The perfect place for an authentic experience in the middle of the tea plantations! The campsite is well maintained and full of charm, with stunning views all around. In the evening we lit a campfire, which made the atmosphere truly magical.

I very much enjoyed my stay here and at this amazing location. It’s very beautiful walking down through the tea plantations and waking up in a cute little hut with an amazing view that made this stay one of the best I had in Sri Lanka. The people are super friendly and the food they serve is great! If you enjoy a simple life, this is the place to be!

This was an amazing experience! Viraj and his family greeted us at the top of the mountain with tea, followed by a short hike down to the camp. It’s situated on a remote mountain surrounded by tea plantations and absolutely peaceful. In the morning you can see a beautiful sunrise from bed and the family prepares the most delicious breakfasts, dinners and BBQs. Unfortunately we were both a bit sick but Viraj’s family took great care of us, prepared some herbal drinks and drove us to a doctor and pharmacy where they translated everything. Thank you very much! Would definitely recommend!!!

Where to start... this place is magical! We ended up at Vitajs camp by chance and it turned out to be our favorite days in Sri Lanka!!! If you like nature, remote camping, hiking and a bit of adventure it is more then perfect. The camp is located on a tea farm, only accessible via foot, so it's so calm and peaceful, really a piece of heaven. You can come from haputale via tuktuk, leave big bags at the house on top of the hill and just bring what you need for the night down to the camp. CAVE: You should be comfortable with walking, no electricity and cold water, if not, it's probably not for you. If yes, you will have the greatest time, Viraj and his family are the nicest and most welcoming people we've met in Sri Lanka so far. He speaks perfect English and is super open minded and a fun guy, so you can hang out with him at the nightly campfire, chat and learn lots about Sri Lanka culture. And the food his mum cooks... just amazing, also best I've had so far, no lie. 11/10.

I had the most beautiful 2 nights here, I was so sad to leave. A beautiful and peaceful place amongst nature where you can watch the sunrise over the mountain from bed. The food was so good and Viraj and his family are friendly and funny. I loved reading in the hammock and also went to the natural pool nearby for a refreshing swim and walk through the tea fields. If you love camping and nature you will love this place. 💚🌄

This was a highlight of our trip in Sri Lanka. The camping is a unique experience with incredible views. Wake up to the sunrise from your bed! The accommodation and bathroom facilities are spotlessly clean and comfortable. Home cooked delicious meals, breakfasts, curries and bbq made with love, all eaten while overlooking the spectacular view. We enjoyed the evening bonfiire chats under the stars meeting fellow travellers. You will be warmly welcomed here by Viraj, Hiran and their kind family. Viraj arranged and guided us on a spectacular waterfall hike, took us shopping in Haputale and we enjoyed a fabulous cooking class with his mother. Jam packed adventure with great hosts. Viraj is very knowledgeable and super helpful.. Highly recommended! Thank you Viraj and Hiran.

Eco Lodge Haputale gave me my first ever camping experience—and I’m absolutely amazed! The view is truly breathtaking, and you’ll be surprised by how magical the sunrise looks from this spot. It’s something you really have to see for yourself. We slept in a tent, and while you can’t expect hotel-level facilities at a campsite, I was more than satisfied with everything provided. The setting was comfortable, peaceful, and perfect for a nature getaway. A big shoutout to Viraj, the owner, and his lovely family—they were incredibly helpful, kind, and made us feel right at home. Their hospitality made the whole experience even more memorable. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this place to anyone looking for a unique and serene camping experience in Sri Lanka. Can’t wait to visit again!

You should definitely pin this place on your travel map. The atmosphere? Unreal. Surrounded by misty mountains, cold winds, and pure camping vibes—it felt like a slice of heaven. A small hike led us to the campsite, where kerosene lamps lit up one of the coziest nights I’ve ever had. No modern technology, no distractions—just nature, warmth, and good company. And that sunrise? Hands down, the best I’ve ever witnessed. This place isn’t just a destination—it became a part of me. Huge thanks to the super friendly staff for treating us so well. This wasn’t just camping, this was a 5 billion star hotel experience.

