How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe accomodation was really beautiful, quiet and clean. The chef did an amazing job on dinner (and lunch), it is definitely worth it to have dinner at the accomodation at least once :) All the staff was super friendly and provided us with everything that we needed. We spend our time chilling on the private beach and diving with Divinguru in Nilaveli. We both booked an ayeurvedic massage at the accomodation and the lady who gave the massage was very professional. We did have our own tuktuk, which was very convenient as there is not much to do in Kumpurupiddi itself and we went to Nilaveli when we wanted to eat out.

food options .. since there are not many restaurants around . their place has very few food options would love if they increase the options
Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed our location. Regarding your comment about the food options, we’d like to share that our choice to offer a single evening menu is part of our eco-friendly approach. It helps us reduce food waste while allowing us to serve freshly prepared meals made primarily from organic produce from our garden and local suppliers. That said, we are always happy to adapt our menu upon request if you have any allergies or follow a specific diet. Thank you again for your comment, and we hope to welcome you back soon. Warm regards, Amanta Beach Team

Verified reviewComodity and silence. Perfect location on the beach (clean and quiet)
Menu was a little bit expensive (although it was very tasty and healthy) you can also ask for a tuktuk to eat somewhere else so it is fine.

Verified reviewDespite the non stopping rain for days and days, our stay in Amanta Beach was just perfect. Everything is as shown on the photos and written in the description and actually there is much more. Slightly out of the village, just right on the private beach, with a huge garden and a cute swimming pool, you will be offered very tasty breakfasts and dinners.. The rooms and the private gardens have everything you may need. And those stylish decorations! I need to mention also the very lovely staff who make you feel very welcome and still manage to give you the privacy you want in such a place. It is not the cheapest, but absolutely worth the value.

Verified reviewThe hotel is stunning, it feels very luxurious for a reasonable price for european standards. The staff is super friendly and helpful, especially the manager Shyakthi. We ended up staying 2 more nights. The biggest highlight was the private beach, we were there alone most of the time and the sea is perfect for swimming. The beach is equipped with sun beds and a shower. The hotel offers 4 course dinner for 7000 rupees per person and ayurvedic massage for 35 dollars. It is the perfect place if you want to relax in a beach resort.
The location is very remote, which might or might not be a downside. There are no restaurants nearby. If you're looking to discover the Trincomalee area, try to stay in town, or you can get a tuk tuk for around 2500 rupees one way (30 mins), or take the bus. The dinner and other services provided are pricy for Sri Lanka.

Verified reviewThe location is great. Room and amenities are up to standard and very clean. Very friendly and kind staff. Superb Sri Lankan breakfast. Place is very clean and well maintained. There were a couple of friendly cats and you wouldn't miss a thing.
The pillow are bit too hard. It would be nice to have a good bed side reading lamp.

Verified reviewThe location is gorgeous! As long as you're fully prepared for how remote it is, Amanta really is a lovely spot. You're far away from anything else at this point, and you have your own private beach. I was often out there all alone - I felt like I had the entire ocean to myself! There are beach beds and towels and everything, which is nice. And the staff are all very kind and helpful. Breakfast was good, although I always find it strange when I'm served things like white/American bread -- I came here to eat Sri Lankan food! If you're looking for a nice, quiet relaxing time on the beach, this is definitely the spot for that.
I hate to complain at all because the spot really was lovely, but there were a few things that made our stay a little less than perfect that hopefully the hotel can work on for future guests. Although we had a private garden, the hotel staff would often show up in our garden unannounced, which is not right when the whole point is to have some privacy. To open the curtains to find the gardener standing right there is disconcerting to say the least! They should knock and let you know they're going to clean up before entering. Other than that, I was a bit disappointed by the amount of bugs and lizard poo in the room and bathroom. I know we're in nature and there's only so much that can be done, but to be paying that much for a poorly sealed room... it's a bit disappointing :/ Lastly, it would be nice to have some affordable dinner options at the hotel. Everywhere else we stayed offered a reasonable dinner option and the location for this one is so remote, it would be nice to have the option to order dinner without paying 7k rupees for an entire 4-course meal, lovely as it may have been. Be prepared to take a 10-15-minute tuk tuk to dinner if you're staying for a few nights!

Verified reviewThe facility and beach were fantastic. And the garden walk from your room to the beach side and restaurant was just wow, so tranquil and instantly put you in a light and trouble-free state of mind. We loved the decor of the room and the Ayurvedic bathroom products provided. There were adorable kittens and content dogs roaming around. Almost like a paradise.
The AC took too long to cool down. For the price, toilet amenities should be provided. It was also a bit hard to find the staff sometimes as they are nowhere to be found. As a guest, you wouldn’t want to search the resort to find the staff in order to get some watermelon juice. There might be ways to improve this. Lastly, they provided a 4-course dinner there for 7000 rupees a person. We liked the taste but the portion was really small. We hope there could be more options provided in the resort. We ended up ordering food deliveries from nearby restaurant.

Verified reviewWe had a very relaxing time at Amanta Beach. Beautiful room, spacious&well designed. We loved the outdoor area (garden/ beach) a lot & enjoyed the calming atmosphere. The two dogs are gorgeous, friendly and it’s very nice to see & good to know that they are treated well & a have a home. ♥️🙏🏽 Unfortunately, this is not a matter of course in the Trincomalee area.

Verified reviewThe best place for a relaxed holiday at the beach. Everything is perfect, it is all in the details…. The maintenance is excellent. The owners wife is French so you can feel it in the interiors. The wide beach is spotless clean, they check it every day. Next to a cute fisherman place with little boats. Lovely garden. The swimming pool is very cute. The food is very good. The chefs worked in 5 star hotels. They can arrange tuk tuk and different tours ( they do not charge commission). Thank you for this little paradise!

Verified reviewWe stayed at Amanta Beach Resort for two nights and wished we would have stayed for a week! The property is beautiful and private but close enough to Nilaveli & Trinco that you could take a Tuk Tuk if you needed to. The rooms were spotless, beautiful, and everything worked perfectly (including the air con). As previous reviewers have said, the beach is your own little private slice of paradise. We were there a few weeks before the heavy season, so the seas were a bit rough, but we spent many hours lounging in the chairs on the sand! The food was amazing too! We had dinner one night and it was one of the best meals that we've had on our year abroad. The owner/chef comes out and explains everything and tells you where he got the ingredients from (mostly his on-site garden). Shyakthi and his staff make this place what it is! They all go above and beyond to make sure you're enjoying yourself and that you're comfortable. They put a lot of time and energy into the entire experience and it shows. There is a reason this hotel is rated 9+ on Booking and you should definitely come see for yourself!
It was perfect! We wished we could have stayed longer.
