I was ill during the whole stay so we only used room service which was excellent, as was the room which was huge with wonderful bed, a lounge area with tv and a balcony, so the best place to be ill! A short walk to the beach. A lovely swimming pool and attractive grounds. A quieter more authentic hotel than the upmarket western hotel up the road. I am looking forward to going again when I am in full health to fully appreciate everything the hotel and the area has to offer.

The WiFi wasn't very good and we often struggled to connect. A curtain in front of the jacuzzi tub window would have also been useful as the net blinds meant the room got very light early. We also found the music played in the outdoor pool area not very relaxing or enjoyable (classical renditions of old pop songs on loop). Although the cocktails were great we weren't very impressed with the restaurant food so chose to eat out after a couple of visits.

We had a wonderful stay at Amaranthe Bay. Our room was beautiful and very clean, with everything we needed including excellent AC, TV, coffee making facilities, sofa area, and lockable safe. The bathroom was large with a good shower, and we particularly loved our jacuzzi tub and balcony area overlooking the pool. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, and helped with anything we needed. The pool area was beautiful and clean, and we loved the cocktails from the bar. We also enjoyed having massages at the spa. The hotel was a short walk to Trincomalee beach and great local restaurants.

While the price is higher compared tot many other accommodations in Sri Lanka, it's worth noting that there are relatively few upscale options in the Trincomalee area.

Amaranthe is a peaceful and quiet complex with a nice pool and a small-scale restaurant. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing. the staff were very friendly and welcoming. All in all, a pleasant and comfortable stay.

I didn't like the bathroom inside the room, not matching with the rest of the room.

It's a little inconvenient to get to as it's not on the beach or the main road. We also were a bit surprised to find breakfast not included and an additional cost.

The staff are amazing here as they are so attentive and friendly. They made sure everything was looked after and were available to help with anything. The rooms are absolutely stunning, they look out onto the lake so you wake up to a stunning view.

In total we wouldn’t say that this is a five star. The hotel looks older from some sides and the lobby with the reception and the restaurant seem old and cold. The breakfast was bad in our eyes. The prices for food and drinks are high in relation to other hotels. For food we went to all the local restaurants in Trinco.

It’s a good spot for a short time relaxing in Trinco. The location is good, just some minutes walk to the beach and the centre. The pool is nice.

The build itself . Plugs and switches in the wrong place. Things just don’t flow. I felt I was walking around looking for things whereas usually in hotels things have a flow.

Amazing hotel with a real tranquil atmosphere, the view from our room was spectacular. We really enjoyed the location just a short walk to the beach where there is plenty of restaurants shops etc. All the staff both within the hotel and surrounding establishments were super friendly and accommodating. This was a real steal a small slice of paradise and would definitely re-visit.

The prices at the restaurant are very high compared with other restaurants in the area. As it is a resort, that is to be expected. Great places to eat are within walking distance.

Beautiful room with helpful and friendly staff. The pool area was lovely. You can hire bicycles to get around. Would love to visit again.

Beautiful pool and views over the lagoon. Very comfortable and spacious bedroom - we got upgraded to a junior suite with an amazing jacuzzi bath. Breakfast was great and the poolside staff were very helpful. Great location - only a few minutes walk from the beach and restaurants. Would definitely recommend!

No direct access to beach. Need more variety for buffet breakfast. Al carte menu items are reasonably priced however the final price is much more with taxes added. At times automated power panels in the room is very confusing.

Free upgrade to Junior Suite with private Jacuzzi. Nice, spacious and clean room with good room facilities. Jacuzzi is very inviting to relax. Leafy surroundings and lake view. Very friendly staff. Al carte breakfast menu had varieties for a Western & SriLankan menu. Good location with eating places nearby.

What a lovely place to stay. The staff is extremely friendly, they will do everything to make sure you have a good time in their resort. The pool is great with a view of the sunset over the lagoon. We've got a free upgrade to a huge room with hottub because it wasn't bussy in the Resort. We definitely recommend this place.

Lovely setting, great spacious room with amazing lagoon view, exceptionally helpful staff at reception, the restaurant and housekeeping- couldn’t fault their responsiveness. Food in the restaurant was very good, we ate from the a la carte menu - my partner had the Sri Lankan fish curry with assorted accompaniments - it was a feast!
