After we had to cancel our other stay in Ella due to shifting plans we found Ella Family House at the last moment, and we were very happy we did! We had the family room and this worked very well for us (family of 4 with kids aged 4 and 6) The beds were good, the curtains made it fairly dark (which is way better than the average in Sri Lanka) and we had everything we needed. The food was amazing and the host made sure we got everything we wanted, as well as giving great tips. Our only doubt was that booking said there was no airconditioning, but there actually was! The view is amazing as well and the garden and common area are a great place to relax. It is close to Ella (5 min by car) but not in the busy center. We didn’t have any problems with the sound of the nearby road as some other reviews mentioned.

Shalika and her family were amazing! The house is beautiful with gorgeous views, very comfortable and clean and very nice aesthetic. Breakfast was delicious and Shalika so friendly in making sure we had everything we need and arranging tuktuks for us. We would definitely recomment this place for your visit to Ella!!

Lovely family owned hotel set into the hillside just outside the busier parts of Ella. Nice large room with air conditioning and mosquito net. Fantastic breakfast. Tuktuk available if required for transport into Ella

Very nice host who made us feel at home immediately. Great breakfast, large rooms, super view on the monastery. Outside the noice of Ella but easy to get there by tuktuk in 10 minutes. Recommended!!

A beautiful place just minutes from central Ella with stunning views and all the facilities our family needed. Shalika and her husband were incredibly kind and helpful, they went above and beyond. Breakfast was generous with a selection of Sri Lankan specialities, fresh fruit, tea and coffee, and the home-cooked traditional dinner with vegetables from her garden was one of the best we had on our whole trip. They also arranged all our transport for our stay and even gave us a free ride to the train station. Can’t wait to come back!

Close to Ella and a great view up to the temple. We had a warm welcome and enjoyed our stay with Shalika and her lovely family. I recommend tasting cinnamon leaves in the garden.

My family really enjoyed our stay. The host was very friendly and helpful—in fact, she welcomed me even before we arrived. We came by train, and she kindly offered us transportation from the station, which was very thoughtful of her. I wouldn’t mind coming back again.

A cute find in Ella. This is immersed in authentic Ella, and the property is owned by a lovely family. The breakfast was a delicious feast!! I couldn't eat it all, so the lovely owner, Shalika, gave me a little takeaway box for my travels. I really felt spoilt, and they made me feel very welcome. The room was large, clean, and had everything I needed. Would definitely stay here again if I visit Ella.

The location was a bit loud from the road and city centre was a bit difficult to reach, you always have to take tuk tuk.

The room was clean and had everything you need. The owners were really nice and prepared great breakfast every morning.
