I had a great stay at Ella Festoon. The room was clean and comfortable, with a balcony, small fridge, and kettle — perfect for relaxing. The guesthouse is located slightly outside the busy center of Ella, which I really appreciated. The walk along the railway tracks to the Nine Arches Bridge and to the centre is beautiful, and the road down into town also offers lovely views. The highlight of my stay was the incredibly warm and caring family who run the place. They took such good care of me and were always happy to help with anything I needed. I felt truly welcome and well looked after. The breakfast was amazing, too! Highly recommended for travelers who appreciate a more personal atmosphere just outside the center of Ella!

Nothing - it was great.

Fantastic clean and spacious rooms in an excellent location. 10 minute walk to Ella city when you use the shortcut that our wonderful host showed us. But fair enough away for it to be nice and quiet in the evenings. The hosts were so welcoming and helped us with anything we needed during our stay. They also provide a very generous and delicious breakfast.

We had a wonderful time at Ella Festoon! The accommodation was very clean, cozy, and lovingly furnished – but what truly made this place special was the incredibly warm-hearted family who hosted us. Since we were the only guests at the time, we had the chance to spend long evenings together, exchanging stories and enjoying the truly welcoming atmosphere. We immediately felt at home. Breakfast every morning was plentiful and incredibly delicious. On one evening, we also had the chance to enjoy a homemade dinner – which was outstanding! We had two rooms: the deluxe room at the top with a stunning balcony view, and a smaller but very cozy room downstairs. For us and our children, this was one of the most beautiful, warm, and welcoming stays we had during our entire trip in Sri Lanka. A big thank you to the family – for their hospitality, the conversations, and the heartfelt care. If we ever return to Ella, there is no doubt: we will stay here again!

The insects, but they are unavoidable in Ella!

The room was very clean and the property is beautiful! The owners/ hosts were very welcoming and helpful! They picked us up from downtown ella during our stay. We would highly recommend this guest house if you are in Ella!!

There wasn't much we didn't like. Maybe only water in the shower could be with a stronger pressure.

Owners are incredible people who helped us arrange all activities we were looking for. Extremely quickly and always in good prices. Their hospitality was at an absolutely top level.

Can be road noise but it didnt effect sleep, we slept very well

Stand out for us was the beautiful family they looked after us transport, where to eat, short routes into Ella and 9 arches. They noticed we did not leave our room following bad news from home, they checked in on us and made us the best vegetable soup we’ve ever had. Amazing hospitality ❤️ Amazing views, amazing breakfast, very clean & spacious room, big bathroom plenty hot water.

The BEST place we stayed in in all of Sri Lanka. The hosts are incredibly kind and attentive and make you feel like you're right at home. The accommodation is stunning with beautiful views of the mountains, including a breathtaking sunrise. The room is spacious, very clean and comfortable with a huge balcony/terrace. You're only 10 mins walk from Ella and close to all the main attractions- 9 arch bridge, ella rock, adams peak and beautiful monastery. We were served absolutely huge and delicious breakfast which had all you could ask for- and we even got goodies to take away. I was lucky enough to celebrate my birthday whilst staying here and the whole family made me feel very special- they arranged cake with candles and couldn't be cuter about making my day truly unique. Do not hesitate and book this place, you won't find anything better. Best best best! Thank you so much, we're so grateful for your hospitality, come visit us in England ❤️

Room is next to the road so there will be sound of vehicles and train passing by. If you’re a light sleeper might be a problem. There are also lots of insects that came from nowhere but they provided mosquito net so it is okay

It is a family run business and the family did everything they can to make our stay comfortable. Breakfast was extensive and we pack some for our walk to Nine Arches bridge, which was around 30-40 mins from the homestay. Hot water, wifi, hairdryer was available. There’s only fan but it is quite cool during the day and night. Our standard room was cosy.

We had the most wonderful few days staying at Ella Festoon. Lakshika and her family went above and beyond to ensure we had the best possible experience in Ella, booking excursions to waterfalls on bikes, recommending the best places to visit, and making sure we got everything at the right price. They truly couldn’t do enough for us. Every morning, we enjoyed a huge and delicious breakfast to start the day. Our room was spacious, clean, and had a stunning view overlooking the mountains. We loved being slightly away from the main strip, which can be noisy and touristy, while still being within walking distance of town and the Nine Arches Bridge. In the evenings, we took tuk-tuks to get around.

Everything! The beautiful host family went above and beyond to make sure we had the best time in Ella. It was the highlight of our trip. The beautiful breakfasts were generous and delicious. They helped us organise our itinerary and coordinate transport (even picking us up from dinners to save tuk tuk costs). This family thought of everything and above all else they were the loveliest people.

I have to mention that there were some ants during the night, but we solved the problem not leaving things on the floor. Just get a little creative and it’s completely fine!

This stay was really great! Run by a lovely family that helped us with everything we needed. Its not located in the city center but you can go on a little adventure and walk through the train rails and arrive the center of Ella in 15 minutes. Same if you want to do a hike to the mountains, just walk the opposite direction. They also offered us what so far was the best breakfast of the whole trip for us!! Also need to mention that they own a puppy who i fell in love with!

Nothing really. The internet in all of Ella is quite overloaded, but that not Ella Festoon's fault.

A very welcoming experience and unbelievably great service! Our total recommendation! :) When we arrived the family took so great care of us and made an amazing breakfast every morning for us. We had an lovely view of the mountains and greenery and the room was very comfortable and home-like. If there were any issues, they were very fast at responding immediately. The area is great because it's away from the bustle and pollution of Ella town, but in good walking distance.

We loved the view from our room's balcony! What an amazing room to wake up in. Bathroomd were good! - spacious and clean. Thr family was very friendly and helpful. The home made Breakfast was a special treat. Excellent value for money. Highly recommended.

The room was a little bit smelly, but we think that was just a temporary problem with the plumbing since everything was cleaned well and we haven’t read any other complaints about it.

The family is super sweet and helpful. They picked us up from the city center without extra costs and when we left they arranged a taxi for us at a very reasonable price. The owner also arranged a scooter for us : highly recommended because it’s the best way to explore the beautiful surroundings of Ella. The location was perfect for us. Far enough from the city center, but with a shortcut (shown by the owner) just 10 minutes walking. So don’t be fooled by googlemaps: you can walk over the train tracks to the city. Sounds weird to us westerners, but it’s just an extra road to Sri Lankans. Not dangerous at all because trains are slow: There’s even small bars along the tracks! The room is basic, but clean and comfortable. The breakfast is absolutely amazing, both in quality and quantity. A broad spread of western and Sri Lankan food and more then enough to take for lunch as well. We had a very nice time!

We had an amazing stay at Ella Festoon, the hosts were so friendly and kind, the room is super spacious with two large private terraces to enjoy the view, comfortable bed and everything super clean. The breakfast was delicious and always plenty. The hosts also organised tuktuk trips for us, gave us great recommendations to explore the area and drove us to/from town when we needed a shuttle. You can also walk to Ella city in 15ish minutes via the rail tracks or get a tuktuk in town. Highly recommend - many thanks !
