A relaxing stay at Blue Surf View – close to nature and full of charm We had a truly lovely stay at Blue Surf View. The location is perfect – just a few steps from Unakuruwa Beach and only a short walk from the stunning and peaceful Silent Beach, one of the most beautiful spots we visited in the area. Breakfast was a daily highlight, with fresh tropical fruits and delicious local flavors served with care. The atmosphere at the guesthouse is warm, quiet, and welcoming – ideal for relaxing or enjoying the nearby surf. One of the most memorable moments was watching a local climber effortlessly scale the palm trees right in the garden to bring down fresh coconuts, which we then tasted straight from the source. It was such a unique and authentic experience that we’ll never forget. Highly recommended for anyone looking to unwind, connect with nature, and enjoy the laid-back charm of southern Sri Lanka.

The view from our room was extraordinary. The room was immaculate and the service was brilliant. So friendly and welcoming!! The breakfast was delicious and home meade- we were stuffed every morning!! I highly suggest staying here ☺️

Wifi was weak most of the time, „balcony“ is shared with the other room, no housekeeping (stayed 5 nights), only one bathing towel and no hand towel, would be nice to have a kettle and some hangers to hang up clothes inside the room, although it said „does not accept cash“ ONLy cash was accepted

We loved the room, spacious, clean and with all the nice little things that make the difference. Breakfast was not included and no kettle but a fridge, which in the heat of Tangalle was essential. Also shelves outside the bathroom which turned out to be incredibly convenient. We loved the bed and how convenient the room was. Lovely balcony with table and chairs with view over the sea and waking distance to a couple of small but nice beaches. On site parking

There is nothing to be disappointed about.

We enjoyed everything. The facilities, the location, everything. Breakfast was delicious every morning, so many varieties of Sri Lanka style breakfast dishes, absolutely great! Prepared and served by lovely smiling hostess. The warmth of welcoming you by the hosts can’t forget.

This has been our favourite place to stay in Sri Lanka. The area is quiet and local yet still has everything a tourist could need. The view from the Balcony is beautiful and everything was comfortable. The hosts and local neighbours around the area were so welcoming and friendly, making the stay even more enjoyable. There is plenty of options for food around the area. As for beaches - in walking distance there is option of a swim at silent beach ( more waves/rougher water) and also at more calm beaches in the other direction. Note that You will need a tuk tuk into tangalle town area but it’s only a short ride and we only really left the area to use an ATM. Wish we had booked here for longer! ( P.S please say hello to the local very friendly doggies and give them some treats for us)

This was the highlight of our trip! We actually loved it so much that we left for 2 days before changing our plans to come back and stay again. The accommodation itself is brand new, exceptionally clean, very nice bathroom, storage and fridge inside a massive room with AC. Bed and linen were the most comfortable on our trip. Wake up and watch the ocean from your bed or balcony. If a quiet seaside location with small waves, multiple pristine beaches, friendly locals and great restaurants (and good coffee) all in one spot is for you, then don’t miss the opportunity to stay here! Thank you to our amazing hosts for making our stay unforgettable. We will be back, again :)

There’s is nothing to complain about

The property is located only 2min away from the beach. The view from the balcony is astonishing. The room is clean and very big. We ate breakfast at the hotel and were always amazed. It’s really delicious. Dinner we ate at the Wife’s Kitchen Restaurant which we can only recommend (it’s only 3min away)

It might be the time of year (late July), but the small bay was not really suitable for swimming; big winds and steep beach slope resulting in dumping waves. The small rock pool at our end of the bay probably not even good for small children at this time of year. Fairly limited food opportunities in this isolated area when not ‘in season’. Ceylon Chef, around the corner shut the day after we had dinner there ( a great place to eat) until the season starts around December. None of this is really a criticism of the property, more providing info pertaining to selecting a place to stay in the Tangalle area.

While very little English is spoken by Hilda and her husband, they were great hosts and very friendly and helpful. The room (one of only two) was spacious and clean. Nice hot shower and a big balcony to watch the waves rolling in and the world go by. Sri Lankan breakfast was HUGE, albeit marginally more expensive than we expected.

- Stunning view on the ocean from the balcony - Great location (amazing beaches close by: Silent Beach and Paradise beach -> make sure to visit Paradise beach!) - Amazing breakfast (The caring host offers a massive breakfast, The fruit platter was always a highlight of the day) - Spotless clean. We have very high hygenic standards and did not have to worry about anything here. The sheets were clean and smelled very good, just like the towels - Very good facilities (great air condition, fridge, shower) - Good restaurants close by (make sure to go to Wives kitchen and eat the Kottu) We liked it so much that we extended our stay. Thanks again for everything.

We loved everything.

Brand new accomodation with amazing ocean view. Very clean. Family run this homestay was so friendly. We felt very welcomed. They also organise the scooter for us. Very tasty breakfast. Comfy beds. Good shower. Fridge in the room. We stayed one more extra night and we would stay even longer if they are not booked. The best place in Sri Lanka. Very quite and relaxing. Definitely recommend.

The view was amazing, also it was very clean and everything was new. The family is very heartful and nice, we loved our stay with them. The sea at this area is a little raw but just in front of the accommodation is a little sea ‚pool‘ were our kids could go swimming easily (: we recommend booking with breakfast because it is not common in the area to serve breakfast.

Nothing seemed to be open when we went and some restaurants looked abandoned. Not touristy and very local, which isn’t an issue but it was too quiet for such a small bay. No fault of the accommodation, but the dogs in the area barked constantly which made us feel sad as we couldn’t do much to help.

The view from was amazing and so lovely hearing the sound of the ocean. Room was clean, spacious and the WiFi did work. Friendly owners. Over an hour to Udawala National Park

Everything

You know when you book a homestay and you know that the hosts will help you with anything you need? Well here it’s not. The hosts especially the woman were so not nice, she didn’t speak English but I have been traveling Sri Lanka for a month and even the hosts that didn’t dorks English were amazing. She was just not nice, not willing to help, she looked cross all the time.. Breakfast was a scam - dry toast and one (!!!) egg between me and my partner.. and we don’t even eat eggs.. but of course she didn’t bother to ask us as she just didn’t care, some fruits and that’s it - don’t take the breakfast. The room big and empty.. without love or energy like the hosts…the view between the electricity lines was ok. The balcony- isn’t a balcony but the entrance to the room with your neighbors. Look for anther property- there are so many of them..
