How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

We stayed at this hotel and were very satisfied. Clean and cozy rooms, comfortable beds, and friendly staff. The location is convenient, with everything you need nearby. Overall, a great value for money. Highly recommend!

Super clean, absolutely lovely couple who own it. The gentleman took us for an amazing tour in his tuktuk for an excellent price. The room was huge with airconditioning and the bathroom was clean and modern. Highly reccomend.

the guest house is well located: 5 minutes walk to the ocean, cafes, a pharmacy, a store nearby. The guest house is clean, there is a place to dry clothes, a large super terrace where it is very pleasant to have breakfast (the owner's wife cooks an excellent breakfast). very attentive hosts who are always ready to help. the owner took us to a waterfall, a Buddhist temple and a stone factory by tuk-tuk. a small minus is not very stable internet on the 3rd floor. we will definitely come here again!

Our room was very hot during the day, but they immediately brought us an additional fan which solved the problem! So no complaints! 🙂
We loved our stay at Eden Blue so much that we extended our original 2 nights and stayed for 5 days. The rooms are spacious and clean, the beds big and comfortable, the roof terrace and shared kitchen is well equipped and nice to utilise. We also did our laundry for a fair price. Plus the hosts are really welcoming and helpful with any queries you have!

Just be careful when booking - not all rooms have AC and it's very hot!! But they did give me an additional fan and were very helpful!
Great hosts. Location good! A lovely place to spend time in Hikkaduwa.

I liked the location it's really calm, you do not hear any cars and the train just a little bit. The beach is just a 3 Minutes walk apart. The owner is really nice, helpful and caring. My room was super huge and the bed was very comfy. Everything worked like I expected it to do. There was also a kitchen and a terrace where I had my breakfast.

I told the staff it's hot and could use another fan and next day they bought a new fan. They really went so far to make my stay comfortable. Property is really neat and clean located very near to the beach. It's highly recommended in Hikkaduwa. Thank you so much for the kind hospitality.

All I can say is that we loved it here, we booked 3 nights and have 2 more because we liked it so much. It’s close to the long and beautiful Narigama Beach, about 5 minutes walk. We had a big room with a good AC and fan, nice and comfortable bed with mosquito net. The staff is so helpful, nice and service minded! The place is calm and quiet! We really recommend this place! 👌🏽😃

We booked this last minute as our plans changed and landed us in Hikkaduwa. We had a pleasant stay here, and especially enjoyed the proximity to town. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable. The staff were happy to help with our requests. Make sure you check if your room has AC, as the fan is sometimes simply not enough in hot Sri Lankan weather!
