The road getting to and from town was a very rough stretch of road and tuk tuks were hard to get. Luckily the owner has a tuk tuk and will organise you a paid trip into town.

The location and view are stunning. It was just out the busy center but a nice walk of about 20 min. The host is most kind and helpful, the place very clean and spacious. The balcony is the best place we had to relax and take in the beautiful nature of this lovely area.

The view on the balcony is stunning. You have an unobstructed view of the beautiful nature, including waterfalls. You can also see the train driving through the mountains. Having breakfast on your own terrace with this amazing view was amazing. Everything was well maintained and the WiFi was fast. The staff were very friendly. Whenever we wanted to go to the Main Street, we messaged them and they would drive us there with their tuk tuk or call us one. This is the perfect place to relax in a peaceful environment, while still being close to a lot of very nice and trendy restaurants.

Ella Blue Heaven is a super charming little hotel in a magical location just outside Ella. We had breathtaking views of a beautiful waterfall and the nearby railway – a truly unique and peaceful setting. The breakfast was absolutely delicious, and the staff were amazing – always ready to help with anything we needed, from transport to drinks or any request we had. Their kindness and warm service made us feel right at home. A perfect place to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of Ella. Highly recommended!

If you're looking to get away from the busy town and want to go hiking to Ella Rock or visit the waterfalls, this is an awesome place to stay! You can hear the sounds of nature, see the waterfall, and even spot some wild birds from here. The place is well-equipped with essentials like shampoo and body wash. Breakfast is a big Western-style meal—really filling and tasty. Even though it’s a bit off the main road, getting a tuk tuk is super easy anytime, so getting around isn’t a problem. The two hosts are super friendly and full of energy—really appreciate their great service!

We stayed in the family room with a balcony and views of the waterfall. It's the perfect spot to have breakfast, surrounded by nature. The traditional Sri Lankan breakfast was very tasty with large portions and they accommodated our vegan request. The accommodation was very clean, probably the cleanest amongst all the places we stayed in Sri Lanka. And the family was super nice and helpful. They also provided tuk tuk rides when needed at a very good price. I recommend asking the host to provide a tuk tuk to get to the accommodation from the main Ella road, which is about 5 min. The access with a regular car is not great. You can also walk if you don't have big bags. It takes about 20 minutes.

The property is in a quiet location in an absolutely beautiful setting. The town and restaurants are close by and you can either walk or get a tuck tuk for about 2 dollars. The breakfast was also really good.

It was about 10-15 mins by car/tuk tuk into Ella along a bumpy road, which wasnt an issue but you have to allow extra travel time. Most places around Ella are very spread out so this would be common.

We had a lovely stay at Blue Heaven. The view from the room was stunning, you can see the waterfall and the train from there. Breakfast was incredible, and even better its bought up to the room for you to enjoy on the balcony.

Reaching the property is a bit of a trek. The road leading up to it is in poor condition, so be prepared for a bumpy ride. Also, while the room was generally clean, we did notice it hadn’t been cleaned properly behind the sofa.

The views from the terrace are simply breathtaking — you could easily spend hours just soaking it all in. From the peaceful sight of the waterfall in the distance to the daily parade of wildlife (monkeys swinging through the trees, peacocks strutting by), it's like watching nature's theatre unfold right in front of you. Breakfast was a real highlight — delicious, generous, and the perfect start to the day. The room itself was spacious and thoughtfully designed, with the mezzanine level being a big hit with the kids. It gave them their own little area to play and explore, which added an extra layer of fun to our stay. Highly recommended for families or anyone wanting to relax in a beautiful setting surrounded by nature.

A little bit further away from the town than we originally thought BUT it was very easy and cheap to get tuk tuk into town . It also meant that the house was very peaceful away from traffic noise.

The location was stunning. The views incredible. Very relaxing. You also get to see the trains go past. The family are so very helpful and kind. Vilhanga was always available at any time even though it was the New Year celebrations and many people on holiday. The breakfast on the balcony was always tasty and plentiful.

We loved our stay at Ella Blue Heaven. The views are amazing and it’s a very peaceful and relaxing place to be. The room was really comfortable and clean and we had a lovely breakfast everyday. The host is super helpful and very hospitable. There is just one single track/road that goes from the main road in Ella down to the apartment, it takes around 10mins in a tuk tuk.

The road to the property is a bit uncomfortable and the property is located on the side of the hill. Our driver couldn’t get there because the road was too steep but a tuk tuk was arranged by the hosts and everything was easy

Our stay at Ella Blue Heaven was nothing short of perfect! We had the most breathtaking view ever—truly unforgettable. There are only two rooms, and we were lucky to have the top one, which made the experience even more special. Our host, Vihanga (if I remember correctly), was simply the best. Super friendly, always ready to help with anything—whether it was arranging a tuk-tuk or taxi. We were warmly welcomed with a refreshing drink, and the breakfast was a real treat! A generous spread with fresh fruit, pancakes, yogurt, sandwiches, and coffee/tea—perfect to start the day. We only stayed one night, but honestly, we wish we could have stayed forever! We read that some people had issues with the WiFi, but we had no problems at all. That being said, a useful tip for travelers: consider getting a Sri Lankan SIM card (available at the airport or local stores). It’s super affordable (around €10 for 10GB, valid for about a month, and easy to top up), so you’ll always have a reliable connection. The hotel is located outside the busy center, which we actually loved. Ella’s main street can get very crowded and touristy, so being a bit away from the hustle and bustle was a big plus for us. It’s about a 20-minute walk to the center (with some steep parts), but tuk-tuks are readily available if you prefer. Overall, this place is a hidden gem, and we’d recommend it to anyone visiting Ella. Can’t wait to come back one day!
