As the room had just been built it lacked furniture. It would be nice to have a smaller less intense light (like a bedside lamp) as the only option for lighting was only very bright lights. I would really discourage anyone from going “whale watching” in Trincomalee- the host organised a trip for us but unfortunately it wasn’t whale watching it was dolphin chasing. I had a headache after just a short time because of the amount of boats and the smell of petrol too.

The host was very friendly and helped us out with recommendations. The bed was really comfy and we slept wonderfully!

About a 20 min walk to the main restaurant strip (nothing a 4 min tuk tuk can’t solve) upon arrival the owner was very nice and showed us to our room immediately despite being super busy but then unfortunately he asked to see my booking on my phone, I handed him my phone and he held it for a couple of minutes, my partner and I didn’t know why. About half an hour later when we asked to pay, he asked me if I had requested to change the dates of our stay on booking.com from 3 nights to just 1 night to which we said no we hadn’t? What he probably didn’t realise is that booking.com sends you an email once you make a request like this. The email came through at the time he had my phone in his hands. We don’t care about this/ his reasons for doing this money wise but would have appreciated some honesty and not being asked why we did this even though it was obviously him. He was quite pushy in offering us tours including dolphin watching and warned us of the dangers of going with somebody on the beach. He constantly asked us about whether we wanted to book a tour even on the last day. He was a really nice man but just needs to be less forward.

The room was just as expected from the description and photos. It’s just a 5-minute walk from the beach, which is super convenient. The host also runs a restaurant a few streets away with great food and excellent value for money.

A bedside reading lamp would have been good. Also, somewhere to wash the sand off your feet before you enter your room.

Excellent location, just a few hundred metres to the beach and also a range of cafes and convenience stores. Clean, comfortable room. Lovely quiet fan. The owner is really helpful. Bicycle hire available at a reasonable rate. Overall, good value for money.

The beach bar as advertised in the photos is not part of the hotel. The bar is around a 25 minute walk along the beach, though there are other beach bars/sunbeds which are closer. On arrival, there were builders working at the property but they soon stopped once we checked in. There was a very loud generator noise which sounded frequently. We suspected this came on whenever water was being used in the hotel. The noise was quite disruptive of our sleep.

The room was clean with a brand new air con machine. The hotel was close to the station via tuk tuk and only a short walk to the beach.

Water pump was a little noisy in night, but talking with the manager sorted this. Building extension work on the property is currently happening, but was paused during stay.

Room was good, location close to the sea, organised a scooter for us.

Spacious, quiet and clean room, comfy big bed for a fair price, close to the beach, and near a beautiful Hindu temple. Very nice welcome from Bashi who was managing the place, very helpful and nice guy, He owns the restaurant LaBashi just near, so very easy for breakfast, lunch or dinner, fantastic food on a nice rooftop. Good tuktuk service also. Thank you so much 🙏

Wi-Fi did not work (everyone confirmed it did not work). The host appositely overbooks the rooms in order to change the room type (sometimes in other his structures) so sometimes the room is not the one you paid for. Same host is eager to sell you any kind of activities and rarely they are as promised (please confront other options just to be sure the price is correct or if there are any better options).

Very good location about 5 minutes from the beach. The owner was very helpful, he owns a few apartments and a nice restaurant called La Bashi which was well priced and served good food. It opened early which was great to beat the heat. He let us early check in for no additional price into a different accommodation which was very kind. Thought this accommodation was not as nice with some marks on the walls and poor water pressure with a cold shower, we were very grateful for the help. Sanju hotel is a very budget accommodation so you pay for what you get. He was also really helpful in arranging tours and tuk tuks so overall would recommend his apartment and assistance.

Wifi could be better and also a fan or two in the outdoor area because it gets really hot during the day.

The location is great, super close to the beach. The room was big enough, clean and comfortable. Loved the little patio where you can sit to have your breakfast or dinner. There is shared kitchen where you can prepare tea with a fridge to keep food/drinks. Sanju and his team will do their best to provide anything you need. Initially I booked 1 night and ended up staying for more than 2 weeks!

WiFi was really not reliable, and not their fault, but maybe because it is off-season, the nearby beach is extremely dirty.

For its price range, it is a nice bedroom, with running hot water in the shower, and a very nice terrace with chairs and tables.

It is not straight forward to find food and supplies in the area but after a few days it becomes easier. Overpriced restaurants due to tourism, but local food is available if one looks for that.

The room was clean, owner helpful, place a short walk to a beach, shower was great. Cute cats and dogs around.
