Our host Sudath and his family is an exemple of kindness and we were really happy to spend two nights there. Breakfast and dinner were super tasty. Sudath has a farm and serve his products. Any request, they find a solution. Location is perfect, not far from the turmoil of city center (5 min tuk tuk) and calm. Thank you again. We recommend !

Beautiful setting by the river surrounded by trees. Possibly the best Sri Lankan rice and curry we've had in 16 days. Also delicious fresh cold smoothies and an excellent breakfast. Super friendly helpful people. 100% recommend.

Beautiful family room with great view. Clean room, nice beds. Very nice and hospitable family. Dinner and breakfast were amazing. Less than 10 min away from Ella town, you need a tuktuk/car to get there.

Forest Rawana Homestay is a great place to go to, the care and warmth of the family that runs this place is really something else. They take great pride and care in making your stay as comfortable as possible. That is what really makes this place special. Both lunch and diners are overwhelming in terms of food and variety. We stayed here with our 2 kids (5 and 7). The place is situated 5-10m from Ella downtown by tuk tuk, which is about 600-800 rupees one way. Close to the location is a Buddhist temple and a Cave with some pre-historic finds. We found it a great place as it was also a bit more quiet and in nature as opposed to the super busy and touristy area of Ella itself. We arranged some trips to the Lipton seat and towards our next stay in Dickwella. The prices asked were very fair rates, definitely much lower if you would organise it in Ella itself.

The whole family members are running the hotel. They serve the food for dinner as well as breakfast they ask us as we want. Hospitality and food is excellent. The hotel is located at down to the road. They carry the luggeges to the room and then to car.

A very beautiful homestay. We found it after going down a few steps. The food was the best we had in Sri Lanka. A very peaceful environment. The best people. Everyone welcomed us with a smile. We will come back again.

The bathroom could have been better by providing something for us to clean up the water from the shower. Drainage was difficult.

There is some building work going on there as they are adding another floor to the property but as we were out during the day it didn’t really bother us. The property is quite a way up a steep hill so you’ll need a tuk tuk to get around but this is the nature of Ella in the hills.

The family who ran the home stay were so hospitable & friendly. They arranged a taxi to collect us when we arrived at the train station. It was raining so hard & absolute chaos with everyone trying to get their own transport it was a real nice touch. They prepared a banquet of an evening meal for us which was absolutely delicious. Traditional Sri Lankan curry’s, rice & noodles. There was so much of it we couldn’t finish it all. The owner can arrange trips out & onward travel arrangements so do ask as it is a little cheaper than arranging it in town.

No AC which is ok as it isn't too hot and there is a big fan, but this means the humidity builds up.

Lovely homestay with a welcoming family. We stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed our time here. The setting in the hillside is great for birdwatching from your balcony and the family are very helpful with transport if you need it so don't be worried about being out of town. The food was our highlight - traditional Sri Lankan breakfast and we had dinner here 2/3 nights. The curries were the best food we have had in Sri Lanka. Rooms are spacious with good bathrooms and mosquito nets. We did our laundry here too for a good price. It's important to remember this is a homestay not a hotel so you need to be comfortable with that environment.

It was really a great stay. The touristic city Ella is close (5-10min with tuktuk) and you get to enjoy both: the city and the quiet nature around the homestay. We really liked the people: one of the nicest so far!! The food was also amazing 🌞

Beautiful and clean accommodation in the hearth of nature. Hotel included a large bathroom, where hot water flowed without problems. We had a very tasty Sri Lankan breakfast in the accommodation, which also included coffee. We also took advantage of the dinner option - delicious Sri Lankan. The hotel is in a quiet part, not in the city center, but the owners provided us with a tuk-tuk transfer from the station (free) to the center and back. There is a scooter rental option at the accommodation. The family is very friendly, nice and very helpful. Among other things, they also arranged for us a share taxi to Udawalawe, a jeep driver in Udawalawe, etc. Wave to everyone and see you later!

We had a wonderful stay at Forest Rawana Homestay! The family took care of us. It was really well organised and we got some good tips to do in the area. We also really loved the food, everyday we got a different colored pancake and a different juice, which made it feel really special. I would recommend this stay if you are in Ella!

The family running this accomodation are so lovely - they are kind and friendly and made our trip to Ella excellent. Their son found out it was my partner’s birthday the next day and made a birthday party for him the next morning - a wonderful act of kindness that made his day (thank you again!) The family’s food is unbelievably delicious and very generous portions. The ensuite was spotlessly clean and comfortable. It’s slightly outside of the main Ella town which we found ideal as the centre is noisy and here it was so peaceful, with wonderful views over the valley. The family also helped arrange moped hire and book tuk tuks so it was very easy to get around. Would highly recommend staying here!

Just for information really- this property has a quite a number of steps down to access it and might be challenging for some.

Wow, what a special place! We spent 2 nights here and the family couldn’t do enough for us- so kind and generous. They made us cups of tea and coffee when we arrived and throughout our stay. Stunning location in the jungle away from the centre of Ella, with views across to Little Adam’s Peak. Delicious food- they made us an amazing curry on our 1st night- 7 different kinds with rice! And the breakfast….just delicious. Our room was very clean with a comfortable bed, mosquito net and a balcony overlooking the family farm and onto beautiful views. We used their taxi to get us around and to our next destination. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. 😊

Not about the property. Just a tip: the tuktuk drivers near the entrance start with high prices, so ask the home owners to arrange a tuktuk ;)

Beautiful location on the mountain in nature. Very clean large room with a very large breakfast. The home owners are incredibly nice and help you with everything you need. Perfect stay to explore Ella and come home to calm surroundings.
