Stayed in Ella before this is our favourite so far, the view is amazing, 5 minute walk down the train line into town. Rooms clean and comfortable, Loved the trains going past really made the place Good breakfast. Perfect hosts.

We stayed as a family of 4 in the A Frame. It was a beautiful and clean 2 storey A framed cabin. The son and father who ran the home stay were so welcoming and provided all the information that was needed. Breakfast was lovely and plentiful however it is the view that made this place special!!!

The hosts don’t speak much English but were lovely. We didn’t know whether breakfast was included and this was tricky with the language barrier. Turns out it wasn’t but they made us some and charged us a little extra

Had a good stay at Ella Happy view. Facilities were great and room was very comfortable, loved having access to cups and a kettle. Nice view and location is right beside train tracks - did not find this disruptive, trains did not run overnight and we enjoyed watching the trains go past. Found the location a little tricky to find initially, there was much easier access from beside the train tracks. Just note if you are heading off early in the morning like we did to catch the train, there is no early breakfast option. The hosts were welcoming and provided us with a lovely breakfast and fresh towels when needed.

The people were so friendly and helpful! I felt very comfortable and the location of the homestay is beautiful, with a view to the Ella rock and a waterfall. Breakfast was delicious.

A little bit hard to access with car/taxi, but manageable.

Nice villa with good views and good location. The villa was fairly newly built so everything worked very well. Multiple usb-charging units was a big benefit. Short walk to the town via rail tracks. A very good breakfast.

Our stay at Ella Happy View was a lovely experience. The hosts were kind and gave us directions for nearby hikes, they even offered an umbrella when it was raining which we appreciated. The view of the mountain is genuinely breathtaking and the place is a 5 minute walk down the train tracks to the main road in Ella. The room we stayed in was nice and clean and had a good comfortable bed. The mountain view room we stayed in is right next to the railway track which was a charming quirk, we found the early morning trains were never really too loud to bother us as we woke up early anyway. One of our favorite stays so far in Sri Lanka!

The way leading up to the new annex was still a dirt road, but the staff did help with the luggages. Hopefully it can be paved soon.

We stayed in the new annex of the guest house - very clean and cozy. The bed was comfortable with stable hot water. The staff was helpful in responding to our requests.

It would be useful to have more shelving and hooks on the walls to hang your clothes. A chair or two in the room would be welcome too.

The location of the homestay is excellent. It has got a direct view of the Ella rock and the Ravana falls and is only a short walk on the train track to the many restaurant in this very touristy town. The trains that pass in front of the house are, in my opinion an added bonus, as they make for an interesting experience. I enjoyed seeing the locals walking to the centre or home on the tracks. The family were very friendly and were doing their best to make our stay comfortable.

Right at the end of a rough track, taxi had to drop us half way down as couldn't get any further and pick up taxi wouldn't come down the lane at all as low suspension on his car I think lol so was a bit of a trek to get to it (Owner's son in law did take our suitcases up to the car along with the taxi driver!) Shower was not very good as lacked pressure and the angle was wrong as well Lots of small back flies (not obviously their fault) when sitting outside so make sure you have lots of spray

We stayed here 4 nights and really nice room, right on the tracks which was perfect for us so easy to get around along the tracks. Room was good (shower was not great though), there was no air con in the room but we didn't really need it (does have a fan). Kettle in room with cups etc as well, good beds with mosquito net. Trains are erratic lol one day 5am and other day 7am and as you are right on the tracks you do hear it and feel it but it didn't worry us. Was quite private as a big hedge in front (still could see the view but not the people going along the track) but obviously train people could see in especially if they stopped right outside which they did but most waved :-) Amazing views though and a lovely family. Breakfast was nice and generous. Stick to the Tea which was lovely as the coffee was a little strange (very weak and tasted like tea with a hint of coffee!) The family did have a new born child (daughters) but actually it was very quiet and didn't disturb us at all Ella is about a 5-7 minute stroll along the track with loads of bars and restaurants - highly recommend going to Granma's Kitchen by alley way at Chill Restaurant as it is superb and very cheap. Next door to it the brother runs a cookery class as well. Such a lovely family. We also really liked OneLove (we only went for coffee) but an amazing 4 floor restaurant which had a lovely atmosphere.

The A frame didn’t feel like great value for money especially considering the price of the other rooms which we booked there. We also had them call us a tuktuk which turned out to be the most dangerous tuktuk driver in our two months in Sri Lanka where we took only public transport and tuktuks. He was driving on the wrong side of the road around blind hairpins in the dark without his headlights while we were yelling from the backseat

Great location on the train tracks so you can easily walk into town but still out of town enough to get some fresh air and quiet. Breakfast was pretty good
