Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyWhat wasn’t so nice was that the shower didn’t get completely warm.
It was just very beautiful because it felt authentic, as if you were staying with a Sri Lankan family. The host was super kind and helpful, and the food was great as well. Definitely a place I would recommend.

IndiaThe room was very cozy, Kumari aunty and her son were the kindest hosts. We were greeted with warm chai and snacks when we arrived and they ensured that we were comfortable. It was a beautiful homestay filled with plants and we had the pleasure of playing with their friendly and cute pets. The room had all facilities that we needed and even if we needed anything else the hosts went out of the way to accommodate our requests. We had a hearty and delicious breakfast, lunch and to be honest it is some of the most delicious and aunthentic Srilankan food that I had during the stay. They also have really cute handmade bags that I purchased. We highly recommend this homestay which we really enjoyed staying at and it’s a place that we surely want to come back every time we visit Nuwara Eliya.

IndiaWe stayed in Nuwara for a day. We were amazed by the hospitality of 20 20 wood cabana. It's run by the mother and son duo. They were amazing. Ara picked us up from the railway station and even offered us the tour of the city with nominal rates. We went to the must visit places in Nuwara and I must say we had the most peaceful sleep on return. The house is full of green plants and aunty takes great care of them. The star of the stay is Kylie (british short hair cat) she is so playful and full of purrs. Aunty served us great breakfast and we even had dinner prepared by her..it was so yummy and home like. Aunty bid us goodbye along with Kylie. We felt so at home at 20 20 wood cabana..Ara dropped us to the station and helped us get the tickets. Highly recommend to stay with 20 20 wood cabana to experience great hosts

What a magical experience! We were greeted by the warmest hosts ever!! So kind and helpful. They arranged a tuk tuk to pick us up and drop us back to the station. The wood Cabana was a special place indeed. We had a terrible house in our garden section that overlooked Lovers Leap waterfall. Amazing . The Cabana was so unique, cosy and beautiful Lovely hot shower. We were offered tour's, dinner , we had the breakfast which was fabulous and lots of it. This was by far the loveliest family running it, we felt like part of the family whilst still being in our secluded garden , private entrance and spacious Cabin. Truly special experience. You have to try it, You won't regret it. We walked to Lovers leap from the cabin. Beautiful 😍

IsraelIt was rather chilly in the room, though once you get under the blankets it's not so bad. Otherwise, no complaints!
What a fantastic guy Ara is -- I'm so glad to have met him and to have the opportunity to explore Nuwara Eliya under his guidance. For a very reasonable price, he took me around in his tuktuk to see a plethora of waterfalls, viewpoints, and a tea plantation. He'll pick you up from the station and take you back. From the very first moments, he treated me like we were old friends, and it was such a joy to have his company. His mum is the sweetest, and is a great cook! The two of them took such good care of me. The room was everything I wanted; I loved the plants outside and the true feeling of being in a wooden mountain cabin. The bed was huge, and the room spacious. Plenty of hot water in the shower, and multiple sinks.

Had a great day out in the Tuk Tuk with Arras the son who showed us all we wanted to see and more . There is a local main street if you want an evening stroll in a non tourist area, everyone was friendly and welcoming. The accommodation was excellent comfy bed and had real charm plus the look out tower great spot for a cup of tea. They do a very efficient transfer to the station too.
