Very comfortable, clean room with river view. It’s located a bit outside the city, which was good for us because it was quieter than inside the city. The breakfast was amazing and the host Nirosh supported us in every belonging we had. He also went with us to his own gym, which we could use, 200 metres away from the accommodation. All in all we would highly recommend a stay at Niroshs and we will definitely come back.

All good. Wifi was a bit spotty in my room at times but had excellent signal strength in the guest living room area.

Nirosh, the owner’s son, was a great host, wanting to help with anything. The house and room is very clean, modern, and very well equipped. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was large and very modern with plenty of hot water and good water pressure. The reality looked even better than the pictures! The veranda in the back looks out onto fields and the Mahaveli River - very beautiful. Good breakfast and when I said I had a long train journey, they gave me a simple packed lunch for free. 25 minutes by tuk to Kandy and 10 minutes to Peradeniya.

The room was comfortable and Nirosh went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable. It's such a quite location and so beautiful. The breakfast is always good and plenty of leftovers. They do their best to be environmentally conscious and ot shows. The view of river is nice.

Leaving and going to Ella... the train journey is truly beautiful, but Ella itself is a tourist trap, which i couldn't get out of quick enough...

What can I say about my stay with this truly amazing and beautiful family... I came for the Kandy Esala Perehala Festival and was absolutely blown away by their kindness and generosity... they arranged excellent tickets for me and all my travels into Kandy via tuk tuk whenever I needed it. Dummie also did me the great honour of travelling with me to Sigiriya Mountain and Dambulla Cave Temples... and his son Nirosh also invited me to train at the local gym where i was made to feel extremely welcome by all those not only in the gym but within the village community.The location is truly amazing with a hidden and almost unknown cave temple just a few steep steps away with some truly wonderful paintings.... it is tranquillity itself. I was extremely sad to leave, but I also know that I am coming back to complete the pilgrimage and a silent retreat next year... By the end of my stay 9 days, we were just like family, and I can not recommend Deer Hill Rest enough...

A gorgeous property with the most incredible view of the river! Nirosh and his family were so welcoming and helpful, they helped us arrange transport and gave us good advice about what to do in Kandy. The daily breakfast was delicious! We would love to stay again. If you’re thinking about booking Deer Hill Rest - just do it!

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The environment was peaceful, clean, and very welcoming — truly a pleasure to be in. The staff went above and beyond to provide friendly, attentive service throughout my visit. From check-in to check-out, everything was smooth and stress-free. We loved everything about this place! We were only sad we couldn't stay longer. Deer Hill is run by such a welcoming and kind family who were the highlight of our stay. They prepared an exceptional breakfast and dinner for us each day and saw to our every need. They even arranged a van for us to go to Pidarungala Rock and drove us there as a family! 🥹 The rooms and living area at Deer Hill are spacious and comfortable, and the view from the balcony was just lovely. The place is located in such a beautiful environment close to nature, without being too far from the city. It's perfect! I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Kandy 🩵

Very friendly people, and beautiful location/room. The family makes you feel welcome and the garden view is amazing. We were even welcome at a little celebration that was going on and organized by the father of the family. We had a great time with him and his friends. Enjoy your stay I would say.

Nothing it was great.

The property is incredible, an oasis behind the from gates. The view to the river is so good and a great place to enjoy their coffee which is delicious. Beds are very comfortable as well.

In the room you could hear the noice on the street. With earplugs it was fine for sleeping.

Very spacious, a high roof. A big open living room. Nice Breakfast: fruit, yoghurt, eggs, toast, sausages. A friendly family. Comfortable bed (a bit noisy). We could use the gym which is a couple of minutes up the road. It was a bit difficult to find as there is no sign. Google maps shows the exact location. And the owner was showing us the way. Although the location is in the border of Kandy, the area is not so busy and you have a nice jungle and river view.

Best accommodation so far in Sri Lanka! Warm hosts that made us feel like family! We weren't welcomed like this in none of our travels...and we travel a lot :). Great views from the terrace... with birds and squirrels. Totally recommend! Lots of hugs and hope to come back!

The service was superb. Ms Indra made a wonderful breakfast for us, with tasty coconut roti and dhal to make me feel at home. Also, accommodating my husband who was very happy with eggs and sausage for breakfast. Everyone was so helpful with organising busses and information. Thank you.

Fantastic breakfast every day, Damika, Indra and Nirosh very exceptionally friendly and embraced our free-spirited children ;) Spectacular view from the terrace (you really can see deer). Nirosh took us down to the river and showed us how to catch fish and crabs, which the kids really enjoyed. Also, Peradeniya is a very nice area of Kandy.

The lovely family running the hotel provided the hospitality and attention that is rare to get even in top 5 star hotels. The food, room, and cleanliness it were all perfect. I will definitely visit again when I am around.
