Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel!. Nice garden and clean pool. 400m from the beach and beachclubs. Comfortable rooms around the pool. The hotel offer various breakfast options and lunch/diner menu. Dishes were tasteful with affordable prices. Tuk Tuk service is available. Staff was very friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help. From check-in to check-out, the service was great. The service throughout our stay was excellent — efficient, professional, and personal. Thank you for our wonderful stay at Anukama.

NetherlandsThe immediate surroundings of the resort are a bit desolate. The beach is on walking distance (couple of 100 meters) but the walk to it is not the nicest.
An oasis of green amidst the high temperature and sun rich Nilaveli area. Very pleasant pool.

United KingdomThere could be a few more sunloungers around the pool perhaps and it would be great to have filtered water available to reduce plastic bottle use. Not the hotel's fault - but there was quite a lot of litter on the lanes and beaches in nilaveli which was a shame - maybe the hotels and businesses locally could collectively try to address this.
This was one of our favourite hotels across a 3 week Sri Lanka trip. The pool was a real highlight at Anukama, set amongst a verdant garden and we had a wonderful time lounging there in the July heat. The room was also comfortable with good size beds and air conditioning. All the staff were really friendly and great with children and we all enjoyed the breakfast choices. It's a short walk to a beautiful beach with a good choice of restaurants and activities.

PortugalThe main criticism was that there resort had no hard liquor license so the only alcohol served was tinned beer. A glass of wine at dinner would have been nice! We also thought it a bit strange you had to choose breakfast the day before but it was very generous and good value for money. The crows were also really noisy clattering around on the tin roof in the early hours!
The individual bungalows were really cute, comfortable and spacious. The outside seating area was attractive and looked out over the pool and gardens. There was a nice play area with volleyball net and sporting equipment, books and games to use. The staff were really helpful and polite, especially the reception staff who went out of their way to arrange tours and transport for us. The local beach was beautiful and only a 5 minute walk away there was a great rustic beach bar with friendly staff that did fabulous seafood.

United StatesThey did not have kids meals or we had 14 adults and 5 kids. They only served 14 breakfast meals for the adults. But it was enough for all of us. ( I thought they could have given free meals for the kids. Was not a big deal)
Nice quite fantastic property. Staff is very friendly. Food was good! They had Sri Lankan style and English style breakfast to choose, Both of them were delicious. Thank you!

AustraliaI’ve got no complaints
The staff were lovely, attentive and informative. They went out of their way to prepare meals my fussy 10 year old daughter would eat. Asking for her preferences. The pool and gardens are lovely - lots of wildlife to watch and shade from the sun. Rooms were a good size and bathrooms were new. Comfy beds.

Sri LankaKettle in one of the rooms was not working. The hot water seemed have a problem. There was no coffee sachets in the room, only tea. Some stray dogs were there, may be the hotel needs to look in to it. Food wasnt that tasty, but ok.
The rooms are excellent and can accommodate a family very well. Swimming pool was excellent. Really nice environment surrounded by fruit bearing trees, ample parking space and accommodation for the driver as well.

United KingdomOnly minor things that could make a big difference: - There wasn’t enough cleaning around the poolside and outside of the villas. Some other guests had left paper towels and cigarette butts when they left and these all remained there for the next couple of days getting mushed into the ground. - The TV and fan didn’t work so seemed to be there for display. The AC worked well but was very loud and over the bed and changing the temperature on it didn’t work, so it was really cold. - There were no mosquito bed nets which might’ve helped as I got bitten a lot - There was a long wait time in the restaurant sometimes even when it was empty - The resort is near the beach but it’s not the main beach so the beach that you walk to (800m) is very dirty. To go to the main beach it’s about 5km. This is my fault as I should’ve checked this on booking, not the fault of the hotel, but just want to make other travellers aware.
We did really enjoy our stay here. It was very relaxing. The pool was lovely and it was great that they had games and a games area. The room was very spacious and comfortable and staff were polite. The curries and breakfast in the hotel were nice!

AustraliaThe room wasnt cleaned during our two days and we actually cleaned it ourselves as it had a lot of insects over the floor.Dinner options were just okay.
The staff were very helpful. The breakfast was very good with a good selection. The pool and garden setting was a good place to relax though the pool could have been cleaner in water quality. An easy 10 minute walk to the local beach. You could swim and also watch local fisherman.

United KingdomConsistently incredibly slow service for food, which would never arrive for all of us at a similar time. Some of the strangest food we experienced in Sri Lanka - it became entertaining to see what we were going to get! They had a few dishes that were delicious though. The staff were so friendly and tried really hard to offer a great service, so we never complained. The room felt a little tired and not the cleanest. The area surrounding the resort is really run down - more to be aware -it didn’t impact on our time there, which we really enjoyed.
Lovely pool, really close to a beautiful beach. Room was a good size and staff were incredibly friendly and helpful.

Sri LankaWe had stay at Anukama resort on April 18 and 19, 2024 (three adults) and the staff are very nice and helpful, even the General manager, Jena Moorthy, a nice gentleman, I would like to bring some points to the management of Anukama Resort to improve the accommodations and services 1. Make sure the hot water supply, the commode flash, and the hot water itself are functioning before granting the visitor access to the room (we experienced a negative experience when we entered the room and the technicians arrived to fix the issue for over an hour while we were in the room). The room and bathroom were extremely poorly cleaned. 3. The bed sheet and pillow that were provided are extremely small. When we asked for more bedsheets and pillows, they gave us only one of each and said they were out of stock. 4. Although the room has an electric kettle, the staff only provides two packets of office, milk, and sugar each time we ask them to get these items for three people. 4. Even though the accommodation charge includes the breakfast, the serving on the plate are insufficient for a single adult.
