Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Cozy Heaven is a short tuk tuk ride from the centre of Nuwara Eliya, making it the perfect base for exploring this area. We arrived by train and our host, Sanjaya, met us at the station and took us to Cozy Heaven. At the moment, there is only one guest room which has a very comfortable large double bed. The ensuite bathroom has everything you need with plenty of hot water in the shower. It has a large balcony with a panoramic view of the mountains and Lovers' Leap waterfall is clearly visible. The whole family helped to make our stay as comfortable as possible and provided us with a wonderful and tasty breakfast. We decided to take our evening meal with the family and had a very delicious and plentiful meal with a selection of curries with rice followed by a dessert of curd and honey. The family speak fluent English and we really enjoyed our conversations with Shaveendi and Shaveen. We stayed for one night to break up the train journey, but there is so much to see in the area, we could have easily spent two days there. Nuwara Eliya get really cold at night, but we were cosy and comfortable, as warm blankets were provided. This is a very quaint and charming accommodation.

NetherlandsThe family made us feel very welcome. They picked us up from the train station and gave us a lot of information about Nuwara Eliya. Dinner was lovely and their son told us a lot about Sri Lanka which was very nice. Overall the stay was pleasant and lovely. We had some troubles with our train tickets and the owner helped us get new tickets. They are really lovely! Would definitely recommend.

A wonderful room in a home stay with an amazing view of the mountains and lovers leap waterfall from a balcony. We only stayed for one night but the family are very lovely and hospitable and made us feel right at home. They cooked us a lovely dinner after a long my day of travelling and exploring. Added bonus that they provided a tour around tea plantations, to a nearby waterfall and around the town for an affordable price and also picked us up and dropped us off at the train station for a small fee.

The Best Homestay in Nuwara Eliya – A True Local Experience! This family-run homestay gave us the most authentic and heartwarming experience of Sri Lankan hospitality. Our room was spotlessly clean and cozy, with an absolutely charming flower-filled balcony that made sunrise magical. Our host, Sanjaya, went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. He was so welcoming and caring, taking us to a gems shop and patiently waiting while we explored, helping us find perfect jackets, bringing us to amazing local restaurants, and showing us around Nuwara Eliya. The next morning after serving us a delicious homemade breakfast, he kindly drove us to the train station himself. What makes this place truly special is how the whole family makes you feel at home. If you want more than just accommodation but a genuine cultural experience with the kindest hosts, don't look further. Our highest recommendation! ✨

GermanyThe bathroom smelled a bit moldy, but otherwise everything else was nice!
We had such a great stay at Cozy Heaven, we had our own little room with bathroom and hot water! A little balcony with a nice view above some tea plantation. The best thing was however the family who made our stay the best! The whole family helped us with everything, the Mum cooked us some really great Rice and Curry, one of the best we had, and prepared every day great breakfast as well! The daughter is so sweet and speaks such a good English and could translate everything and helped us with everything we would’ve needed! We also had a great 3 hour walk through the tea plantations with the son who was so kind and knew a lot about the fields, and the dad drove us to another tea factory and even to the train station! These are such wonderful hosts!

HungaryWifi was disconnecting a lot. But that day internet was down in the entire area so I think it was not their fault.
It’s the best place to stay in Nawara Eliya. You got to experience local family life very closely. The family that runs this business is so accommodating and caring. The room was super clean. The balcony was adorable. I love flowers and it was full of them, so the sunset and sunrise views are lovely from here.

United KingdomNothing. It exceeded my expectations. I wish I could have stayed for longer, and I encourage anyone visiting to Nuwara Eliya to book this home stay. 😊
My stay here was nothing short of wonderful. The room was absolutely beautiful — cosy, with a super comfortable bed, great shower, and breathtaking views of Nuwara Eliya and a waterfall. It felt peaceful and homely in the best way. What truly stood out was the lovely family. The children were warm, kind, and impressively professional — they went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable and felt welcome. Their thoughtfulness and genuine care really touched me. The food, cooked by the mother, was absolutely delicious — full of flavor and love. Though I didn’t have time for the hike, I wish I had — it looked amazing and I’d love to come back just for that. The father was a fantastic guide, full of insight and stories about the region. His tour of the tea plantation and factory was one of the highlights of my stay — I’d highly recommend it to anyone visiting. A truly special place, made even more memorable by the warmth of the people. I’d return in a heartbeat.

United KingdomThe family are really lovely and we felt very welcome. We enjoyed the view from the balcony and the bed was comfy and cozy. We enjoyed the hike, it was very informative with extremely good company, although it was more than we have paid for similar experiences ($20 per person). This was also the case for the tea factory tour we took the next day (it was $20 when the entrance to the factory is free so basically an expensive taxi service). If you’re looking to be very well looked after this is a great choice however not a budget stay.

NetherlandsNothing, miss the food already!
If you’re doubting on whether you should stay here then this is your sign to do it! We absolutely think this is the kind of homestay experience that makes traveling worthwhile. We felt taken care of from the moment we arrived at Nanu Oya station (where the host waited for us with a cute name sign and his car to bring us) till the end when the owner dropped us of at te station. The owner is a wonderful tourguide as well, we went for a beautiful hike in the tea fields, his wife and daughter served us delicious food (really!) and our last minute laundry request was also no problem. They do everything to make you feel welcome. One of our highlights whilst traveling Sri Lanka. Go for it! Food was stellar!
