Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaSuch a wonderful place to stay! Close to the beach and restaurants, very relaxing and rooms have everything you need. Prashanth is a lovely host who truly cares about the welfare of all animals, and the cats and dogs are super friendly - if you are an animal lover this is definitely for you! Make sure to try out Mom’s kitchen next door too, absolutely beautiful Sri Lankan food. If you stay here, please give Sisu some pats for me, he’s the sweetest little cat and I miss him!

Actually no words for this stay but I'll try my best. Concept: 21 cats. EPIC. 3 rooms available. Owner with a mission. Superfriendly man, he even joins in the evening for a drink and a chat, fixes everything for a snorkling trip. The world would be a safer place if we had more stays / people like this gem. Be sure to go eat at Mom's kitchen, it's all in the name and it's his mom. :)

PolandOur room and other facilities were very clean and comfortable. Compared to other places we’ve stayed at around Sri Lanka, purified water access, AC, and shower (pressure and hot water) were especially a pleasant surprise. We also enjoyed warm evenings spent outside in the little yard belonging to the property. Right outside of the guesthouse you can find a restaurant run by the host’s family, offering fantastic breakfast and dinner options. The general location is another highlight - close to the Uppuveli beach and with many bars and restaurants a short walk away. In our experience, the atmosphere is much more pleasant than around Trincomalee town area. What truly made this stay special for us was the host Prashanth and his adorable pets. We loved hanging out with the dogs and cats - they’re very friendly and always welcome cuddles and affection. We’ve learnt a lot about stray animals’ situation in Sri Lanka from Prashanth and it only made us admire him more. Prashanth’s kindness, hospitality, and generosity were truly beyond words — from late-night conversations over beer to offering us a late checkout and even a spare room to shower and refresh before hitting the road again. If you are an animal lover and looking for a place to stay around Trincomalee, consider booking Alass Ga and supporting this beautiful initiative. We will be recommending this place to everyone and if we ever come back to Trincomalee we can’t imagine staying anywhere else! ❤️

Alass Ga is a fantastic homestay/guesthouse in the heart of Uppuveli. The rooms are comfortable with great a/c, which was needed in the summer heat! The owner prashanth is very warm and welcoming and will go out of his way you out. His mother and sister run the restaurant next door and make fantastic breakfast and dinner options, along with plenty of vegan and vegetarian. Additionally, Prashanth spends his time away from the guesthouse caring for and feeding the stray dogs and cats around the area, not to mention the several cats and dogs he has on site. Would 100% recommend!

BelgiumClose to the Beach and next to the best Restaurant Mom's Kitchen, this place is a real gem. Rooms are super clean, good bed, good working shower and AC. The owner Prasanth is super friendly and takes such good care of all the stray cats and dogs in the area. He made it his life goal to take care for the animals nobody else is looking after, which makes him a true hero! At the place itself, there also are super cute dogs and cats that live there and it was a pleasure spending time with them. We hope to come back soon and would recommend everyone who comes to Trincomalee to spend your time here, you won't regret it! Ps: almost everything he earns he will use it to take stray animals to the vet, for food & medicine for the cats and dogs... So if you can, give him a nice tip so he can continue doing such beautiful work! ♥️

Loved this guesthouse. Great location not far from the road if you are coming by bus. Not far from the beach and also near lots of restaurants, including Prashanths Mums restaurant, which is just next door and lovely. Prashanth has taken in lots of cats and dogs who needed homes. He also feeds stray animals in the forest daily. He is such a caring person for animals, the environment, and his guests. You can refill your water bottles, use the kitchen, and do your laundry. The room was very clean and perfect for my needs. If you love animals, this is the place to be!

This was one of our favourite stays in our month of Sri Lanka. We had a great time meeting Prashanth and his family. His mother runs the restaurant next door (Moms kitchen) which is highly recommend to try Tamil, Sri Lankan food. The rooms had great AC and the showers were nice and warm or cold depending on what we wanted. After a day down the beach a cold shower was needed. We really enjoyed our time with the pets, especially sandy and toffee the dogs of the house. Thanks Prashanth and we hope to see you again.

GreeceI loved my stay here, so much so that I ended up coming back again at the end of my trip. As a solo female traveler, Prashanth made the place feel like home - friendly, kind and welcoming, and his love for his animals is admirable. The animals also made it feel like home too of course, and it was so nice to have pets around while traveling. Prashanth can help with all your questions/activities/transport during your visit. The place is clean and new and each room has AC.

Absolutely everything. The host Prashanth is a legend, he goes out of his way to help with anything. The room was immaculately cleaned, comfy beds, AC pumping, mozzie net if needed. Shared kitchen if you want to cook or store something in the fridge. Free water refills so no need to keep buying plastic bottles. Not even a 5 min walk to the beach. The best restaurant in town right next door. Not to mention all the cute orphaned cats and dogs Prashanth takes care of on the property. Don't hesitate and book it straight away if there is a room

United KingdomStaying with Prashanth was a truly special experience that me and my partner will remember forever. This man is single-handedly looking after the stray cats and dogs in the area, and it was an honour to stay here and support his cause (the money goes straight towards food and vet care for not only the animals you stay with but hundreds of strays on the streets). We had a great time hanging out with Prashanth and his friendly cats and dogs in the morning and evening whilst enjoying the beach in the day time- making for an enjoyable and unforgettable time in Trinco. The rooms are nice and clean with great AC, and Prashanth is always willing to help with anything if you need it. Also, the location is amazing, close to the beach and lots of nice restaurants, particularly his Mom’s place next door! I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves animals/ pets. You will have the best time. We stayed for a week and could have stayed longer! Thank you so much Prashanth, see you again some day
