How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewI was a solo traveller and I felt very safe. The staff was super friendly and professional. Overall had a good stay. The food was good. The location is in a great place near locate attractions. The shuttle services to sugar beach was awesome. I highly recommend this resort. If your a person that like nature this would be great for you.
No complaints. I wish the food menu was open 24/7 instead of a schedule.

Verified reviewThis was the exact retreat I was looking for.....quiet, peaceful, private and in beautiful surroundings. We spent our time on our cottage porch in the pool and sun for 3 glorious days. The food was amazing. The chef even made a couple of curries for my British husband! The staff was so very friendly and accommodating. I can't wait to return.

Terribly outdated rooms and clearly not maintained for years. Don’t know where to start. Plastic windows!!! Spider webs all over. Door don’t lock. Dirty inventory, not painted. Full of crawling insects. What a difference it was when we came here 10 years ago. Totally rundown now. AC was not working. Shower barely functioning and rusted. Owners refused to refund or diminish the price. Pieces of glass were in broken coffeepot. Same with our friends who stayed in another cottage! Horrible white daylight light fixtures from prehistoric times all around inside and on the grounds. It really looked very poor. Owners were very entitled and agressieve defensive when we -a party if 4 persons- complained and even wanted to call immigration on us. Just absolutely terrible place!! As most say here, the breakfast was totally inedible. Stay far away!

We’re also disappointed to hear that the interaction between your group and our team was perceived negatively. We make every effort to treat all our guests with respect and professionalism, and we regret if you felt otherwise during your stay. That said, there are certain claims in your review we feel it’s important to clarify. You noted that the property appears run-down compared to your visit 10 years ago. However, since then, we’ve expanded our offerings, nearly doubling our accommodations and consistently upgrading our facilities and amenities. You also stated the breakfast was inedible, though you were present at breakfast almost every morning. If your experience with the resort was truly as unsatisfactory as described, it is confusing that you remained for four days and later attempted to leave without settling your bill. It was only at that point—when payment was refused—that we mentioned involving immigration authorities, as is standard protocol for non-payment by foreign guests. Additionally, we would have appreciated if you had included photos specific to the unit you stayed in, as the ones shared could not be verified and may not reflect the actual conditions of our property. While we were unable to offer a refund under the circumstances, we do understand your disappointment. Feedback, both critical and complimentary plays an important role in helping us improve, and we remain committed to providing better service to future guests. Verified reviewLocation to Pitons and sugar beach. Beautiful foliage and liked that trees and plants had signs. Young girls working the restaurant and bar were kind.
Facilities and cottages are rustic, old, and lacked hot water in sinks. Paid luxury resort prices for a place that feels and looks like a summer sleep away camp. Front desk staff were very non-communicative and unhelpful. To take a cab anywhere (even to a restaurant 2 miles away) cost $70.00 (US) round trip - cash. Pictures in bookings are very deceiving and don’t show how run down this place actually is. Shuttle to sugar beach is nice but drops off far from beach with steep incline walk up and down. Caution if you have mobility issues. Seems like with so little effort this could be a neater place - guided nature hikes, a free or cheaper shuttle to the nearby restaurants or town, orientation to the “resort” when you arrive etc…

I specifically want to acknowledge Kershella, Clenton, Macy, Leandra, Suella, the lady who helped us create those delicious chocolate bars and the other restaurant staff. Thanks for helping to create such a relaxing getaway. I wish I was returning this weekend 😊 The fruits! So many fruits in abundance! That was also a highlight. Walking through the property felt like we were in the garden of eden!

Verified reviewThe location in the rainforest is absolutely beautiful. The grounds are magnificent and I’ve never seen so many tropical fruit trees in one place. The staff is warm and inviting and they seem to sincerely care about the guests.
The stay is more like glamping and it’s not marketed that way. I was expecting a little more luxury based on the description. However my toilet didn’t work and my bathroom sink leaked. The facilities need some updating and a good cleaning.

Verified reviewAmazing to be right in the rainforest. The walk up to view the Piton (forget which one) was easily accessible. We also walked down to the sulphur springs (probably not advisable as walking on the main road is a bit hairy, but it was only about 40 minutes and we survived). Pools were good, clean and quiet whenever we visited. Clean pool towels are available at reception. Only one restaurant on site, but it was decent. We ate there both nights we stayed. The restaurant and bar staff were all really friendly. We had a room rather than a cabin, it was simple but clean and had everything we needed. Overall really our stay. Free range chickens, cats, other birds of all kinds and lizards on site.
The resort is a bit tired and some areas could do with better maintenance. Some bridges in the forest are a bit rickety for instance. Maybe it adds to the overall rustic charm, but it’s definitely on the basic/simple side. Didn’t impact our stay, perhaps would be a bigger issue if staying longer. Shuttle goes to sugar beach daily. We didn’t use it, as apparently it only goes once a day, so you’re kind of stuck there all day till it goes back again. Might be nice if it also went into Soufriere or other local places as the resort is very isolated.

Verified reviewThe breakfast at Fond Doux is amazing Home cooking at it's best with a fantastic choice of fish, chicken, pulses, yogourt, coconut water and the delicious cocoa tea! It was easy to get to the beaches because of the shuttle and also so much to see and do at the resort- pool, nature walk, trail to see the pitons, making chocolate. The staff are so friendly and helpful and there is a generally respectful atmosphere which is so pleasant.
There were kittens in the roof that were a bit noisy one night!

We didn’t realise how isolated the place was and how expensive taxis were to go anywhere. You need a car. Also the pictures in the website don’t give a realistic view of the place. Could not see the items in the pictures in the site. Also the dining menu is the same every night - maybe fewer dishes each night and more variation on different days. The Sam fish each and every night .
