The owner was super attention and warm welcoming person. I had injured and he took care of my problems quickly within i didn't say anything. He dropped me on check-in time and he dropped me off on check-out time. Seriously i liked this warm attention. Also the room was well-equipment and big enough. And AC works good.

Priya’s property at Tissa was amazing. Comfort, cleanliness, nature, proximity to the nearby lake. Everything was perfect. Priya is a very educated host and a nature lover. He took us to the lake for birdwatching. He explained us everything about the animal species living there. He even took us to Tissa with his own Tuk Tuk to a cafe we had spotted. We were lucky to enjoy a full moon night from the balcony. We went on an early morning safari the next day and he had prepared take away breakfast for us. He also arranged our laundry. To sum up he did everything to make this experience magical. Our accommodation had the unique character of a local home. It was like it was personalised. Thank you Priya! Looking forward to coming again!

The owner of the guesthouse is very warm-hearted and trustworthy. On the first day of our stay, he took us on a free bird-watching tour, and we also saw bats and crocodiles. He was very professional! He helped with everything, making us feel completely at ease. Since we only had half a day for the safari and returned early, he took us for an owl and bird-watching trip at noon. The safari driver arranged by our private driver wasn't very good, and we saw nothing on two trips. In the end, because we really wanted to see a leopard, we returned from Mirissa and joined the safari the next day. The driver the owner arranged was highly professional and shared a lot of expert knowledge with us. The owner even joined us, which really made us feel safe and reassured. Highly recommended!

We really enjoyed our stay there. We slept there just one night. The room was very clean and the owner was so helpful. He brought us to see birds, bats and crocodiles and was a really nice experience, we liked it even more than the safari wich we did with another company. Also they prepared for us a delicious breakfast take away for the safari!

The owner of the hotel was incredibly kind and helpful. He arranged our transportation and even took us to see crocodiles and bats on our first day, which was such a unique experience. He also organized our safari tour, and it was absolutely perfect! The hotel itself was also very clean and comfortable.

The most helpful hosts we've had so far in Sri Lanka! Priya helped us organize our trip even before and after our stay, as well as the Yala Safari. His wife brought us coconut water upon our arrival and cooked delicious meals. No need to eat outside. We definitely recommend 200%!

We had an amazing stay at this homestay in Tissamaharama! Priya, the owner, went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and cared for. He took us on a lovely tuktuk ride around the lake, where we saw a wide variety of beautiful birds — such a peaceful and unique experience. We also booked a safari through Yala National Park with him, and it was absolutely unforgettable. Everything was perfectly arranged, and we were the only group that day lucky enough to see a leopard — a real once-in-a-lifetime moment! Priya also drove us to town when we wanted to grab dinner and even picked us up afterward, which was incredibly thoughtful. On our departure day, he personally brought us to the bus station and made sure we got on the right bus to Ella — such a kind gesture that made traveling stress-free. The room was big and the AC was great. Bed was comfy. Bathroom great too. Everything was clean. Breakfast was really good. Dinner too, just took a little longer but that's totally fine. Comfortable stay, warm hospitality, and incredible value for money. Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful stay while in Tissa to do a safari - Priya was so friendly and helpful. We booked our safari through him and our guide was great. The room was lovely, clean and spacious. The dinner and breakfast Priya and his wife made for us was also amazing, would highly recommend. We particularly enjoyed the tour around the lake looking at the wildlife there that Priya gave us the evening we arrived. Couldn’t recommend more.

Room and en-suite were clean and had a mosquito net which was very helpful given the location. Priya was a lovely host and even took us on a mini safari himself around the local lake to see crocs and birds etc. When we got home his family cooked us a lovely chicken curry for a little additional fee. Lovely place to stay for cheap if you are doing the safari.

Such a fabulous place to stay in Tissa pre/ post safari. We were there two nights and it was comfortable, clean and really welcoming. We had excellent support from the hosts when it came to booking the best safari option for us and enjoyed the breakfast, dinner and drinks on offer at the accommodation (for a small additional fee).

Would recommend this place to anyone wanting to go on the Yala safari. Priyah was an excellent host and couldn’t have done enough for us. He collected us from bus stop, took us back to bus station when we were moving on and made sure we got on the bus ok. He took us out the night before our safari to see the local wildlife, crocodiles, birds, bats it was amazing. He also helped us with booking the Yala safari and we thought this was at such a reasonable price, much cheaper than we had seen online! Safari in itself was amazing. Rooms were immaculate. We cannot recommend this place enough - 10/10 thank you so much for the most amazing stay!!

It’s slightly out of town, but not too far. You can walk or find a Tuktuk easily. The owner will also pick you up and drop you off from the bus station.

Very nice staff and property. Having the hotel be able to book a safari for you is fantastic. According the bus station attendant in Thissa, route 10 buses leave at 7am and 8:10am from Thissa to Ella. The full bus route is from Katharagama to Kandy, which is shown on the bus signage along with its route number. The bus from Thissa to Ella costs 467 Sri Lankan rupees (about usd$1.58 at the time of this post)

Breakfast was excellent and generous – we looked forward to it every morning(stayed 2 nights). The host provided a safari for us, which was very well organized and of excellent quality. He also took us on an evening drive around the lakes and birdwatching, which was a beautiful and memorable experience. He was very friendly, helpful, and always ready with great advice. The room was very clean, spacious and comfortable. It was so nice to have a HOT shower! The hosts go out of their way to make your stay special. Priya’s wife knocked for us when the parrot comes in for a snack which was brilliant to watch. Priya met us after he finished work and still offered to take us to the lake to watch the bats, look for crocodiles and birds. It was great. We went back the next day to see them in the daytime. Their safari was good. They provided us with breakfast for our half-day option and they provide more if you select full day option. They also gave us tea/coffee before we set off. The price was very competitive, one of the best we had seen and was very happy with what we paid.

We had one of our best stays of our whole trip in Sri Lanka here. The owner was so kind and helpful. He drove us around to see birds and bats in the local area, which is a protected wildlife park. He even drove us into town to get food and offered to take us to the bus station on our last day. The room we stayed in was clean and spacious, with AC. The breakfast was delicious. We booked our Yala safari through the hotel, and this was awesome. If you're coming to Tissamaharama for the safari (or not), I definitely recommend staying here!
