We had a wonderful stay here! The rooms are clean and very comfortable, and the accommodation is well located for visiting the sites of Anuradhapura. The hosts are incredibly generous and hospitable. They did everything to make us feel comfortable and helped us organize our visits. And above all, we had the best Sri Lankan breakfast of our entire trip!!! Thank you again for the little gifts when we left

It is next to the railway tracks, so you should bring ear plugs. But as there is not so much train traffic especially at night it is not that bad.

The owners make the difference here. They are very polite, helpful and nice people and were the best hosts we had in Sri Lanka.

The family was very, very nice. They helped out with ideas and even a free ride to a site and the busstation. The house is modern. Breakfast and dinner are supurb. Communication is a breeze. The tuktuk driver Jana is ‘connected’ to the owner. He was also very knowledgeable and relaxed. We had a great couple of days with him.

We had an absolutely fantastic stay here! Mr. Mahinda and his wife were incredibly accommodating, doing everything they could to make us feel at home. Seriously, nothing was too much trouble for them. We had hoped for a rooftop terrace, but it turned out to be a floor still under construction. No problem, though—Mr. Mahinda immediately set us up with two chairs on our balcony. They are such warm and caring people; it honestly felt like staying with family. The Sri Lankan meals were not only delicious but also incredibly generous. They also perfectly arranged our Wilpattu safari, plus a tuk-tuk and guide for our visit to Anuradhapura. And to top it all off, the couple drove us to Trincomalee in their comfortable car for the next part of our adventure. What a truly wonderful experience! We would absolutely love to come back here again.

Our stay was absolutely wonderful — the room was very comfortable and stylish, easily comparable to a 3- or 4-star hotel. We felt completely safe and at home. The location is okay, but what makes this place truly special is the amazing owner and their lovely family. We had a fantastic home-cooked dinner, and they even helped us catch our early morning train. As we left, they handed us a beautifully prepared breakfast box with a sweet surprise :) Experiences like this are rare not just in Anueadhapura, but all across Sri Lanka. Highly recommended — thank you for everything!

The room is well equipped and the neighborhood is calm by night, we slept very well! The shower was not so clean, but the rest of the room was clean! The host and his wife are very kind and helpful. The food is generous and delicious, much better than some restaurants in the area!

We've never given a 10 rating before, but we would give 11 if we could. Bandara & Nilmini are the best hosts: kind, generous, honest and helpful. We felt truly cared for the whole time we were there. Nilmini's cooking was hands down the best we had in Sri Lanka. Every breakfast and dinner she brought us different delicious dishes. We are foodies/cooks, and she helped us understand the different ingredients and their uses both culinary and medicinal, and even made me an Ayurvedic tea for my annoying cough. Bandara organised a Wilpattu trip for us which was fantastic. He also charged very reasonable rates to drive us anywhere we wanted to go. We appreciated his comfy car after many a public bus journey. Our room was clean, airy and comfy. Location is perfect for exploring Anuradhapura. We will be back next time we're in Sri Lanka!

The hosts are just so lovely and sweet. I arrived about 9pm which was probably too late for dinner for them but they still whipped me up some curry and desert which was delicious. All the food they provided was yummy and plentiful. He also really helped me by organising a Wilpattu safari for me, and they drove me to Kandy as well (I paid for them for these things but they really went out of their way to help organise for me). Lastly on the journey to Kandy they could see I was very tired so they actually stopped to by me a pillow for me to rest my head on! The room was modern and clean with an en suite, everything you need. Can’t recommend highly enough

We spent four days at Emerald Home Stay and felt as being home! Wonderful and very very helpful hosts! Thank you very much! Breakfast and dinner were extremely good! We had a spacious and comfortable room with AC. We even were brought to the bus terminal when we left.

It was my favourite place to stay in Sri Lanka, and we stayed at many fantastic places with great people. What was special is that our hosts treated us like family, were always happy to have a chat, and really went above and beyond to be helpful - they helped us get to the train station, buy a train ticket and many other small things. Apart from that: - the home-cooked food is delicious (and portions are quite large). - they can rent bikes - the Ancient City is 20 minutes away - the room are newly refurbished, clean, with some nice touches (the tea bags, etc) Thank you so much for your kindness and your hospitality. This is a special place.

We slept 4 nights in Emerald Home Stay. One new and beautiful hotel in Anuradhapura.... A spacious room with balcony and a large bathroom with lovely hot water. In addition, the owner and his wife are very nice people. Nothing is too much. They cooked delicious food for us. With the owner we have an excursion to Wilpattu National Park booked. The owner of the hotel took us here and picked us up. His wife was interested in Wilpattu National Park provided a delicious breakfast and lunch. They are very nice, hospitable people. There are several ATM machines and a supermarket a 10-minute walk from the hotel.... Directly opposite the hotel is a bakery and a simple restaurant. We would highly recommend this hotel....

We can’t find anything

From start to finish, our stay at Emerald was amazing! The room was super clean and comfortable, The bathroom was spacious with large shower and plenty of warm water The breakfast and dinner were both outstanding, with well-prepared local dishes that really showcased the flavors of the area. The hosts were exceptionally kind, always ready to assist and make sure we had everything we needed. We highly recommend this place

The owner of the hotel is very polite and kind. We arrived earlier than expected, but they readily accommodated us with a room. Moreover they offer marvelous breakfast and clean spacious room. as a four or five stars hotel! We were really satisfied with our stay.
