The only minor complaints were that the room could have done with extra door handles on the inside of the bathroom and main door, as it was difficult to open/close them using just the small lock to hold on to. Also a small reading light next to the bed would help to avoid having to get up to turn off the big light at night. But otherwise everything else was great!

Wonderful views from the room & terrace outside, the room was comfortable and spacious, and we slept well. It was only a short walk or tuk tuk ride back from the centre of Ella, but the Chamodya was far more relaxing. The staff were very helpful and they prepared a very tasty breakfast.

Hosts were so sweet and always prepared. The serves breakfast was delicious and the location is 7 minutes to the main city. The view from the balcony is breathtaking and you are a short drive to hiking little Adams peak as well.

20 minutes by walk from the city center. But completely worth it if you’re looking for a quiet place with a stunning view on Ella’s mountains. That’s something that you can’t easily have if you’re located in the busy center :)

WiFi can be a bit slow at times, and getting to the property requires a 10–15 minute uphill walk from the center—but the stunning view at the top makes it totally worth it. The houses are designed with open vents for natural airflow; as long as you're mindful with the mosquito nets, it's easy to keep mosquitoes, bugs, lizards, and other critters out.

My stay at this place was truly unforgettable! Perched on the hills of Ella with a jaw-dropping view over the valley and a nearby waterfall, this hotel was wonderful, and waking up to that panorama every morning was pure magic. The homemade breakfast was exceptional (hearty Sri Lankan favorites like egg hoppers, coconut pancakes, fresh fruit, and local specialties) all served on the terrace with that incredible backdrop. My room was clean, comfortable, and the balcony was the perfect peaceful retreat. The family-like hosts were warm, attentive, and made me feel completely at home from day one. If you're searching for a serene escape with stunning views and delicious home-cooked breakfasts, Chamodya is an absolute gem.

Solar powered water heater only works well if you are the only guest at this 5-room property.

Woke up before daybreak and just listen to the sounds of nature. Walk along the railway track to the centre of town, a unique experience. Homemade egg hoppers that need at least 2 hours to be freshly made. Exhilarating tuk tuk ride to and from this lovely place. Swapped inconsequential life stories with our hostess as we learn more about each other’s life experiences.

The most amazing homestay in Sri Lanka! We spent 5 nights here (extended our stay). The location is perfect - about a 10 min walk into town along the tracks. The view is amazing overlooking Ella rock and extremely peaceful. The room is spacious and clean - the bathroom is basic but clean and has hot water for those colder nights in Ella. The family that run the accommodation are very kind and also serve an excellent breakfast. I hope to return one day!

The view! The room was on -1 level and had a perfect view at the mountains. Imagine sitting there and sipping freshly squeezed juice, it was just perfect. It is a family run property and you feel very welcomed there from the moment you enter. Breakfast was really superb, freshly made and with such variety of food and fruits that one person cannot eat it all. The fresh juice is just a cherry on top

The views were absolutely breathtaking! Breakfast is very generous in size and was delicious. Staff all very helpful. Room was very clean. Google Maps will take you on a 20/25 minute walk from the centre of Ella which is very hilly & steep (in both directions!!). Staff advised us there is a shortcut along the railway tracks which means it's 10/15 minutes to the main street. I would recommend making sure you have a torch to navigate either route.

The location was excellent, only a 3 min tuktuk ride to the centre of Ella. A spacious room and ensuite bathroom with huge balcony and spectacular views of the waterfall and mountain. One of our saviours stays in Sri Lanka. From the hosts, to the views to the food... it was all incredible. The Homestay is located up in the Ella hills with incredible views down Ella gap with Ella rock, little Adam's peak and a waterfall to admire. It is easiest accessible by the rail track which we found made it such an experimental stay, walking along the train track in to centre of Ella. This only takes 5 or so minutes. It is also accessible by road but some cars may struggle. We contacted and a tuk tuk was sent to meet us at the main road to collect our baggage. This was such a kind gesture. The breakfast is incredible.. make sure you try the Sri Lankan breakfast, so fresh and so many courses. Thank you so much for our stay and we really do hope to come back 🙏🏽

Large room with a beautiful view from the balcony. Such a lovely family who were incredibly helpful. Fantastic breakfast and great coffee. Good location and a very easy walk to town along the railway line. We could also walk to little adam’s peak and nine arches bridge from the property. Great restaurant by the railway called The Clay Pot.

Very nice atmosphere, hospitality and location. Basically from the welcoming we like it. Nice stuff, helpful and polite. They served us a coffee once we arrived. We could pay the next day. And they served us really tasty breakfast. Simple but really nice. We could leave our baggage after check out. Room was clean. And from balcony you have amazing view!
