Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandNot having room cleaned automatically. Supplies seem to be an issue for the hotel, as they ran out of beer and soft drinks. These things are being worked on though.
Arsulana, is in a beautiful setting, remote and very peaceful and totally surrounded by nature. Watching the Macaques playing at the river from our balcony was a highlight. The staff are lovely and very helpful. The manager is very nice and efficient and has lots of ideas for improvments to the hotel. We took a tuc tuc to Aberdeen falls , a short bumpy journey from the property but worth doing. We stayed 3 nights . Definitely worth it!

Luxury stay in this elegant hotel surrounded by acres of lush jungle right next to the waterfall. We stayed 3 nights in room 5. Spacious room and furnished with high quality unique furnitures. Spotless and so clean. We had a chance to glance all the villas too. Each of them were tastefully decorated. 2 of them have access to the beautiful stream. Honestly heavenly stay and magical experience. We sat outside listening to the stream flowing, birds chirping, and critters singing all day and night. Nice swimming pool with water from the mountains. Ashley, the resort manager is so friendly and treat the staff with respect and dignity. We enjoyed chatting with Ashley who is a walking encyclopaedia. The happy bunch of staff are from the local villages who deliver friendly and professional service. Every meal was delicious and prepared with local ingredients. They went beyond their level to fulfill our requirements for special srilankan traditinal cuisine. We had fantastic spa experience. It was so relaxing and really enjoyable. We highly recommend Arusulana to anyone looking for a unique experience and peace stay.

PolandExceptional stay, as close to nature as it gets. We had 2 villas - one with two bedrooms and amazing fully furnished veranda and one with 1 bedroom - here a tiny remark, the bathroom is a small separate building ( just a few steps away). Both villas had swimming pools, not for swimming but sitting in the sun. Yoga classes and massages were onsite which was very convenient and of great quality. The are no food options in the neighborhood, so you pretty much can only eat at the hotel. The hotel menu is rather pricy. The staff, especially the two ladies, were super nice!

United KingdomThe rooms were not automatically cleaned on day 1, we had to ask for replenishment of towels, water and shower gels.
The location was amazing, set in the middle of the jungle, with fragrant trees and by the river. The property is beautifully appointed and the hotel is very tastefully done. The menu is limited but the hotel manager was happy to accommodate any special requests which we appreciated. Aberdeen waterfall is not to be missed, but be prepared to do hundreds of steps inside the jungle and come back up! So good exercise! I would recommend 3 days or longer before hitting Kandy or the south.

United KingdomThere is nothing to dislike here. However, if you have limited mobility, I would recommend staying in the main house.
WOW WOW WOW! I'm not sure if words can really express how special this place is! Stunning location, fantastic service and a real once in a lifetime experience. From waterfall swimming, to trekking Adams Peak, white water rafting and an AMAZING spa, the staff were exemplary from start to finish. The rooms and the resort are spotless, and unbelievably beautiful. The food was superb, nothing was too much trouble amd we had a fantastic time. Thank you Arsulana!

LatviaThe only thing that upset me was the restaurant prices, considering that there are no other options nearby, there are not really wide options for dinner and it gets quite expensive

AustraliaIt needs a reception desk of some sort. And a little but more signage. A map of the property would be useful, especially if you want to go down to the river or do a bird watching walk. The staff were not very informative but all were very friendly and accommodating.
Beautiful space, was fantastic amongst the trees and such lovely rooms and dining area. We really enjoyed our stay. The food was very good at the restaurant.

NetherlandsThe only suggestion we’d make is to provide a plug adapter for the hairdryer that was in the bathroom, as it didn’t fit the socket.
We only stayed one night at Arsulana Eco Lodge, but it was absolutely amazing! The jungle surroundings are breathtaking, and the peaceful atmosphere is unforgettable. The service was outstanding—everyone was so welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed delicious meals and had the most relaxing time swimming in the beautiful rock pools. We wish we could have stayed longer and would highly recommend this unique and stunning place to anyone visiting Sri Lanka!

United KingdomWe were told it would be easier if we had the buffet dinner so we did on night 1 and were a bit disappointed as it was mainly western food and not as high quality as the breakfast. The second night we asked if we could forego the buffet and chose Sri Lankan dishes off the menu and it was so much better and one of our favourite meals of the trip.
Such a peaceful and luxurious hidden gem. The staff were so lovely, attentive and helpful. The location was slightly hard to get to but was amazing once there, very peaceful and surrounded by nature. We used the Sauna and pool which were both a great addition.

Amazing and unique place in the middle of nature. We stayed at the big villa near the river with exclusive access to a natural pool in the river. It was a magical experience to swim in the river and to climb the big rocks. The manager and staff were very friendly and gave excellent service. They arranged a river rafting not far away which was a great experience. You should definitely visit this extraordinary place.

AustraliaIf I had to be picky The road was a bit steep for our driver but just call their phone number and they will send a tuk tuk to collect you from the main road.
Amazing resort that is really entwined with nature. Not sure how it isn't more well known considering the value for money you get and the social mission the owner is on to improve livelihoods for local people in nearby villages. Whoever designed this place really has an eye for detail to allow you to experience luxury while still being immersed in the natural forest. We stayed in the balcony room and still have this amazing memory of sitting on the balcony (which is also equipped with a lovely ceiling fan, table and traditional chairs) during a rain storm and seeing the mist roll through the valley while listening to the sounds of the forest awoken by the rain. It was magical. The rooms are very clean and well maintained and I didn't see any critters which was hard to believe considering how close to the forest you are. There is a private track leading to a peaceful swimming hole in the nearby river which we had all to ourselves. Just me mindful of leeches if it's been raining. In regards to the food, we ordered a traditional rice and curry that wasn't actually on the menu but it was delicious. If you're Lankan or love spice, maybe just ask for local-level hot otherwise they will serve it mild. The service overall is very kind and attentive, proud to see this in Sri Lanka. Next time we will stay in the private villas as they look stunning with their private pools along with mini rivers running adjacent to the room. The magnificent Arberdeen waterfall is also a short tuk tuk drive away. I was a little worried in one review saying the place smelled overwhelming of Naphthalene but I didn't smell anything so maybe they changed something.

Tucked away in the heart of the forest, this hotel is a true hidden gem—more like a living museum with impeccable attention to detail. If you’re seeking peace and an escape from the noise of daily life, this is your sanctuary. A huge shoutout to Ashley and the incredible team for making us feel right at home, like family. Sadly, my stay was only one night, but it’s clear this place deserves more time. Highly recommend, and I’ll definitely be back! Keep up the amazing work!

United Statesthe location - the entrance is down a 350m steep descend, my driver wasn’t too happy about it. it’s about 30 mins from the rafting so have to pay for transport. need to book taxi/transport in advance as it is quite out of the way. but the staff are more than happy to help and make sure you’re taken care of.
stunning property, facilities are amazing. the natural swimming pools are sensational. the staff were so friendly and made me feel very special! I booked room 5, it was basic (compared to the others) but as a solo traveller suited me just fine. I ended up having the public pool to myself as majority of the villas have their own pool. food was fantastic and they will accommodate any dietaries. there was no AC which I was scared about but I actually got a touch cold with the fan on. beautiful waterfall (Aberdeen falls) in the vicinity. but beware unless you’re a lover of treks it’s a challenge to get to!
