in the area and the Safari pricing when booked onsite is lower than if you booked it with the accommodation for some reason? There was also a language barrier with the staff and if you had any “off script” issues as it seemed that there was only 1 or 2 people that could resolve them.

We didn’t get to experience the property as they double booked us and we were given the option of moving to their sister tented site 10 minutes before we arrived. There the tents were very nice though with integrated bathrooms, so not all bad. The evening campfire bbq was also a nice experience. The staff were always polite friendly and on hand to help.

We had a good stay at the funky leopard. It was nice that they did an afternoon tea. Chef Joseph took very good care of us and made us a fantastic Sri Lanka breakfast. In general the staff was very pleasant and eager to help us.

When we were there the hostel was quite empty and it’s in the middle of no where.

It has a cool vibe and it’s really close to the national park. There is a lot of space around and the staff is really accommodating.

The property itself leaves a lot to be desired. Our room wasn't very well looked after. The sheets had stains, the door wouldn't close properly and we were never able to lock it from the outside. The handle was pretty much falling off .The pool was a swamp and this was the main reason we booked there. It was really hot out so we were disappointed to see the water. We did not go in despite the staff thinking it was ok. Water is from a well and sometimes was just not working at all and was pretty brackish.

The staff were amazing. They were so friendly and really went above and beyond for us. The safari they arranged for us was also great. Our guide and driver were really knowledgeable and found some really cool wildlife for us. The evening communal tea was a nice way to meet other travellers.