    Nothing

We loved our stay at Eco Lodge - it was so amazing. Viraj, Hiran and the entire family are incredibly welcoming, kind and knowledgeable and we felt part of the family. We stayed at the guesthouse (which we’d also highly recommend) and booked the lodge separately as we didn’t realise it was run by the same family. The Eco Lodge has great facilities, comfy beds (for camping) and the most amazing view. Sunrise and Sunset were a highlight and the food was delicious (they catered to our veggie requirements beautifully). This was such a highlight for us, so much that we are coming back in a couple of weeks. 🥰 Also would highly recommend Franky’s Hut on the main road - the masala chai, chocolate rotis and samosas are the best 👏🏻

This camping spot feels like it was made just for me. There's no artificial setup—just pure, unspoiled nature. The view of the mountains and sunrise right in front of me is breathtaking. The nights are chilly and windy, and though I initially booked for one night, I’ve ended up staying for three. I wish I could stay for a month! Viraj and Hiran's family, who own this place, are incredibly welcoming and make you feel like you're at home. The food, cooked by their mom, is absolutely amazing—truly unreal! I hope they keep this place as it is, free from artificial changes. I’ll definitely be coming back again and again. We have to walk for 1 KM down, Not hot shower even it's cold climate, no Electricity, But these are the uniqueness of this place, that's why we cane here!

It was really fun to do the camp fires, and i did a cooking class with the family, this was a lot of fun, and the brother is a good guide who took me to liptons seat and explained things about tea. The views at the camp site are amazing. Whenever you walk down to the camp site, they make sure someone is with you. When you stay here, don't expect a comfortable glamping experience, the facilities are basic but functionable.

If there is a strong wind you hear it quite loudly in the cabin, but it adds to the camping vibe.

The sunrise from the viewpoint next to the campsite is amazing. Viraj, the owner, is a chill guy that can help you with anything, and is up for a chat. To reach the camp he will take you for a 1km hike through the tea fields. Adds to the secluded atmosphere of the camp.

I was asked to pay a commission amount which was in addition to the final price mentioned. I was perplexed and then there a bit of negotiation-yes/no/why etc. which I would have preferred to avoid.

Despite almost a 1km hike to the location (I was prewarned) the place was absolutely worth the effort-exactly as per the pics. The host provided an excellent vegetarian meal at my request as I am one.

I had the pleasure of staying at this eco-lounge camp in Haputale, and though I wasn’t able to stay at the actual campsite, the host went above and beyond to ensure I had a fantastic experience. Right away, he proposed a cozy room alternative with the most breathtaking view – a truly beautiful spot to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings. The host’s kindness and attention to detail made my stay incredibly comfortable. He arranged all my tuk-tuk rides, making it easy to explore Haputale without any hassle. He also gave me fantastic recommendations for things to see and do in the area, helping me make the most of my time there. As a solo traveler, I especially appreciated how he checked in on me throughout the day, ensuring I felt safe and supported. His thoughtful care made me feel genuinely welcomed and valued, adding a personal touch to my stay that I’ll always remember. If you’re looking for a peaceful retreat with stunning views and a host who truly cares about your experience, I highly recommend this eco-lounge camp. My stay was a delight from beginning to end, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the warm hospitality.

This is an excellent glamping site in Haputhale. The accommodations include comfortable tents and mud houses with mattresses and pillows. There are also shower rooms and washrooms available, along with drinking water. The food provided is delicious and well-prepared. One of the highlights of this campsite is the nearby viewpoint, offering breathtaking views, especially during the morning sunrise, which is directly visible from the site. It's a truly spectacular sight and one of the best sunrises you'll ever witness.

This camping site did have an outstanding location. It could have easily been wonderful. But this is a place that has seemingly nowbeen neglected . The mattress was dirty and lost all padding (admitted to by owner). We were taken down to the site at 17:30 from the main house and felt like we were more or less abandoned from then other than two boys that hung around at times for reasons I do not know. We were the only ones staying there. The owner was "too tired" to come dwn to explain how things work or what we should expect. Food was delivered late at 20:30 - largely rice with small amount of thin dhal, two chicken bones with tiny bit of meat on for 1500 rupees. one of the worst meals had in srilanka. I think this was the left overs from the homestay dinner but am not sure. The WC emptied audibly into a field a few metres away from the block - but we did not inspect to see if soak away existed. 2 broken hammocks. We left after one night. We regulary camp in the UK including at Glastonbury. This was truely awful. It was certainly not glamping and to use that term is misleading. The only good thing was to ignore the host (who said breakfast is at 8:30) and hike up to the homestay for breakfast much earlier. That breakfast was good. The host canceled our second night with agreement but this meant I was unable to post a review until i contacted booking.com.

Sadly we didn't have good weather which is definitely not their fault, however the tents are a bit dated and had one tent leaking (and it rained most of the night), and got very cold in the night. We do understand the weather is not in the control and had the weather been great it would've been fine but we still decided to go despite the weather and expected the facilities and blankets/sleeping arrangement provided to also be ok given we were not asked to reschedule or cancel the camping.

Lovely host, super friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful the whole time. Dinner and breakfast were really good (best breakfast we've had in Sri Lanka!!), and the whole family also spoke really good English (the best we have seen in our whole trip). the views were still amazing despite not having good weather.
