Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The bedroom was lovely, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was huge. There was a great balcony, from which we could see the pool. The staff were helpful and very respectful and we enjoyed the breakfast. Short walk from the beach and with a great pool too.

NetherlandsSmall things: The hotel doesn't have it's own bar / cocktails / food. This is easily solved by the wine shop (sells all kinds of drinks) on the corner. There are also plenty of restaurants and shops close by. The bed was a bit hard for our liking. The open air shower got sauna-like due to it not being airconditioned (of course). Stepping stones in the open air shower are a bit rough on delicate feet.
Loved it! Wished we booked a longer stay. Galle and Unawatuna are busy places but this hotel is a piece of paradise on walking (or tuktuk) distance. We stayed 2 nights in low season, it felt like we had a villa to ourselves. Pool is small but adequate and beautiful. Breakfast was delicious with fresh fruit and smoothie. The monkeys (langurs) visited and waited politely until the personnel gave them a piece of toast. Service was good. English was a bit broken but in the end we got everything we needed. The room was beautiful and with good air conditioning. The open-air shower was very beautiful and with good water pressure. The room and balcony are very large (we had the one with double bed + single bed). Everything is very clean! Because it is in a jungle, some nature is to be expected. In the room we had no mosquitos but did encounter a small gecko at one point. Animal sounds outside can be heard and insects outside are common.

United KingdomThere is a pool however it looks more suitable for a quick dip than actual swimming due to size and position. But it's handy to have on very hot days. The wifi was a bit spotty.
Nice little hotel within walking distance of the beach and a tuk tuk ride away from the town when you cannot make it back via the beach, e.g. after dinner. It is nicely designed with a tropical vibe to it, with a nice little garden where you can spot some wildlife at times. I loved the tropical bathroom in the triple room, and the balcony with a view of the plants and the monkeys if and when they pay a visit! Breakfast is fixed - i.e. there isn't a menu to choose from - typically toast, eggs, fresh juice, fruit platter, coffee or tea plus an additional item they change everyday like pancakes or porridge. If we had stayed longer it might have turned out a bit repetitive but for 3 days it was just fine and quite filling. As we had a very late flight they let us use the common shower and leave our bags. Overall it was a very good experience. Shampoo and shower gel are provided as well as a hair drier but no other bathroom amenities. Towels get changed and the room cleaned, overall cleanliness was better than in other properties we have stayed. I would definitely recommend it.

United KingdomIt didn’t feel like a hotel as there was no bar, restaurant, lounge area or reception but this did not bother us as it felt more intimate.
The decor was lovely, one of the best we’ve had in Sri Lanka. The nature around the hotel was incredible, in our two night stay we saw Monkeys (super cute and friendly) , a Monitor Lizard, Ghecko’s many birds and chipmunks. Was so lovely to lie by the pool amongst all the nature knowing you’re only a small distance to the hustle and bustle. The breakfasts were exceptionally good (my favourite all trip) - they gave you lots and changes each day.

Amazing service, beautiful hotel. Allowed me to check in early. Nothing was too small a problem. Hotel is beautiful and the pool was so relaxing. Only minor issue is you've got to walk a little to find dinners but there are several places close by or you can walk 20mins into main town.

RussiaWe lived in Aurora for 9 days and it was so pleasurable! The location is good, it is 15 minutes by foot to go to central Unawatuna Beach, by Tuk Tuk 7 minutes. The hotel is like in Jungle: so green and lush. A lot of monkeys, they are not aggressive, but always looking inside your window and jumping on trees. There were nice chipmunks, varan and peacock also. The room was spacious, air conditioner worked properly, we had a teapot in our room, and some teabags and coffee also. There were some mosquitos inside, when we opened the door to balcony. But we had repellent, so it wasn’t a problem. Especially I would like to thank manager Niro and all the staff, they we very helpful and attentive. At first, we arrived from the airport at 06.00 a.m., the staff was prepairing the hotel territory for a new day: cleaning and cooking breakfast. They offered us coffee and checked us into our room before check-in time. We were very grateful for that. If we needed to clean room and change towels/bedsheet - we asked for it during the breakfast time and leaved the key. Breakfasts were rich and varied, always fresh and tasty. We also asked for lunch-boxes, when had to go to trip to Ella, the chef cooked at night(!) fresh sandwiches and fruits. One breakfast was like buffet style with Sri Lankian traditional food.

United KingdomA great hotel, tucked off the main road a short Tuktuk ride or walk from the main drag of Unawatuna. Only a hundred meters or so from the road but feels like you’re in the middle of the jungle. Rooms are lovely and are comfortable with the “outdoor” bathrooms a highlight. Staff are great - very helpful and friendly. Lots of nature all around - monkeys, squirrels, birds, monitor lizards and even a mongoose roaming around the property (none of which were a bother and don’t come too close). A great hotel and highly recommended

GreeceAurora is amazing! I quite enjoyed my stay there. I would wake up in the morning and be greeted by a great breakfast and some sweet monkeys (which I was very excited about). The staff was friendly and accommodated our late-night check-in. The shower was definitely one of the highlights of the room. In terms of location, Aurora is very central, just outside the main street so that you can enjoy a peaceful stay. Would highly recommend it :)
