It’s a beautiful building in calm surroundings. The rooms are lovely, the food is fantastic and you couldn’t ask for more friendly, helpful staff.

It didn't bother us at all, but due to the make-up of the hotel, you can hear a lot from other rooms that are above/below you.

Our room with a balcony was beautiful! Very clean and unique to other places we had stayed in Sri Lanka. Great location to the main beach and shopping area with great restaurants. Staff were great.

This place is beautiful! The location is perfect, the rooms are insane and the owners are so lovely! It’s right on the Main Street of restaurants and shops but honestly feels like you are miles away in a jungle! It’s peaceful and serene! Honestly can’t rave about this property enough!

Bring face mask as the room was bright in the morning. There were also some insects but that is to be expected since parts of the rooms are semi-open, at least our bathroom was.

We had a wonderful stay at Dunes. They gave us a free room upgrade since a better room was available and some renovations were being done at the property. They have a very nice garden where monkeys sometimes visit. Food was excellent and location is great with only few minutes walk to the beach. The staff was very helpful in arranging transportation and trip to national parks. Very happy with our stay.

You can typically hear everything outside the room because of how the property is built but earplugs are provided and work wonders!

Such a beautiful oasis in the middle of Unawatuna. Easy access to beach, restaurants, shops etc. while still feeling secluded and private. Beautiful rooms and shared spaces!

Unfortunately it was very loud from the beach and what seemed like concerts and parties. We are not sure if it's only due to the New Years celebrations or the norm. It was just a shame with the calmness of the hotel. Not a hotel critique at all.

I loved the atmosphere and the vibe from this hotel. Even though it’s in a touristy area you felt connected with nature which I loved. The rooms were lovely, and the bed was super comfy! My favourite thing was sitting on the balcony in the morning with tea/coffee which is provided and watching the monkeys in the trees All the staff were amazing and made the stay great. I really hope to come back here in the future!

Sadly Unawatuna is now brash, busy and noisy. Not the hotels fault of course!

This is a fabulous atmospheric hotel set in some truly beautiful gardens. Excellent for spotting wildlife and birds ( monkeys, snakes, peacocks, kingfishers) from the balcony. Mornings were special just observing. The staff were friendly and attentive. Breakfasts were great and filling.

As soon as you leave it’s bedlam! Fighting the mad traffic in the narrow lane to the beach.

A wonderful oasis of tranquility. The beautiful kingfisher who was often to be seen perched above the pond. The only place in Sri Lanka I heard good music playing! (Quiet, mellow, cool stuff). Excellent food, coffee, staff. The only place in Sri Lanka I found where the toast, bread and jam actually provided pleasure as well as calories.

Absolutely loved our stay at Dunes, it's everything we needed in Galle/Unawatuna, despite not having a pool the beach is literally down the road so you don't even need the pool. The hotel is in the middle of everything and yet it is very quiet away from the main road. I absolutely loved staying here and wished I could stay longer. We opted for breakfast in the hotel in the morning and it was so entertaining to watch monkeys play in the trees and listening to birds chirping was my favourite part of the day. The room was big and spacious also

The creeky floors when we walk on the wooden floor.

Great location. Rooms are really nice. only problem is they have a wooden floor. So when someone walks on upstairs you hear it. Love the room set up.
