How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Nothing to complain.
I was warmly welcomed from the very first moment. Chinthaka and his family are incredibly friendly, kind, always smiling and the best host you can ever imagine. The place itself was lovely, but the care and warmth I experienced made it truly special. I was invited for breakfast on Sinhalese New Year and they also gave me different types of fruits several times. The location is very quiet and calm surrounded by the forest, a lake and with the sounds of different types of animals. The room is very spacious with a lot of brigth with views to a beautiful garden. All is very new and with a private kitchen including washmachine. Thank you Chinthaka and your family for your hospitality and kindness. I truly recommend this place.

We appreciated to have the house for ourselves with a very nice terrasse and garden. It’s situated in a nice and quiet area but not far from the town where you can easily walk to. The owners are living nearby and are very caring.

Flies in the morning were annoying
Pleasant staying in a very peaceful environment!!!! The host family was extremely friendly and helped us to fix the problem with the car. Location is away from the main noisy road and is very comfortable for a family stay 😊 welcome and farewell drinks were 😊😊😊

Perfect stay, everything is very clean. Very friendly family. Delicious typical Sri Lankan breakfasts. Unbeatable price quality, we were only two days but I would not hesitate to stay here again. They also offered us a walk along the fantastic lake. We woke up with the sounds of the jungle and squirrels around.

We had a wonderful experience staying in Mirissa. The host was incredibly kind, always ready to assist with any needs. The apartment itself was cozy, clean, without air condition but there were fans in bedrooms. The location was perfect for us, quite close to the beach (10-15min). Thank you for a fantastic stay!

All was super!
Very nice cozy property in super quite place. You are pretty much on your own with the nature. Host is located in next building. He was helping all the time with all the question. He was very kind to provide us some gifts like homemade food and bananas. I can say for 100% - Myself and my family felt like at home there. Also last day we took a boat safari tour from the host. I can highly recommend it!

There was construction site on the backyard(just 3 meters from the back door) belongs to the same owner so we needed to be out all the time. The echo made it even worse. I don’t really understand why would they did it having guests. People comes for vacation. Even when we asked to stop it they said okay and in 15 minutes started to do it again.
