We had a wonderful stay at the Astral Zone Cottage! The location is very private and peaceful, perfect for relaxing. The owner was incredibly friendly, helpful, and accommodating — he even warned us in advance about taxi drivers in the area who overcharge tourists, which we really appreciated. His attentiveness made us feel well taken care of throughout our stay. We would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet getaway with excellent hospitality!

Some people may find it from the town and the action but for us it was perfect and we appreciated the calm.

The absolutely perfect place for couples! High above the bustle of town, this stand-alone cottage with a private patio set in a lush garden is a mountain oasis. A/c is not needed due to the elevation and fans both inside and outside. Although a solid 30 minute walk from town its worth the peace and quiet and the walk is easy mitigated by renting a scooter (which I strongly suggest) or, if you are uncomfortable with a scooter the host can arrange a prompt and inexpensive tuk tuk. The breakfast is delicious and varied and the host is super responsive and gracious. A bonus is one can start the hike to Ella Rock from the doorstep of the property (+/- 3 hours). My advice is to absolutely stay more than one night!

The hosts of Astral Cottage are incredibly kind, welcoming people. They made our stay special and memorable with every little detail and touch. The cottage itself is lovely, especially the front porch with beautiful landscaping. It has everything you would need — a bathroom with hot shower and toiletries, a fridge with complimentary water and beers, a kettle with teas, and a comfortable bed. The host is extremely responsive and has great recommendations for your time in Ella. He also arranges transportation for any ride you may need — including the short 10-minute tuk tuk ride to town. The shining feature is the host’s family and their care for their guests. They prepared AMAZING breakfasts and dinner for us. I am certain you will love your stay at their property!

The owner of this cottage is incredible - so friendly, always reachable for his guests and very supportive. He organized Tuktuks for us and gave us great recommendations what to do around Ella (e.g. he send us instructions with photos how to get on Ella Rock or where to do a great cooking class). The breakfast was the best we had in Sri Lanka, it was a lot and selfmade by the owners wife. The cottage was very clean and cute, we loved the view. We wanted to stay longer. 100% recommended!

Amazing! Astral zone cottage is one of the most wonderful places in Sri Lanka. The cottage is extremely clean and has everything you need! But what stands out are the hosts: very helpful and kind, not pushy at all and they prepared us meals (both breakfast and dinner) we will still dream about in the future. Don’t hesitate to book this accommodation, it is heaven on earth! Amazing WiFi!

A beautiful little cottage in a stunning location. The hosts are the kindest people you will meet, nothing is too much to help with. The property is about 15min to the main town but there are places to walk near to have food and also a wonderful 20min walk on the railway into town or the other way a longer walk to Ella rock. The host helped us with cheap tuk tuks, taxi onwards and advice on where to go and what to do. We had dinner at the cottage which was amazing and the breakfasts were the best we had in Sri Lanka! The cottage has everything you need and is homely and comfortable, you won’t get bored of the view and surrounding wildlife, we sat for hours watching the birds. Highly recommend this place and we really hope to return in the future.

We had a lovely time here. The cottage is conveniently located away from the chaos of Ella town but close enough to be a quick drive in and walking distance from the hike up Ella rock. The view from the cottage is wonderful and the small garden area was an absolute oasis. We loved having breakfast and dinner on the terrace, both of which were delicious! Maduranga was exceptionally helpful and extremely responsive to any request and we were very appreciative of the flexibility with breakfast times etc. The room is compact but lovely and has everything you need.

This was truly the best hotel we stayed at during our trip to Sri Lanka. The peaceful atmosphere, exceptional cleanliness, and stunning natural surroundings made our experience unforgettable. Astral Zone Cottage is the perfect place to stay when spending a few days in Ella. Located outside of the main town and close enough that everything you want to do whilst in Ella is accessible. The property is located 10 minutes from the train tracks where you can then pick up trails to Ella’s Rock in one direction and Ella town and nine arch bridge in the other. The host, Maduranga, is super helpful, organising really reasonable tasty dinners and tuk tuks. He is really friendly but also respectful of privacy. Would have no hesitation in recommending this cottage. The view is also great.

Room is very clean & comfortable, its worth to money. Breakfast delicious we eat one of the best food that we had so far our whole trip in Sri Lanka. The location is a very peaceful and beautiful View and close by Ella rock,Small Ravana waterfall, The nine arch bridge. We can highly recommend. Lovely little hideaway. The owner kindly arranged for a tuk tuk to collect us from the train station.The cottage was so homely and well equipped with everything you might need. We loved the veranda where you could relax and enjoy the quiet view down to Ella. It was really cool to see the trains coming along the line as well ( there aren't that many trains!) The owners wife cooked us dinner and breakfast - both meals were traditional Sri Lankan and really delicious. This property is a real gem if you like an authentic and home from home experience.

The host and stay was fantastic, it was lovely to get out of the hustle and bustle. The cottage was peaceful, wonderful and the views were exceptional, just what we needed to chill and relax. The evening meal and breakfast were phenomenal, hard to finish, as there were so many choices and so much food. Well worth the trek up a little mountain, you won't regret it.
